Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Catch-All – Shepards with Jobs

As the geth trooper is one of the very few classes I still haven't unlocked, why exactly is his flamer better? Is it different? Or is it just because of his passives or something?

Better passives. Fortification gives lots of damage resistance and boosts power damage by 30% while active, contrasted with bloodlust which adds 5% power damage per stack (max 3 I believe).

Plus having more shields seems to be superior to having lots of health + health regen but low shields.

I will say while the Geth Trooper is more effective, the Vorcha is just way the hell more fun.

Daddy has a new girlfriend - her name is Collector Rifle.

The geth trooper helped me realize that it's the flamethrower making that squeaky noise, not the vorcha.

Huzzah on that, Milk

Indeed. Good job. I'm still a fair way off that glorious achievement

You guys are making me jealous.

I really don't want to farm some of the crappy weapons though...

I guess I could play bronze but Eww...

Play silver with a soldier class. (I hope you still have soldier waves to farm too, right? ;))

Hm... maybe...

I shudder every time I pass by the SMG challenge.

I've got 3/5. The Hurricane, Hornet, and Collector SMG are not that bad. I really wish I had the Blood Pack Punisher, because I doubt it can be any worse than the rest of the SMGs.

Tempest on a Turian Soldier can be quite entertaining, I'd recommend that for #4.

Also: official confirmation that weekend events are over.

Got my first Harrier! That thing really chews through ammo.

I like the Locust, for SMGs.

Figures.

Would be really nice if they repeat the old ones for challenges.

Or patch in some sort of random challenge generator.

I mean they did just get a bunch of new users probably from the free SimCity game thing. If they still had the appearance of an active game those people might buy some packs. Oh well.

May I have an invite to the steam group? My Steam link is in my sig.

Dumb noob question:

I looked at my stats and it says under my two characters that I always play that they have never been promoted.

What's that and why should I promote them? I mean, what's the advantage?

You get a giant epeen. I mean huuuuuge.

Essentially it increases your N7 rating by 10, then you get to level the character again. Also that character gets sent to single player as a war asset.

When you promote a class, all the characters in that class are reset to level 1. Also, when a character is created for the first time, he has the first point set in the default power, after you promote the class, that point is no longer defaulted but can be set as you choose. Its a way to 'respec' without having to burn a respec card.

Do note that promoting a class (example, Soldiers) resets all of your soldiers to level 1. So you'd have to level them individually to 20 again.

And that's something I want?

It took me ages, AGES, to get to level 20 with my character!

Because going back to level 1 means it's time to screw around on Bronze with characters you don't use and weapons you're not a fan of. In other words, it's just fun. I promoted several classes yesterday and played a few Bronze rounds, and it's kind of nice to be able to not have to watch your back constantly.

Also if you built a character wrong you can re-level them instead of using a respec card.

But as you're collecting new classes, the best thing to do is save up money as you play and then promote right before you buy a bunch of packs in the store. You'll get new character cards that come with free bonus xp, and get some of your newly promoted classes leveled to 8, 12, 14, or so without even playing them!

Congratulations Milky Dan!

Yes, sometimes its something you want. Want to try a different spec? Screwed up a spec? The devs changed something so a different spec works better for you than your current one? Want to learn a class inside and out, by leveling him up again? These reasons and the posts above are why you might want to promote. Also its a lot faster leveling up since you are familiar with the game, have better weapons and gear, and can effectively move into silver for the last 4 to 6 levels without screwing over your team. And like Stele said, you can buy some packs (Recruit and Veteran) to get cards that give you XP. I went through and promoted everyone about two weeks again, at the same time. When I went in to level them back up I bought a bunch of packs, two of the classes started at level 5, one at 9, one at 14. Forgot what the others were at, but none of them were level 1.

Prior to the promotion, my collector adept was a mess. Leveling him back up to 20 let me learn the ins and outs of his powers in a no pressure setting. When all you have is one power, you learn how to get the most from it. Now I have a much better handle on him.

What do I do with this N7 Slayer Vanguard the RNG gave me today?

6/0/6/6/6 (I think. Looking at N7HQ shows a different power order than in-game maybe? :?)

Either way, just skip Slash.

Just PD blast stuff until your shield is low, then charge to refill it. Maybe carry a shotgun. Also heavy melee a lot because it's awesome beheading enemies.
