Wii U Catch-All

A Director's Cut edition of Deus Ex: Human Revolution announced for Wii U. I first heard this and was like "They're putting a 2011 game on Wii U, like why?" but it looks like they're going all out. Extensive GamePad use, updated graphics more in line with the PC version, fixed boss battles and a bunch of other stuff. Not going to lie, this looks like it could be a blast on Wii U. I finished it on PC but I've been itching to play it again and might do so on the Wii U. If you haven't played this amazing game yet and have a Wii U, this looks like the version to get.

I'm right here with you. I beat it on the PC but I don't mind double dipping. What I hope this means is that the sequel is announced at E3 and comes to the Wii U as well.

Anyone have experience with NFSMW on the Wii U and another system? I'm curious if all the hype about it being the best version on the Wii U is just PR hype or not.

I like MW but I think it's vastly overrated in general. The game is way too samey after a few hours.

I actually skipped Deus Ex: HR before, so the promise of an even better version on the Wii U has me interested. Hooray for prospective cyberpunky goodness!

Cool. If this is at the S-E booth this weekend, I'll try and take a look. Probably not going to double dip unless they later confirm they're not patching the PC version with the changes. Although I'll probably steer Demyx toward this version when she gets around to checking it out.

After spending too much money over lunchtime at Target by taking advantage of stacking the B2G1 sale and a couple of 5% off offers, I am now the proud owner of the new Lego U game. On the nitpicky side, the reviewers were not exaggerating when they were complaining about the load times. Also, the decision to map two buttons to the gas pedal while relegating jumping to waggle when driving is baffling.

Other than these minor quibbles the small time I spent with the game before turning over the controller to my anxiously waiting son was pretty good. Even though it is not based on a license this game is going to have A LOT of reference humor if the first few minutes are any indication. Many of them are going to go over most kids' heads and possibly some young adults as well. (For example, there is a Dirty Harry reference in the opening tutorial at the police station). However, my son seems to really be enjoying it as there are also plenty of kid friendly sight gags as in the other Lego games.

Second this...I've been meaning a second playthrough and it sounds like this version is the way to go.

Anecdote: three high-profile releases this week seems to have sparked a bit of Wii U interest in my area. I was in four stores today hunting down a copy of Lego City Undercover, and each store had only the basic Wii U sets left. They've had plenty of Deluxes in the past two months. Maybe it'll break 100k this month!

My six-hour-a-day Monster Hunter habit kept me from actually playing Lego City Undercover, of course. It's also why I'm up at 1:10am. I really need to shake that.

I really hope a kick of new releases will spark consumer interest in the Wii U again. If sales continue as they have been the last two months, it will be hard to call it anything but a failure and I so want it to succeed. I really love this thing. But I'm confident Nintendo knows the problem and will have lots to show at E3.

Assuming we don't end up using our tax return for baby things, I'm hoping to be able to get a deluxe unit in the next month or so.

Ugh, my tax return is already claimed for the final payment on one of our cars. Maybe Christmas...

Two words: price drop.

Supposedly, it got a £50 price drop in the UK. I wouldn't be surprised to see a discount in the US, too.

One word: Games.

OK, I got my Uboost. It's essentially a clip-on portable battery charger.

So, am I supposed to fully charge the thing before I use it, or do I let it drain down before giving it its first full charge? The meager instructions don't advise as to that.

I would charge it fully before using.

Tearing myself away from Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate long enough to let everyone know that Zen Pinball 2 is on the eShop now! Download is free, individual downloadable tables are not.

You are such a tease. You keep dropping hints but no announcement.

Does it come with a free table like Pinball Arcade?

I got a Wii U deluxe yesterday used and I have to say it is great! I picked up Lego City: Undercover and my kids and I had a blast playing for a few hours!

I really hope this thing takes off because it is quite wonderful.

We started playing Lego City last night and had a blast. I wasn’t expecting it to have so many cultural references and kept having to explain to my daughter why I was laughing so much.

So seeing as the UBoost constantly charges the Wiipad battery, should I leave it on or should I only turn it on when the pad's about to run out of juice?

I hate batteries. Damn you, Edison! Tesla was so close!

If it's like the other console versions I believe it comes with three or four.

Turn it on when it gets low.

Do we have a guild or separate thread for MH3? I want in - SpyNavy.

Just checked this out yesterday, it comes with a grand total of zero free tables. There are demos of several tables included, and more free demos you can download in the eShop. And of course, all the tables are for sale in the eShop.

Packs of tables are $9.99, and I want to say individual tables are $2.99 but I could be wrong because my brain just kind of shut down just thinking about it and I can't remember now.

So, I might be getting a Wii U. Is it completely ridiculous that I'm considering getting a Basic unit just because it's white? That's dumb, right?

Not really, I was disappointed that the Deluxe only came in black. I prefer my electronics to be white or silver.

No, not really. Fingerprints.

Consider how much eShop games you're going to buy, do you want to get that 10% discount for the next year and a bit? If you don't care, just get the basic.

Even with the Deluxe having more memory, I bought an external HD anyway. That's basically it, the 10%. And a charging cradle, which is nice, but not essential.
