Company of Heroes 2 - From who? Ze Germans?

With the merger my dream of Dawn of Total War is closer to reality, I can only hope. I have not been a fan of Dawn of War or DoW 2.

I got to know a good chunk of the GWJer crew specifically through the 2v2 Dawn of War 2 tournaments. It'll be nice to have a group of people to play games with without having to look hard.

Indeed! Good times

Really hope they make this even better than the original CoH. If such a thing is possible.

If a moving tank an be used as a form of cover, I call hat good.

The DoW 2 tournaments were fun! Still playing CoH Blitzkrieg mod so really looking forward to this!

I loved DoW 1, one of my all-time favorites. I didn't like the sequel nearly as well. it's much too twitchy.

Oh man, I'm getting excited for this. CoH was my most favorite RTS ever. My only concern is that I might not have much time to play the game, seeing as my first kid will be born about a month before the game comes out.

I'm actually a little relieved that the game has been pushed back a bit. It'll give time for all the people who are jumping back into SC2 with the release of the expansion to play a few months and then move on.

Yeah, that is one thing THQ wasn't good at. They always picked horrible release dates for their products.

You'll be fine. They don't do much for the first few months. Eat, sleep and poop. You'll have plenty of time. Just not for multiplayer because you'll need to be able to drop what your doing at a moments notice.

CoH1 moving to steamworks, because the Quazal servers are shutting down.

Oh and the CoH2 release date: June 25th, the beta, and a few other things

Is CoH going to be steamworks too? Was Dawn of War 2? I cannot remember.

DoW2: Retribution is steamworks.

CoH1 was relic online, I guess with the Quazal back-end. DoW2 was GFWL, DOW2:Retribution was steamworks, and I'm pretty sure CoH2 was always going to be steamworks.

I'm just hoping this change doesn't involve another huge patch where they need to download the whole game again.

I forgot DOW2 was GFWL with the mandatory steam install, and how I shelved it not long after purchase; or whatever the equivalent of shelving is for a digital game.

Sweet. I always have a hell of a time remembering my Relic Online info when I go back to that game.

Having it just be Steamworks would be excellent.

Indeed. Good news!

Really looking forward to this now. Just have to decide whether the special edition is worth it since I already have all of the CoH and expansions.

There's a massive patch downloading on Steam for Opposing Fronts. Is that the Steamworks patch already?

The online servers for CoH1 have been super problematic for several weeks now, so I suspect that's lit a real fire under their arses to port the multiplayer to Steamworks instead. It's really cool that they're not abandoning the old title. It's a good game, and it doesn't deserve to die because of a flaky multiplayer service.

Just played a bunch of CoH this morning and it really rekindled all those good feeling I have about CoH. Come on CoH 2, I'm all giddy with excitement!

If you want in on the closed beta (which is already active, from what I can tell), you can get one from PCgamer here!

Sweet. I'm in.

Nuts! All 20,000 have been claimed. Stupid timezones. I just had to be sleeping didn't I?!?!

DANG IT

for those who are in... I'm curious on how base-building is handled. It seems like I may be in the minority... but I LOVED how DoW2 did it. Just one big base, all the action in the field where it belongs.

I'm okay with makin buildings... at least I don't have to faff about with 10,000 peons gathering crystal.

That's how CoH 1 does it. The points you hold are what give you the resources.

The people that are in aren't supposed to talk about it to the people who aren't.

At least not so publicly

Thanks for posting, was able to snag one. Looking forward to trying it out.

I posted it basically the minute I could when I got home. Evan Lahti linked it on twitter around 2ish and keys lasted over 5 hours after that.

I was hoping we'd get some more people from here in there.

Anyone else seeing this in Steam?

I don't have it preordered yet and have kinda been waiting to get a job before I do.

Yeah, the PCGamer post mentioned that pre-ordering would also get you in.

Is that only from steam though? I have this pre-ordered from GMG.

Edit: Found a post that GMG is looking into it. I'm doubtful but not going to change my pre-order over since I locked it in at $35.
