Dark Souls Catch-All

Good lord am I engrossed in this game. Picked this up months ago, but was hesitant about the game for so long. So apparently Steam has logged me as in 40+ hours now. So I've started to get invaded a lot recently -- which has me interested in creating a new character aimed towards PvP a bit more. Any recommendations? My main character (that I've restarted three times over) is a bit more vitality, endurance and strength heavy -- with points wasted here and there as well. I'm interested in trying some new playstyles.

Also this cracks me up. Found this while looking for walkthrough advice.

This is truly beautiful.

Wow... that's awesome, I wish I was that clever.

That is amazing.

That was amusing, but not really 6 minutes worth of amusing.

Stop breaking the queen's pots!

I really needed that video today. Thanks for sharing. Also props to the creator for doing that with 322k souls on-hand, quite gutsy.

I wonder how many people only figured it out because of hacks. Brilliant griefing though. You can probably camouflage like that in a lot of different areas. I'm tempted to test that with black-knight armor or hollow soldier armor.

My boxer has now taken on Anor Londo and yesterday I finished off O&S to finally get my hands on the Lordvessel, although I did cheat and bring in a phantom to help spread the damage a bit.

One of my main targets in Anor Londo were to create the Dragon Bone Fist, but boy what a letdown that was. I'm curious about if it, with its A-scaling of str, will become viable with enough points in strength because right now at 24 str it's like a slow and heavy feather duster compared to my +3 Lightning Caestus.

As for now my plan will be to take my stack of Caestus (yes I have a bag full of them), and ascend to one of each type as soon as I get the embers.

I might also give the Claws a proper look, although I've mainly focused on strength so far and prefer the motion patterns of the Caestus.

I don't know why, but this makes me unreasonably happy. Interesting to hear that about the Dragon Bone Fist, had been vaguely contemplating it for a strength character but was a bit leery about the lack of range on fist weapons.

It's actually pretty obvious because the model is much smaller than the regular silver night.

I added 4 points of Dexterity onto my character to try a weapon I didn't end up caring for. Now I feel like I should just restart the whole game.

Between Love and Madness Lies... Obsession.

From what I've seen of it so far, the DBF feels like a novelty item. The strength scaling is good at A or if you have 10 Dragon Scales to spare you can get it to +5 and S scaling. The heavy attack is hard to execute properly with such limited range as it is probably the slowest attack I've seen in this games.

It's a cool item with an awesome uppercut move, but I have yet to see a practical use for this. An upgraded Caestus or Claw would be a much more viable option.

The lack of range is good practice and a fist weapon in offhand creates an interesting play style with a quick jab to interrupt low poise enemies or parry to manage medium ones.

This is true, but most invading phantoms are not looking at the NPCs at all. Great use of a logical blindspot!

Yeah, I can't say I know much about the actual damage output of the DBF, however, the uppercut still seems pretty impressive with the knockdown effect. I am really curious to try out a fully ascended pair of these with a high strength build, even with the poor review Papapishu is giving.

Have no doubt that I am still curious about the potential of this weapon, and I will be spending any Dragon Scale I can scrounge together on ascending these and strength is one of the focus stats for me (apart from Vit and End), however with their current performance they have been down-prioritized to make way for Fire, +15 and possibly a Divine (for the Nito skellies) Caestus first.

Saw a tweet that IGN will show off 12 minutes of Dark Souls 2 tomorrow.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Spoiler:

I'm also a little nervous because it's a new director and it's hard to resist "broadening your audience". I will either weep tears of joy or tears of sorrow after watching those 12 minutes. Facebook integration, celebrity voice actors, microtransactions, collectibles, easy mode, an AI helper, UI popups, pre-order DLC bonus "50 Cents Sword" and always online DRM!

Oh boy, can't wait!

The best part of the video is watching how it pays off with his humanity and souls. At the start he has like 16 humanity, it starts to drop to 12, but then eventually jumps up to the 30's.

4 hours!

Oh man, I have to run down to the drug store for some adult diapers. Gotta be prepared.

So the video will be on IGN right? I just want to make sure that I know where to look during the reveal.

Shouldn't this have gone in the dating tips thread?

Erm, I mean - yes. IGN.

I hope this goes on YouTube; I'd like to see it on my TV tonight.

ign has a youtube channel. They post most things there, and I would assume this will be no different.

Imminent Gameplay

Oooh torches!
