Firefall Catch-All

Yeah, I was able to get in, but there are lots of server issues rolling around, and I can't use anything that requires SIN access.

Think I'll revisit tomorrow, and hope things are a little more stable.

I was finally able to get in, look at everything, sigh, then leave.

The tutorial was nice, though.

If you get a SIN access error, try /rui, it fixed most of the SIN errors that popped up for me.

Very basic crafting info.

And the servers are supposed to be back up.

I was able to work out the crafting system enough to build an upgrade to my Bastion battleframe. The default Accord Engineer frame has a Heavy Turret, I made one of those to replace the Bastion's Energy Wall ability. So I can now toss down 4 turrets and back them up with a Sentinel Pod. Works well. Being able to pick and choose your frame's abilities (to a degree) holds a lot of promise.

Stanley Striker's Unite! Soon!
Ok, but really I need a Mission statement before I can create the army, but I can't really think of anything. And since this is supposed to be the embodiment of GWJ, some community effort in coming up with one is for the best. Fire away!

Don't be a jerk.

Edit: OK, that's not really a mission statement.

Have fun!

We came, we scanhammered, we thumped.

OK, I'm really not good at these sorts of things.

Perfect!

We solve problems with violence?

What the heck? My friends list was deleted, having to resend friend invites... [grr]

Also, keep the mission statement recommendations coming.

What the heck? My friends list was deleted, having to resend friend invites... [grr] Sounds like a good Mission Statement as any.

I plan on making my first 2013 appearance in Firefall tonight 9ish PM central time for anyone who wants to join me. Installing the most recent mini patch (45mb?) as we speak

Latest patch claims to deal with the issues with the crafting UI that required frequent forced UI resets (the /rui). No word on the connectivity problems but I was able to log in and out a few times last night without any delays.

WooT, patching now.

Nice, they added a search function to the Crafting UI.

If you are still on after 1030pm, I would be more than happy to squad up for a larger thumping group.

Playing through tutorial. DROP SHIPS!!!

I haven't read any of the patch updates so I'm like a kid on Christmas. So many surprises!

I will be around starting tomorrow evening, and plan on playing for a couple of hours.

Would love to squad up and do some thumper runs, though I had a good time checking out some of the ARES stuff with Granite when I hopped on briefly earlier today.

So you mean Saturday night? I would definitely be up for it.

I played for a little and had to duck out right before the west coast guys joined. It was nice catching up and experiencing some of the new stuff. Need to figure out the progression tables and crafting.

I'll be on tonight to join you experts.

I'm going to need someone to give me a 2 minute drill down on vent of the new resource system or point me to a link. I see this beta crystite converter. Should I convert all my old stuff (ferrite, azurite, etc) to this?

What are these ceramics and can I convert old stuff to this? I need 10K for an updrade.

The old minerals are all converted to Beta Crystite. At some point a vendor will be added, where you will spend that Beta Crys.

The ceramics are one of the 15 minerals you can thump, currently. Take a look at this.

Sitting here watching the PAX East Panel, I think I fundamentally misunderstood the new thumper changes. It looks like squads for thumping are more of a formality than anything else, all players that help with a thumping get a shared cut of the resources. I think I understand why advanced thumpers are so, so difficult now.

Had a good run with some folks earlier, got to see what invasion would look like, had it worked right, it probably would have been fairly difficult. They really need to find a bit better balance on Chosen invasions.
I think I may need to get a small notebook to keep track of all the "II" manufacturing recipes.

Awesome, this explains why they announce thumping in the area!

I'm definitely back into Firefall. Logged in this morning to refine some resources.

I didn't think it was a full share though. The things that stood out to me in the patch notes were:

Personal Thumpers are designed for 1-2 players. Resources recovered are split amongst the squad.
Squad Thumpers are designed for full squads. Resources are shared equally amongst the squad (no splitting).
Completing a thumper to 100% yields a double resource bonus.
Completing a thumper to 100% results in an XP reward for the squad.
If you help a squad with their thumper, you will receive a small resource reward from the Accord.
Thumpers now have global mapmarkers – check your map to find a nearby squad with an open slot that is digging for a resource you need.

Heh. Logged into a watchtower with a wall of melding right in front of my face.

The resources you get for helping out a non-squad thump is really small. I'd say it's about 40 of whatever was being mined. Also you don't have to stick around the full time, just killing one thing around the Thumper will get you the bonus.

What's the best way to report a player/army? There's an army named [gRAPE] with a member named RapeTyrant. I'm light hearted about most things but this crosses the line, imo.

You could always submit a bug report, or send a message to a DEV on the forums.

Good runs tonight, including 100%ing a thumper on the last try with WizKid and Bigred, after a half-dozen false starts.

Apparently there are some mini-bosses scattered around the world now - don't know if they are totally random spawns, but "Megalus" here popped up while I was solo thumping .

A little hard to tell in this screenshot, but he's probably 20-25 feet tall. Was quite the surprise.
