Borderlands 2 Catch-All

not spending any more money on the game.

Considering I have yet to return to Borderlands 2 since getting distracted by shiny things, I don't see myself getting it either. Glad it exists, but nowadays I have a tendency not to replay these games with all the characters classes.

Yeah, haven't booted up except for random skins and occasional 5-key code entry :/

Although, dropping $100 on a RL Loot Chest seems like a good way to spend money, right?

Nope. They are already sold out. All 5000 of them. :p

Even the news ones they're making? I think I saw one at PAX and immediately wanted one.

Well here's the order page. I'll admit, there seems to be some confusion if it's sold out already or if they haven't starting selling them...

There's an "Est. 6/6" on there and a note they will be in the warehouse in June.

I see that as haven't started selling them, so sign-up for the email alert when they release the hounds for pre-orders.

That new loot chest would be more tempting if I didn't already have the first one. Dat Marcus bobblehead, so awesome. I'll just hope the bonus DLC from this one eventually goes on sale individually. My money is that it will.

Don't forget to redeem those PAX East shift codes!

For $10

;P

From the link in the article to the Gearbox Forum: "There will be inventory/backup/storage increases in the update (Free update)" (emphasis mine) so it sounds like that'll be free.

Also, an article in the sidebar of that one isn't technically about Borderlands, but it does talk a lot about Borderlands in making it's point, and reminded me of why I like this game so much.

Ugh. Patch notes for Tues:

Changes in 4/2 Software Update (Free)
Adds new items to the Black Market:
One additional ammo upgrade for each ammo type, at 50 Eridium each.
Two more backpack storage space upgrades, at 50 and 100 Eridium respectively.
Two more bank storage space upgrades, at 50 and 100 Eridium respectively.
Increases the maximum amount of Eridium players can hold from 99 to 500.
Adds a new playthrough balanced for top-tier play: Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode.
Various bug fixes.

Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack
(Free with Season Pass, $4.99 / 400 Microsoft Points separately)
Raises level cap to 61, allowing characters to gain 11 additional levels.
Characters gain a skill point with every level from 51 to 61, for a total of 11 more skill points.
Powerful new "Ancient" E-Tech relics and rare Pearlscent-grade weapons can be picked up in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode.

And I say ugh because of the 99 eridium to 500 eridium storage capacity... while releasing a bunch of upgrades that cost 100 eridium. Would have been nice to store some up months ago when I was playing a ton and maxed out at 99 with all upgrades. :p

Hot deal on all the Borderlands 2 Content, including the DLC and first time I've seen the Season Pass on sale on PC!

$15.00 for the Season pass, already bought it, site works, loaded up on steam and everything!

Season Pass has been on sale multiple times. Cause I got it once for 25% off (GMG I think), and then it was 50% off somewhere and I was mad at myself. :p

Couldn't pass this up, been wanting BL2 for a while but was worried my system wouldn't run it well. An hour in and it's running beautifully!

Two things please:

I know I am late to the party but:

1) I finally am farming the last boss on my second playthrough, the warrior, and have killed him at least 40 times and have not seen a single orange / legendary drop. What gives?

2) The april 2 update: I pay 5 bucks and have the privilege to replay the game a THIRD time with no new quests and the off chance to get a new weapon while GRINDING upto 60? What sort of crap DLC is that? I thought gearbox was above that sort of horsesh*t.

If you have a season pass, you can skip the paying of 400 space points/5 dollars. If you do not have a season pass, you can opt out of spending the money, and get the third playthrough for free. You will not, however, be able to level past 50, so good freaking luck with that. The people who have the season pass or pay the money can continue to level up from 50 to 61. I'm pretty sure everyone gets the ability to now find Pearlescent weapons, so maybe you can get an Orange/Legendary?

There are no new quests in the sense of new content, but it looks like you can reset quests and do them over:

Unlike other playthroughs, Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode can be replayed multiple times with players able to reset their overall mission progress at any time from the Main Menu.

So really the $5 unlock is for Gearbox's maths for balancing levels 51+?

Pearlescent weapons too. It's basically the "Crank it to 11" stuff from Borderlands 1's General Knoxx DLC without any new story content to go with it.

Scratched wrote:

No--you can't reset missions right now, and I'm almost sure you couldn't in the first Borderlands, either. Hopefully this is a way of farming unique weapons so you don't have to do stuff like the King Wee-Wee 'wait until you're at max level and then hope you get something good or quit without saving' headache. (edit) Also a way of 'grinding' where you don't just have to go kill things, you can reset the missions and do them over and over as much as you like. It it works the way it reads like it should, it's a pretty cool upgrade.

Here's the full list from that link:

Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode is unlocked for a character once they have completed the main story missions in True Vault Hunter Mode and reached level 50.
Unlike other playthroughs, Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode can be replayed multiple times with players able to reset their overall mission progress at any time from the Main Menu.
No more tutorial missions -- characters in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode begin in Southern Shelf with the "Cleaning Up the Berg" mission.
While playing in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode, enemies and bosses will scale according to the player's current level or, if playing with others, the highest-level player in that party.
Gameplay changes in UVHM:
Enemy health generally increased 4x.
Enemies now have a moderate amount of health regeneration.
Increased duration of slag damage multiplier effect.
Upped the damage that slagged enemies take from 2x to 3x.
Weapon swap speed increased to better facilitate slag use.
Enemies now more likely to drop ammo.
Loot Midgets are now "Legendary Loot Midgets" that can drop Legendary and other top-tier gear.

I kinda wish they would retroactively patch True Vault Hunter Mode and Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode into the original game since the naming is a lot less bland than "Playthrough 2".

I almost never use slag single player. I would sometimes with my commando, to have the autoturret get bonus damage. This might make it worth it.

The only thing I've farmed so far is "The Bee", which I actually got first as a random drop from a chest. Discovered its awesomeness, and decided I want another.
While I don't see me resetting missions to farm, going through the whole thing again for more loot seems very cool.

What I'm wondering is, can I assume that taking my level 50 into the DLC in True Vault Hunter Mode will start leveling me as well? I guess you wouldn't get pearlescent, whatever that is, but would I get phat loot nonetheless?

I don't want to hear it. Their schedule has always been to release them around 1 or 2 pm pacific... I start work at 2 pm pacific.

Edit: Looks like they are an hour ahead of schedule today. :p

Has anyone played through the game on the Vault Hunter Mode? Are the enemies actually smarter (use different tactics, take cover better etc) & not just bullet sponges? Did find the first time through the campaign a tad easy (3 players, when I had it on my PS3), looking forward to getting through the PC version with all the bells & whistles & Physic X.

I am not the whole way through it but the biggest changes I have see are that they tend to be faster and better equipped. It forces you to find good strategies and work smarter rather than just waiting for your skill to recharge and mowing them down.

I got the update about nine hours ago; don't have a character high enough to use the new mode yet, so not sure if it's working, but I did get the download. Also, stuff about the new mode here:

It's not so much that they are smarter, but they are tougher. They are leveled to your character, and they start to have more elemental properties and resistances. So instead of a bullymong, you'll get a bullyrott, which is a bullymong that does corrosive damage.

Human enemies will have more shields or other resistances, so you really need to think more tactically about using slag and having one of each element equipped so you can be constantly switching weapons to use the appropriate element against your enemies.

I got a Rapid Infinity pistol the second time killing Doc Mercy. Wasn't even trying for it and in fact did not even know of it's existence, only reason I killed him again was he glitched the first time and I couldn't loot the E-Tech weapon for the quest. Only a level 6 weapon, but a gun I never run out of ammo for and never have to even reload, at that early of a level? It's definitely getting significant use, and when it outlives that usefulness I'll stash it for another character.

Yeah I kept a level 8 or something Infinity Pistol probably for 20 levels. It was still useful for various things, never running out of ammo.
