Borderlands 2 Catch-All

Since I was late getting the DLC, I have to say one of the best things for me about the patch is doing the DLC areas and actually getting XP. It felt silly to me to go through them with my level 50 just for loot, so I did 2 of them with level 30 characters (a siren and a mechromancer) on normal mode.

Oh and randomly my level 50 guy skipped side missions that reward purple money, as I call it. Especially killing yourself for Jack for 12 was a fortuitous accident.

Lucky!

Little disappointed with the level cap increase. A while back they said, "we don't want to just tack more levels on the end so we're looking for an interesting and meaningful way to do it."

Guess they failed.

Yeah, another play-through certainly isn't the most interesting way to do it, but it at least it gives you something to do while working off those levels.

Would have loved to have see them do something wildly different with Ultimate Vault Hunter mode and charge us for it though... some crazy 'what-if' scenario where all the bandits and critters of Pandora has been corrupted and empowered by eridium or something... but oh well. I love the game, so experiencing the story over again isn't the worst option.

QFT

I totally LOL'd on this one.

I thought their reasoning was that the game was balanced for level 50, and they didn't want to just tack on more levels because the extra skillpoints would wreck that balance.

...but then they did. Oh, sorry; they cranked monster HP/damage, too. I don't think that really counts as "interesting and meaningful".

While they didn't do anything meaningful, I think that adding health regen, reworking slag, and increasing the weapon swap speed count as at least somewhat interesting.

Note to PC users: Amazon's Gold Box deal of the day is Borderlands 2 + season pass at $24.99, or separately for $19.99 (B2) and $9.99 (SP).

I totally jumped on this deal.

So... what do I do? Any good FAQ or guide pages I can take a squiz at to familiarise myself with the land of Borderlands 2? I played the first one aaaaaaaages ago and really can't remember much.

Also, I activated both the main game and season pass on steam and then went into the game and the dlc lists 3 things. But I thought there was this big extra 11 levels or something thing which was meant to be in there too?

It's an entirely new region of Pandora so you don't need to be familiar with the geography from the first game.

The 11 levels are for the level cap. Since you are starting fresh it just means you have more levels you could possibly gain.

If you're gonna play solo, I'd recommend Axton or Gaige since they have a 2nd body to help you with their action skills.

If you're playing as a group (which I recommend, even random groups online), anyone is fun to play.

Blah! Everyone is fun to play in either case!

Axton and Gaige just might have a slightly easier time at it. :p

The DLC starts being playable at level 30, and all three have their charms (so totally depends on what you like exploring and/or blowing up and/or shooting in the head).

The only thing you'll notice from the level cap/3rd play through DLC is that, like Borderlands, you can upgrade your ammo/inventory/bank capacity. The limit on raising this has gone up two levels, even if you're lower level and on your first play through. I spent a bunch of time playing in one of the non-DLC arenas with 4 of us, at around level 20, and that character had a boatload of extra purple money for upgrades....

I'm fairly addicted at this point. It's just the right amount of action, thinking, and not-thinking for where I'm at in the school year (teacher). So if you see me on, feel free to send me a message to bring on a lower level character to join you.

Ok... but my DLC only lists the season pass and those three other adventures. Shouldn't the level cap be in that list?

Also, totally not fussed on difficulty. I like a good challenge

I [finally] jumped into BL2 & the season pass, with Friday's Amazon megadeal. I so far have a level 10 Axton... making progress, slowly. Friend me up if you need someone to group with on your umpteenth playthrough.

Thanks for posting that, Roo! At least half of those codes -- even the very first one on the list -- are still active. I now have 21 golden keys.

Well I'm now level 7. Thanks to Roo for jumping into my game yesterday. Was really cool to see how flawlessly that works. Also, that sniper rifle you gave me is pretty damn sweet. Still using it now.

Also, just got the list of golden keys so when I get home tonight, I'm going to try and type them all in and see what works.

If anyone is interested, these are the ones that worked for me on PC:

I now have 28 gold keys and I haven't even been the Sanctuary yet!

Patch coming today, for all 3 systems.

PC Notes:
Update v1.5.0 (Released April 18, 2013)
General
Added support and compatibility for upcoming content, including character customizations unlocked by playing Poker Night 2.
Fixed an issue where bank and stash capacity could be exceeded. This change prevents additional items from being added to stash / bank until capacity is below the maximum -- it does not forcibly remove or delete any items.
Added a preview of available premium customizations when using a customization station so that players can see what a purchased head or skin would look like before buying.
Fixed an exploit where players could become invincible occasionally through the Siren's Res skill.
Fixed an issue that prevented players from choosing a new customization from SHiFT when creating a character immediately after redeeming a customization code.
Players are now able to type a "c" in their player name without causing the "load a character" overlay to appear while starting a New Game.

Missions
Fixed issues with the following missions that could cause players to get stuck or not be able to complete them:
Bad Hair Day
Best Minion Ever
Fixed a bug that could cause the "Wildlife Preservation" mission boss to sometimes continue fighting after the encounter in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode.
(Captain Scarlett DLC) Fixed an issue that could cause Scarlett to not drop Scarlett's Greed in the fight with Roscoe.

Equipment
Fixed a bug that caused the player's grenade count to not be saved properly if they were using a Grenadier class mod.
Fixed a bug causing Seraph items of the day to incorrectly be capped at level 55.
Rebalanced the Gunzerker's Titan class mod to be more in line other Gunzerker class mods.
Fixed an issue where the Evolution shield could incorrectly list a Recharge Delay of 0.00 seconds.
Fixed audio from Impact shields not playing when connected to another player.
Fixed an issue causing audio distortion in some cases when a transfusion projectile got stuck inside an object.

Spoiler:

I just got an item, a class mod, that says, "Class requirement Psycho".

DOH.

Yeah, when I was playing yesterday I think I only went to one of Ned's vending machines that didn't have one it in.

Really wonder when Krieg is going to be released. He has all the potential to be my favorite hunter to play.

Yeah, I've got a few of them so far. Really enjoying this game so far. Level 20 Assassin and it's been fun just going to town with a sniper rifle. Really enjoyed gaming with Roo so far as well. Need to get a few more guys together so we can beat round 2 of that Fridge area.

Sure seems like a lovely day for some Borderlands 2 Golden Key SHiFT codes, doesn't it?

PC / Mac: WT533-J99WW-ZC6JJ-TBJT3-SWKTB
Xbox 360: KBWJT-5SKSK-BBZBR-56JJ3-5KHB9
PlayStation 3: KTCBJ-ZZRCJ-W5WCT-ZB5BJ-BKKJK

These codes will be active through April 29, 2013 -- be sure to use them before then!

Woot! Free purple loot!

God knows I need it after the stupid thing I did. *sigh* You know that mission where there is a griding machine where you are meant to drop your shields that you don't want into it? It then spits out shield cores for the villiage?

Well... I may have hit the q key while hovering over a crappy shield... but my favourite SMG was already selected. As I hadn't actually clicked the crappy shield, when I hit q, it launched my favourite purple smg into the grinder. It got minced. I had a sad. *sigh*

Welp, looks like the new DLC has been 'leaked':

Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep

I still need to get my first character to level 30 so I can start the existing DLC. Speaking of which, when is a good time to do that? If I beat the game, can I keep going and do all the other quests and the DLC? Or should I jump into them when I reach level 30?

For playthrough one, probably at 30, though it is kinda hard to say since any leveling from there will put you ahead of the curve in playthrough 2. I did them as a way to level in playthrough 2 when the story missions were particularly difficult (only Torgue's and Scarlet's though).

What platform are you on? We should be able to find someone to power level you if you want.

I think Torgue and Scarlett are designed to fit in between levels 15-30, and Hammerlock is designed for level 30? I know in my DLC playthrough, I did the first two in the middle of a campaign, and then did Hammerlock after I finished the story.

edit: although like Eldon_of_Azure said, the DLC will leave you overleveled for the regular campaign--I think the DLC has in mind TVHM/when playing through the game again with another character to keep things fresh. So you don't wind up having to do the same side missions over and over again to stay leveled up.

I guess that's the way to think of Torgue and Scarlett: an alternate set of side missions for subsequent playthroughs to replace the ones that come with the original game.

I'm on PC. I've been typically just playing my own game, but have been teaming up with Roo from time to time. Also waiting for my work buddy to catch up to me as well so we can do some more of the story together. He's around level 22, so not far behind me.

Just got the achievement for getting all level 1 challenges completed!!! Woooooo!!!

Also, my character is now level 31. Close to the end now, but far out there are heaps of side quests that I have to do to get that other achievement.
