League Of Legends Catch All

I added you, I'm EastC0ast in LoL. If I'm online I'm usually up for a game, bots or pvp, doesn't matter.

I'm all in on GWJ game nights, btw. If you schedule it, they (might) login.

This just in: it doesn't matter what they do to Karma or how different her costume is...I still suck at her. Back on the bench she goes!

Thanks psoplayer for spending some time playing with me last night. You gave me a lot of good info to think about.

Tried Nami out last night and she was really fun.

Call him Cathadan, everyone except his mother does.

CUSTOMS: I'm down to play some customs, although I prefer goofy 5v5s, ARAMs, ridiculous theme games, and other fun stuff as opposed to competitive 5v5s. It's a struggle to balance the teams. Then, even if the teams are a perfect balance of experienced and new guys, it turns in to a race of which team's big men can get strong off the new guy's first.

I'm all about playing serious competitive games, and I will wait an absurd amount of time to get a full five man queue together, but I prefer competitive games against pubs where I and my team can be as cut throat as possible. Also, its been a long time, I know how most GWJ kids play. I'd rather get frustrated and beat down by strangers, and I feel dirty when I go legendary against a nice guy from the forums who has played 30 games.

FRATE: Let's collaborate son. I have a feeling my thoughts on competitive GWJ 5v5s are the minority, and casting those games would be a good way for me to dodge the bullet and still participate.

I am in a similar place, I enjoy the 5 v 5 games but I really think we almost have to decide roles and matchups beforehand. Like say we take you and Raven cause you both are good ADC's and split the teams you are on. Then you go ADC and he goes Jungle. Then you are laning against me as ADC, not the matchup that we "balanced" for.

I prefer to "try hard" against strangers and mess around with GWJ customs. But I love the idea of casting them, just not sure if my computer is up to par. It would almot be easier to take the GWJ games and cut them up, and do more of a commentary style on them. A top 5 plays of GWJ games. Or if it is a good match a full commentary with replays and such.

But I think there could be ARAMS, Ultimate Bravery Games, League Factions games, Reverse draft, or just random games. Theme games. Yordles vs. monsters?

The league factions lacks gem loving tarics. I vote against league factions.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Even when we arrange for balanced lanes by deciding roles beforehand, there's still not necessarily a pair of well matched people for every lane. I feel that we are far more likely to have consistently positive games by sticking to the goof-off territory for customs as Frate originally suggested.

After tomorrow night (April 12) I only have 1 hockey game left in the season and my "Summer" starts. That means A LOT of more free time for me...

I mostly play with my friend Mogl and when we do we random every game (I am up to 84 champs) so I am not really amazing with anyone... but can play anyone decent.

I would be all for a customs night again, but probably more for a scheduled one rather then a thrown together one.

I love a good theme game. Let's do this!

So just to prove me wrong, Riot match made me with 4 perfectly reasonable people. We lost handily. Each lane was completely outplayed and outmatched. Teemo made tasty regular treats for Chogath up top. Karthus was just sweeping a broom over every close team fight. Draven and Taric were moping the floor with Caitlyn and Leona. Our Ahri was doing fine mid, but all of Karthus' pressure was from his ult. She was pushing well, but he was getting fat cleaning up the top, bottom, or jungle battles.

My Mundo was doing Well, but their Rammus was offered more chances to farm and move around their jungle because the lanes kept good pressure. I had 2 ganks end in escapes in every lane, and I mean less than 50 health. I managed to catch up to Rammus, who was just helping hammer the bottom lane thanks to some choice warding and invasions, but it was too much.

They had tougher and tankier champs. Karthus and Draven were carrying like pros. Every ult from Karth was at least a double kill.

But my team did not engage in any verbal abuse. Teemo even apologized as he had never gone top against Cho, and he learned his lesson. Caitlyn learned a good lesson about aggression. Draven was pushing, pushing, pushing hard as he is supposed to, Cait and Leone were giving too much ground early on. And of course, if the other team has 3 solid tanks, and your team has 1 you need to get kill advantages fast.

But no Certis is Awesome talk.

I'm down to do crazy customs.

What's the best way to 'cast stuff? I'm thinking fraps while in spectator mode recording what I'm saying.

Does using fraps to record LOL Replay sound like a horrible idea?

That will work fine, but the file sizes will be bonkers and take forever to upload if you don't re-compress them later. My preference is to use streaming software like OBS or ffsplit to compress to MP4 on the fly. It takes a little more horsepower in your computer, but saves time in the long run.

KG: keep posting about your solo queue misadventures - it warms my heart to feel I'm not alone.

Personally, I'm back to 3-4 attempts a night just trying to get my win of the day. First game reluctantly went Ziggs to go with Rengar, Lux, Graves, and Udyr concerned about lack of CC and ended up going against Annie, Mundo, Jax, Alistar, and Ez. By the time it was over Annie snowballed completely out of control and with their tanky comp they were able to virtually ignore all my damage.

Game 2 went Malz with Akali, Shen, Ashe, and Rengar vs. Cait, Xin, Lee (mid), Taric, and Teemo. This one was tight all the way until Akali and Rengar got caught, the rest of us died trying to save them, and they gave themselves away before the rest of us respawned trying to save mid inhib. Went 11-4-4 and this one made me cry.

Game 3... not much of a game. Went mid with Viktor against Nidalee and just couldn't make much happen. Bot lane fed enemy Ez uncontrollably and he ended up 16-3-6. Not much else to add.

Game 4 - huzzah. Played Cass with Shyv, Yorick, Taric, and Cait vs. Ez, Nid, Kayle, Gangplank, and Maokai. This one went way better than I expected. We led most of the way but got nearly aced late... highlight of the match for me was, with four guys down, circling behind an inhib-pushing Ez and Nid midlane, feinting a couple of times, then going in on both, ulting and killing Ez almost instantly with Nid barely escaping with her life. Love me some Cass.

There is a lot of football logic in the game. The basic philosophy is that there are 3 parts to the game-offense, defense, and special teams (field goals, punting, kick offs). If you can control 2/3 then you should win the game (not always the case, but usually).

Lol has more like 5 parts and if you can control 3 of them, then you should win. And that is simple-Offense>Lane Control, Defense>Lane Denial (few players do this well), Vision >Warding, Economy>Winning the gold race with CS, Jungle, and Dragon kills, and finally Experience>leveling up-aided by kills, CS, Jungling, Runes/Masteries.

If you can create a significant advantage there, you can handily win. You can also use one to make up for a short coming elsewhere.

Teemo in my game had no real chance in the top lane, so I knew he was going to become my boy wonder if that lane was to survive. Bot Lane could have upped the warding effort, been more aware of the lane so that Cait could still kill creeps without having to stick her neck out too much-and deny Draven. Ahri did her level best, like I said she actually controlled her lane, but it was the Karth Ults that got him fed.

We were losing the Experience and Gold front because bot lane was pushed back-that surrenders the dragon. We had 3 failed attempts to get Dragon, because the other team was moving to cover it. My early missed ganks put me behind on gold, frankensense, and mir.

Being a lowly Silver V, another issue is newer players only ever focus on the offense-high kills and few deaths. Bot lanes in particular seem unable to find a usefulness beyond racking up the kill count on the carry.

I think I'll watch the ColbyCheeze, "How to make LoL Videos" short film again. Although I think he uses some of the expensive video software there is out there. Could beGood target for tax refund! I feel sorry for people who pay state taxes.)

Sounds like you--and a bunch more people--are smarter than I when it comes to this stuff Cath, remind me to pick your brain about it next time we're sharing a VOIP channel.

I'm in my promotion series and have been for several weeks. I've 1-1, and haven't played much for several weeks. I want to play ranked to get my feet back under me, but don't want to lose my promotion series on my first game back in a while.

if your like me and have a 1 up bamdwith then streaming anything worthwhile and talking on vent will have long delays. Personally when I did it for those twenty or thirty games we would spectate live in a vent channel while I recorded on fraps. I could do about 3 or 4 hours before I ran out of space. I would then use Sony Vegas to convert them to mp4 and put in the opening title screen. Also I was using an old version of frap that cut the video every 2 gigs or so.

If we do this again I can easily record, I currently have 2 1.5 terabytes drives sitting on my desk empty.

I am in a similar position. I duo'd with complex to get into my promotion because during my placement matches I got 4 afks, I jungle Voli'd and got routinely 3 man ganked in my own jungle with no MIA or even hint of warding from anyone other than me. I was literally fighting for my life at wraiths while mid just farmed. And Bot ran back bot.

I got sick of it and called mid or adc and carried the rest of the games to a 5-5. Got stuck in bronze 1. The three games with Complex - 5-0-4 Naut, 13-1-19 Ahri, and a 8-1-12 Cait.

As for the casting stuff, I will gladly represent hook city in the commentary with you Squee.

Also I updated the random league spreadsheet that Raven made for us with a themes tab. Feel free to fix stuff, add stuff, I did it mostly from memory. There is probably a better way to do it. With just listing 5 man teams and their names, then somehow connecting it back to the summoners and the characters they own in a crazy pivot table spreadsheet masacre of pain. GWJ Lol database? O_O

I've been having tons of fun play thresh, it almost feels like i'm juggling someone in street fighter.

New ARAM Queue keeps getting better and better. You now can gain Reroll points, that you build up and alow you to reroll your pick occasionally. If someone dodges you get your reroll points refunded and they will not. They will also be subject to normal queue dodge penalties. And it sounds like you get more points the more champs you have.

They are also doing a massive overhaul on skin pricing.

Have you found any mention on what they plan on doing about IP earned with the ARAM queue?

just curious but why spoiler prices?

I was hoping to make it smaller, forgot that it doesn't work that way on this forum

It will be a normal queue, no caps from what I remember.

I don't usually like GWJ 5v5 customs, but I will totally play Ultimate Bravery.

woah?!?! Steel Legion Garen price increase but not Lux?

@Squee: No problem. I'll drop some knowledge on ya. Also, OBS and ffsplit are both free so there's no need to invest any money if you're just putting up unedited video. The money comes in once you want to get fancier with cuts, music, fixes in post, etc.

@Complex: That's exactly the filespace problem I was talking about. However, just because the software I'm using is built for streaming doesn't mean you have to be streaming to use it. There's an option in both OBS and ffsplit to save the streamed video data your HDD without sending it out over the net to twitch or elsewhere. That way when you stop the stream you'll end up with the same MP4 that would ultimately have been archived on your twitch channel. As a bonus, because you aren't limited by bandwidth if you're just going to your HDD, you can bump up the video quality on the stream significantly so you get something comparable to the raw M-JPEG that comes out of fraps.

3 tries to get first win tonight, all three decided by afkers... 3 years on and they still haven't figured out a way to curb this sh*t.

This is hilarious

Hey there. I'm looking for a solid partner for Ranked. I have every champ except Quinn & Fizz. I am a solid support, but can jungle or ADC fairly well. Top is not my best and mid needs more practice; but I can fill as needed.

I am down in bronze and played 'support' all the way down to Bronze V and need at least one player on the team that is in Skype and plays to win. I started playing ADC just to try to climb out of bronze, but I think what I really need is a consistent person to play with.

My play times are pretty much 11PM EST on out until I crash, but with two kids I really can not play any earlier.

The summoner name is 'Beardbane'

I have a few people that I do play with and that is always fun, but solo is just frustrating me.
