I Just Got a PS2, Recommend Me Games!

Oh god I remember that game. I just loved the fact that you got to play as Jean Reno. A complete absurd game and that's the only thing I still remember about it after beating it years ago.

I never enjoyed the Dynasty Warriors series, but I loved all 3 Onimusha games. I don't really think they're similar. I wish Capcom would make another Onimusha.

Onimusha 3 looks insanecrazy. I must have it.

I love the first one. It is easily my favorite of the 3. I think 3 is the next best but also the craziest, and the 2nd just wasn't memorable to me.

So tonight I fired up the first Baldur's Gate for the first time. I was enjoying myself until the game went super freaking buggy in the first sewer and crashed. Dammit.

I then loaded up Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, and DAMN I had fun with that. Can't wait to get 3 other people in on that one.

That is a fun one to play with other people, as long as one isn't trying to be the most annoying person ever.

Holy crap! I was in Gamestop looking at some dynasty warriors games because veloxi piqued my interest when I saw they have a Gundam Dynasty Warriors game series. It basically is Dynasty Warriors with Gundam characters. I get to BE Gundam Zero. Only saw it on 360, but still, not bad for $5.

HEh, I saw the second DW: Gundam in GS today for about $18. Funny that.

Hey guys, anyone have any suggestions for fun, simple 4-player racing games? The best I've seen is Crash Team Racing so far, based on reviews and such.

That's because CTR is the best by a long shot. Find that game!

Hahahaha, alright, will do!

The original CTR was a PS1 game. They had a second one (crash nitro cart, or something like that) but I only played it a little and didn't like it quite as much.

Yeah, been reading up on CTR, apparently if I use a PS1 multitap on the PS2, it'll work fine.

Ah, that's right. But still, it might be the best option even for PS2 for a fun, 4 player racer.

So I played some CTR, crude graphics, but FUN gameplay, can't wait to try it with 3 other folks. Also, it's weird, the PS2 multitap works perfectly with CTR, wheras the PS1 multitap didn't do anything, which was the opposite of what I'd read.

I also snagged some more games, both from and against friends' recommendations. First is Star Wars: Racer Revenge, which, based on the two races I've run, is AWESOME.

Then there's Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter, which once I heard was a spacey shootey game with Jedi powers, I just HAD to try, even against recommendations. So far it's been fun in a batsh*t crazy way.

Next up, I snagged a cheap copy of Gladius on ebay, can't wait to try it.

Yaaaaay!

So I just got around to finally playing a little bit of Gladius, and sh*t did I like it. A LOT. I totally wanna play more.

Got War of the Monsters the other day too, only played a little bit but WOW it's fun!

It really is.

Yeah, I really enjoyed Gladius. It doesn't seem like people cared for it very much, but I had a lot of fun with it.

Really? Most folks I've spoken to about it either never played it or can't stop singing its praises.

If it hasn't been recommended, I would reccommend the Maximo games.

Well, I guess it would be more accurate to say that the game was met with total indifference in the marketplace. It never got much buzz, and it didn't sell well at all.

But I really liked it.

Well, it was a non-Star Wars Lucasarts game, so that's unsurprising. I was actually working at an EB when it came out so I remember folks going "What is this?".

I've heard those are quite good. The next games I've got my eyes on are Mercenaries and Psi-Ops too.

Dragon Quest VIII which I think is better than Ni No Kuni.

ARISE THREAD!

So I just moved! YAY! This makes my commute MUCH shorter! YAY! What's ALSO awesome is that I am RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET from an amazing classic game shop that has everything from NES carts to PS4 games. To help keep them in business, I purchased a few PS2 games from 'em, namely:

Tourist Trophy - Read it was excellent, so I tried the arcade mode, which was fun, but WOW do I suck at it. Looks pretty good too.
Jak and Daxter - This was real cheap and I got it for free as part of a sale, but haven't played it yet. The salesman was so earnest about it I couldn't say no.
Mercenaries - FINALLY, been wanting to play this, and maybe 30-60 minutes in, it didn't disappoint. WOW this game is gleeful in it's destructive playground. Can't wait to play more!

So yay, more PS2 goodness. I was shocked that they didn't have a copy of SSX Tricky, which everyone tells me I HAVE to play yet apparently people hold onto quite strongly.

Jak and Daxter

I had a good time with that one. If the salesman was being earnest about it, that means he's likely a real gamer, and worth listening to.

Sounds like it's probably a very good store.

Sweet. The town where I live has a couple of stores like that. They're jewels to be sure.

Oh yeah, it's where I got my PS2 Slim originally, so I couldn't be happier they're now a stones throw away.

They so are, I just wish they also had classic PC games as well, but oh well.

Dark Cloud 1 or 2, Odin sphere, Burnout games, Splash Down, any of the Time Splitters, Sky Odyssey.

What kind of games do you want to play?

I've got Burnout Revenge and LOVE it. I do love racing games, RPGs, action adventure games, etc etc. I basically will play just about anything except sports games, but my knowledge and experience with JRPGs is very limited.
