The Pile, It Ends

Pages

So, it's with a heavy heart, that I declare this my last pile thread. I've got new work responsibilities and I'm not going to be able to keep up with this in the fashion I'd like to. So, that being said let's go out with a bang!

If you're interested, m0nk3yboy, has the 12 month pile plan thread over here.

A quick reminder, in order to be considered "Pile of Shame" the game needs to be at least three months old. Otherwise, it's just a new game you haven't gotten to playing yet.

Also, if you are curious about some of the previous threads, Pick's of the Pile, etc... Please go here and check out the Google doc I setup.

Let's get on to the games!

This month's Pick of the Pile is

XCOM: Enemy Unknown

"Threatened by an unknown enemy, the Earth’s governments unite to form an elite paramilitary organization, known as XCOM, to combat this extraterrestrial attack. As the commander of XCOM, you control the global defense team in a battle against a terrifying alien invasion by creating a fully operational base, researching alien technologies, planning combat missions, and controlling soldier movement in battle." I'm rolling over Crysis 2. I've got about 7 chapters left.

I'll carry over Resident Evil: Revelations (3DS). Otherwise, I'm reluctant to commit to anything since I only have epic-length games left on the pile.

Hopefully going back to Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty (PC) after finishing BioShock: Infinite. Don't think I'll get to anything else with a couple of JRPGs coming in the mail.

I'm not sure what to commit to since shedding over 70 titles in the 12 month thread just recently (with some great moral support).

Stage 1

Stage 2

Traded them in for some cool swag, but Monster Hunter is getting it's portable hooks into me, and I fired up Bioshock Infinite last night and lost 3 hours to it without even blinking.

I'll get back to you.

I'm rolling over Deus Ex (PC). I really dug the midgame, but the end is a bit slower. Third month's the charm, I guess.

I would also like to declare Tron: Evolution (360/Multi), though I may end up dropping it. The first half hour was really promising, showing off some of the neat mechanics of the game, but after a couple hours it's clear it wasn't given enough polish (not surprising for a movie tie in game). So it's okay, but unless the mechanics grow on me, I'm playing it because it's Tron. On the other hand, I could just watch the movies again to get my Tron fix.

Didn't BioShock Infinite come out like last week? That definitely is eligible yet.

I think I am going to go for Far Cry 3 this month, with maybe some Lego Batman 2 to spice it up - both on 360.

No idea since I finished off Wind Waker with 30 minutes (technically 11:28) left in the month last night.

That's why I removed the system designation :p

Put me down for Shank and Mark of the Ninja, both on PC.

Here's a start:

Waking Mars (Multi) - Playing on Android - I'm close to the end, I think.
Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts (PC) - installed
Theatrhythm (3DS) - To consider this complete I want to achieve 'S' on all Basic levels, and 'A' on all Expert levels. Anything after that is gravy.

Going for Morrowind on ye olde PC; gotta finish the main quest someday.

Also doing Infamous on the PS3, The Gunstringer on 360, and finally Cthulhu Saves the Word. Something tells me this is the month where I break my streak, but none of the games are particularly large if I stick to the main game mostly - I'm looking at you, Morrowind!

Still only about 2/3 through Etrian Odyssey (NDS), so that's getting carried over. Also with the announcement of M&M 10 I figured I'd best get caught up, so I'm a reasonable chunk of the way through Might and Magic 4 - Clouds of Xeen. (PC) (Technically 4 & 5 since the two games are combined, but I'm sticking with the content for "4" for now).

I think I should be able to finish Persona 4: Golden on Vita this month. Very tempted to try and play some serious Dark Souls this month as well.

I'm going to carry over XCOM: Enemy Unknown (Multi-platform) as well as Skyrim's Dawnguard (Multi-Platform), and declare Thomas Was Alone (Multi-Platform) for now.

I am going to be aggressive and declare the following this month:

Heavy Rain (PS3)
Torchlight 2 (multi) - playing on PC, and about 2/3 done
Saints Row The Third (multi) - playing on PC and about 1/4 done
Uncharted 3 (PS3)

I will probably do more, but with two of the games above being such time sinks, I'll wait and see...

I haven't been following too closeley, but since when is Torchlight 2 multiplatform?

I'm not carrying over. I'm not in an adventure game playing mood at the moment I will put down Kingdoms of Amalur. It is multi-platform, though I'll be playing it on the PC.

It isn't..... PC only.

Good catch. I thought it launched simultaneously on PC and XBLA, but nope, I'm wrong.

Waking Wars sounds like a dreadful reality TV show about insomniacs. =)

Might be awesome...

Did I mention I've been in meetings for 3 hours? Brain is operating on a whole different level.

Seeing as this is my last chance, I better start participating! :p

If I've counted up my time correctly, I should be touching three games this month, all from the pile of shame. Not sure if the last will complete it this month or not, but the other two will fall this month:

Batman: Arkham City (Multi)
RAGE (Multi)
XCOM: Enemy Unknown (Multi)

It is with no small amount of shame that I carry over Rayman Origins for the Wii. Rayman Origins, people!

I'm going to take a couple of big bites out of my pile by tackling Dishonored(PC) and Arkham Asylum(360) this month.

I took down Dishonored last month... it was great. Savor it.

I had a good month in March, finishing 3 out of 4 pile games. I didn't finish the main quest of Oblivion, which was my reasoning for going back to it. I swore to discard it off my pile after March regardless but I can't bring myself to do so!

April:

Oblivion (Multi)
Metro 2033 (Multi)

I'll be rolling over Sleeping Dogs (Multi) and Spec Ops (Multi) to April but I'm already guessing that Spec Ops might be still there come May.

*whisper* I'd rather play Bioshock Infinite. */whisper*

Okay, so for the third month in a row, Dishonored (Multi) and Sleeping Dogs (Multi) will be on the pile list. And they WILL be defeated. DEFEATED I SAY!

Merkaba wrote:

...Yeah, that's totally what I'm actually playing right now....And then maybe Tomb Raider...I'm a monster.
