BTW, how the heck do you place a sign on a postbox? I either open the chest or end up placing the sign on the floor!

Hold shift when you place it.

It also allows you to place torches on some things, like workbenches. Of course, real women use redstone lamps.

Real men use lava.

Spoiler:

Wash your hands, Roger.

And item frames on the front of chests.

On another note, Plav and Ein, is your iron farm open for business from other people than you? Like, can I come stand in your farm's general area and gather some iron? If so, where do I go to pick it up? That thing is a monstrosity with WAY too many nooks and crannies. Cool design, though. I went to have a look and saw golems being burned by lava and smashed by pistons. O.O

That horse is amazing. If you give him a lick, he tastes just like raisins.

If you pull on his mane will be turn into a plane?

That pig seems quite dubious...

One shouldn't look a gift horse in the ass.

I'm certainly not going to ask you to show me where the lemonade is made...

Unless it eats creepers and poops gunpowder I am meh about the horsey.

It might make long-distance travel much more interesting. Or at least faster.

Yeah, I look forward to some fast galloping. Lately I've been wishing there was a speed enchant for boots.

What about blocky pigs?

It did get a tiny bit of discussion in the general Minecraft thread, but not much.

Thanks everyone that pitched in saplings for me. Norfair, I stopped by New Solara and wow. That is some very nice work.

Anyone have extra ender pearls?

There's lots of Endermen in the End to fight. There's an Ender chest in there, so you can fight a bunch of Enders, put the orbs in the chest, then die gloriously. Until the Ender dragon dies, death is the only exit back to the overworld.

Okay, so far every single person responding to the Doodle poll has given the okay to 8pm EST on Saturday night (you all noticed it was EST, right?). Put it on your calendar.

In-laws decided to come to town today....I'm out.

Have fun, and battle hard, my friends! FOR GLORY!

I've created a prototype for the automatic chicken-powered chicken farmer. It collects eggs and launches them back into the farm, making more chickens.

(Click to embiggen.)

1. Hoppers under the farm catch eggs and funnel them to...
2. A series of droppers which lead to...
3. A dispenser.

To send redstone pulses to the system and activate the droppers/dispenser, a chicken in a mine cart runs over a...

4. Detector rail which pulses an...
5. Inverter with redstone leading out to the droppers/dispenser.

The failsafe switch (6) depowers the powered rail, shutting down the system in case of chicken overload.

Note: As I've mentioned to Einbjorn... if you had a skeleton farm you could automatically shoot flaming arrows at the chickens occasionally. This would produce instant fried chicken and keep the population down. A carefully engineered system could generate and store fried chicken for player use on a regular basis with no intervention at all.

I love everything about that post.

Eggs make chickens? (really not a joke) I am so far behind in knowing what is possible.

If a chicken falls through a thin blade of lava and dies from the fire, you get cooked chicken. Success rate was around 60-80% if I remember correctly. You could even filter the output to auto cook the raw chicken, and I guess feathers.

Yeah, about one in 8 I think. You simply throw them at the ground. Don't hit a newly hatched chick with another egg, though, that's declasse.

Sorry, Aries. I didn't mean to kick you out of the Blaze Farm.

Yup. If you right-click the egg onto the ground, there's a chance it'll hatch into a chicken.

That's not nearly complex enough. Also, arrows going through a stream of lava are way cooler.

What would a flaming arrow do to the chicken?

Turn it into cooked chicken!
