Justified thread

Well, one obvious payout...then the show imperils someone who I don't think was even by the grill in anyone's pool.

She's safe.

I still have my money on Augustine.

Cousin Johnny

Certainly pointing that way. He has pretty much burned every possible bridge at this point.

Paleocon wrote:

Probably...but something really bad will happen there that makes Raylan pay for not signing the important documents she needed him to sign.

Cousin Johnny seems so trapped, I wouldn't be surprised if he lives somehow.

What did Boyd say to Colt? Why did Colt do suicide by cop? Did Boyd tell him this was his chance to make things right?

As far as the death pool: Now that the obvious is out of the way, we can get down to business.

I wish I could go with my earlier call of Ava Crowder. It's just too interesting for Raylan and Boyd if she dies. However, I'm not sure there are enough episodes left to play this out in the way you'd want to.

As for Raylan's ex-wife, I think she's safe because killing an innocent pregnant lady is a hell of a dark turn compared to this show's normal tone.

Cousin Johnny is probably in police custody now. If the writers will throw Arlo away for no reason, they will do him too, I'm sure. I just don't know that it's happening this season.

After seeing the preview for next week, I think Raylan will find an excuse to kill Augustine. He's an angry, angry man, with a kid on the way. Little Nicky will be in hell by the end of the season.

Spoiler:

I figure it was a simple "Shoot Ellen-may" and he couldn't bring himself to do it, then when Tim turned up he decided he was screwed whatever he did.

That makes sense, except that Augustine was right next to him, and he wanted Ellen May alive.

He is a coke head, just didn't see a clear path out of this mess. Plus his life was probably already forfeit by
letting Ellen-May slip his grasp. (again)

*cough* Heroin *cough*

Tim vs Colt was so good in the last few episodes

Anyone know why Colt shot Mort? I thought maybe to do a favor for Boyd.

I can see Augustine dragging Winona into the mix being reason enough for Raylan to end him. And since it seems like that's what was suggested, my money is on Augustine biting it before long. As for Cousin Johnny, after trying to screw over Boyd and subsequently being screwed by Augustine, I don't see where he'd fit in. Don't get me wrong, I like the character, but he'd start to feel irrelevant before long on his own.

I can see him going state's evidence to save his own skin.

You know, all things considered, I think Justified is the best show on television right now.

It's definitely the one I look forward to the most.

I'm also not watching Game of Thrones - no HBO, and I've read the books twice, so it seems like something to watch way in the future.

While Breaking Bad and Mad Men aren't on, it pretty indisputably is.

I'm pulling for Cousin Johnny to escape somehow. And something really bad is going to happen with Winona--it won't be a cleanly handled situation. Really wild call:

Spoiler:

Raylan ends up in jail somehow.

I wouldn't mind seeing Raylan go down a darker path, but I don't see the show turning into a prison show, either.

Season 3 on Blu-Ray is $19.99 right now on Amazon.

I waited for this one to get really cheap before I picked it up.

Not sure I'll be able to wait quite so long after Season 4 releases before I buy it.

Damn, that episode hasn't generated a single post yet?

"Relax...you're still in the limo."

"Let's talk about how to keep this from being the worst day of your life."

"Well...I'm suspended."

Many great moments last night, with the car ride with Raylan and Boyd possibly the high mark. Ava's latest developments, and Boyd's deal with Wynn Duffy, seem unlikely to bring about the Raylan/Boyd team-up I hoped for.

Pretty strong season overall, and though I liked the bare-knuckle boxer episodes at the time, now they and the prison-escapee episodes kind of seem like filler.

Shall we now evaluate our death predictions?

Spoiler:

I was right on all counts. ;)

Also an outside chance, Ellen May, but I think it's more likely she flips on Ava, who goes to jail.

Damn, nice shootin', lawman! (spoiler tags mine)

I cackled with glee when they resolved what was assumed to be the plot of the whole ep before the credits. And they did it with maximum bad-assery--an Oh sh*t for sure.

Fedaykin98 wrote:

Heh, thank you.

Spoiler:

I didn't think it terribly likely they'd kill Ava, since she's the shows best female character, if not the female lead. Boyd also seems unlikely to die before the end. But, their engagement ensured something bad would happen, and Ava getting busted was certainly bad.

Anyways, here's an interview with showrunner Graham Yost, which is very interesting.

Great finale. Great season. Not *quite* season 2 levels, but that's a really damn high bar.

Sounds like a lot of this season just kind of came together while they were making it. Definitely a cool interview.

I watched the supposed death of Drew tonight only to see the resurrection of Bobby afterwards.

Told ya so. Colt and Augustine.

Lots of cool loose ends for next season too.

Who are they going to bring in for the next bad boss?

Maybe we'll get lots of Wynn Duffy (please oh please oh please)?

I'm expecting Quarles to show up again some day as the one-armed man, but not this soon.

I suspect Wynn will be too busy to be screwing around in Harlan. Also, him being there would imply that Boyd is screwing up, which I doubt will happen, even given his current distractions.

Do you think Quarles could have survived? There would be a lot of blood loss from losing an arm, and it didn't look like anyone was all that interested in calling 911.

Quarles is dead as disco.

If quarles had lived i think they would have mentioned it.

So...that means he could come back, right?

Maybe, but I don't believe they ever said. Boyd got shot in the chest in the pilot, and they didn't specify whether he lived or died in the end, IIRC, and they brought him back.

Quintin_Stone wrote:

From TV Guide interview:

You once again used the song, "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" in the finale. Why did you skip last season?

Yost: Well, our feeling was that Quarles [Neal McDonough] didn't die at the end of season 3. He got his arm chopped off, but you can tie a belt around his bicep and save his life. So, it just didn't feel appropriate to use the song. This year, with the death of Arlo, we felt it was almost more appropriate than any other use we had of it.

I was pretty sure he was dead too.
