Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Catch-All – Shepards with Jobs

My Volcha Soldier is simply named "Thirst". It seemed appropriate.

And here I thought that the name you gave your characters was the name displayed in game. All my people are named "complexmath". I see some changes forthcoming.

I spent some time with the Fury last night and I think I'm starting to get the hang of her--I was the top scorer by a good margin in a few matches. I love that she can steal shields with her aura ability. She's turning out to be more durable than I expected as a result. Of course, I still make the occasional suicide run that ends in failure, but live and learn. It seems like with all my power classes I end up carrying a Talon, so she's geared that way as well. I tried the Hurricane, but I think I have it modded wrong, as I feel like I can't hit anything beyond close range and the recoil is intense. Then again, the loot gods haven't been kind to me with weapon mods as I don't have the SMG recoil mod unlocked yet.

Did they change it? You used to not be able to have duplicate names. So all of mine were HS Stele (human solder), HSe Stele (Human sentinel), and so on... Boring but whatever... cause they wouldn't let you use the same name.

They must have changed it then.

Well I did have my N7 Shadow named Shadow... and my Fury named Fury... and Juggernaut named Juggs... and Palladin named Pal.

But mostly Steles.

Ah well.

Had a lot of fun with a Valkyrie last night.

Biotic combo! Biotic combo! Biotic combo!

I give everyone names from shows I like. All the Mad Men names in particular amuse me. Bert Cooper: Volus Adept, makes sense to me.

It's a really thrilling class.

The power classes are a ton of fun--there's nothing quite like the combos. I've tried weapon-oriented classes and while there are some really nice ones, I miss the kabooms. I really need to figure out how to do tech combos as well though. I've played a few classes that should be able to pull them off (N7 Shadow, for example), but I don't seem able to make them work.

Human Engineer. IIRC, Overload followed by Incinerate is a tech explosion, going the other way is a fire explosion. Suffice to say, that character eats Geth for lunch.

I think my Krogan Warlord is named Smash and my Krogan Vanguard is Crash. The Demolisher is Boomer (not because I am a Sooners fan, because I'm not) and I named the Shadow Jinx after the female ninja G.I. Joe character. My Geth Trooper is Int and my Geth Hunter is 1101 (13 in binary). My Fury is Sia because I was listening to Sia at the time

I used my Geth Infiltrator w Piranha last night for the first time in a long time. I'd forgotten what it's like to walk into the middle of a crowd of mooks and just ... kill everything.

Edit: This is the build I was using. Each round from the Piranha does 1788, plus 20% damage reduction from the prox mine (which I always use, firing it at the feet of the enemy I'm targetting), and the Piranha fires off all 6 of its rounds rapid-fire. So that's 10728 damage without the prox mine debuff factored in, all on a build that doesn't require ultra-rares to be awesome.

I know my Fury is NINA, my human female engie BIANCA, male engie CALEB, one of my geths is GARRETH, and one of my volus is GLOTTIS. I forget who else got which name, but the names I have are:

Andrei, Ilya, Natalya, Taneshka (FemQuarian, I remember that), Kanamak, Ballice, Silk, Lillith, Lorraine, Jírike, Hersencus, Gadaban (Quarian Male I think), Eahramo, Arrigo, Turian, Nuniran, Tobrytan, and that's all I remember.

They're all names from an RPG I wrote some looooong ass time ago. Never became anything, but I liked the names.

Thanks to Glanton, Rykin and Danimal dragging me through a couple of gold matches I decided to treat myself to a reinforcements pack.

Geth JUGGERNAUT!!! Huzzah!!!

Thankyou Gentlemen. I couldn't have done it without you.

Congrats. Get him to 20, and you'll always be welcome in Gold rooms.

So Rykin, Milky Dan, Unknown and I did a Platinum on Goddess last night. Could not have gone better. I used no equipment, and I'm not sure anyone did except for a few missiles that weren't even necessary. We had a Turian Ghost w Harrier, Geth Juggernaut, Geth Trooper, and Talon Merc. We might have found the new map for Platinums.

I just promoted my engineer class, and started a human build from level 1 (Spanners is the name; aside from the obvious, intents butt pat for anyone who gets the reference).

I was scrolling through my weapons and discovered that I had a Harrier! I have no idea how long that has been sitting there!

Incidentally, my Volus is called Blobalob, but now I am worried that it is racist to call him that.

To be fair, we got ludicrously easy objectives; a couple object deliveries where it was a short walk, and an escort that led us back to the happy camping room. If it serves up the hack in the middle of the big room (otherwise known as "the worst hack in the entire game"), you're pretty much done. But, yeah, quite easy.

Bruce, the Juggernaut is great fun. You pretty much have one job--get in the way. Is actually an interesting tactical challenge to constantly try to get the enemies to attack you; it's in lots of ways a pretty challenging class to play, because people tend to really overexaggerate your survivability, so people wander off on their own and get killed. Corners are your best friend as a Juggy.

I don't think that hack on Goddess is much worse than that one on the top middle of Giant. It isn't great, though, and it would be very tough for the Jugg. Might involve some kiting (also tough for Juggs).

Don't really mind the one on Giant, as there is actually SOME cover. Goddess, you're completely exposed. The only other one that compares for me is the middle of London, which is another invitation to die. On Giant, there's some tall cover you can move behind at least a bit.

All three of them suck ass.

Spoiler:

So it turns out that the Collector Sniper Rifle can be pretty awesome. The secret is to treat it like a Mattock.

A transitional question if I may.

I am about to fill the last of my common slots. Does this mean I will never get any more of them? Should I therefore continue with recruit packs as this will now only spit out uncommons to go with the consumables?

Is sniping on Rio a thing now? I had 2 different pubbie groups specifically set up for this last night.

So the best way to use the CSR is to use the Raptor instead?

On e you've maxed out commons, buy veteran packs. With reserve packs you'll mostly just get consumables and redundant xp for your common characters forever.

Did they just happen to be groups with lots of SRs, or did they have a dedicated sniping camp?

You can still get standard human class packs with 50k xp or something... whatever the uncommon version is... so no, you're not guaranteed new stuff.

Hard to be sure, but a Juggernaut with a Widow was content to sit down at the loading dock for the bulk of the mission.

If you can top the scoreboard on Gold with a Raptor, go right ahead. Using the CSR like this turns it into a powerful gun.

I clearly don't know the right way to use the Mattock. As far as I know, it's just a heavier Raptor without a built-in scope.

I love sniping on Rio, as long as my team-mates let them get close enough for me to see.

A 20 minute solo platinum run.

His build is a Krogan Vanguard, specced for weapon damage and low recharge time, carrying a Reegar with damage boosts and incendiary ammo.

And I thought the 7 minute 4-man platinum run was crazy. I imagine you have to follow the same strategies in both cases though. Careful initial positioning and movement through the map for each wave. It makes sense that he picked the smallest map and a durable vanguard character though.

Bruce wrote:

It's a good map for sniping, but otherwise it kind of sucks. There's little decent cover and the hack point is terrible. That aside, I've landed in a few groups on various difficulties who wanted to beat the map by sniping and it never works out terribly well. Also, it's kind of boring, but I suppose that comes down to playstyle preference.
