Transistor, from Super Giant Games the makers of Bastion

Pages

In Transistor, players assume the role of a young woman who gains control of a powerful weapon after a mysterious group of assailants nearly kills her with it. Now she must fight from street to street against forces that will stop at nothing to recover the weapon. During the course of the adventure, players will piece together the Transistor’s mysteries as they pursue its former owners.

We expect Transistor to be released in early 2014. We have not yet decided on which platform or platforms the game will be available for.

Just saw this and yup, I'm psyched. Loved Bastion to pieces and this looks and sounds beautiful. I'm curious if they'll do the whole narrator thing again (I doubt it), but they definitly showed they have the chops to make a great game and world.

Excellent. I'm super stoked for this.

I'll be back with comments after playing it this weekend at PAX!

Wow. Very exciting. They are very good at art and world building, so I'm excited to see what they create here.

I really hope there's not a huge line like 2011. I wanted to play Bastion really badly but the line was barely moving which put me off from trying it...

I'm very excited except for the fact that it's not coming out this year. I'm cool with that, though.

Good trailer, perhaps I shall have more of an opinion after I actually play Bastion (installed but unplayed).

I really like that the trailer suggests Super Giant has a specific voice and mood, and that they are embracing that again with their next game.

After Bastion, this is a guaranteed purchase for me.

I like the sort of Art Nouveau-meets-Cyberpunk art style they've got going on.

Supergiant Games is all I need to know. After Bastion, they'll have to screw up real bad for me to not want whatever they make on day one.

What if it required an always-on, Rogers internet connection for those in Canada?

That would definitely do it.

I realize I'm in the minority on this, but I really, really hope this one doesn't have a Narrator.

All over this. As you may be able to tell from my avatar. >_>

Not sure if there's a narrator, but I saw confirmation somewhere that Logan Cunningham is doing voicework.

I think it's really cool they're going with a female protagonist.

I love the possible multiple levels of meaning in "it is red's turn".

I know they mentioned that the voice actor will be involved. I think they would be wise to not go the narrator route with this one. It worked with Bastion very well, but doing that again would make it feel like a gimmick too much. I am glad that they are sticking with the isometric view and combat style, though.

I'm also glad that they didn't just do Bastion II. From what I can tell with the choices they've made, this game has the potential to be very good.

Agreed, although I wouldn't object to a "cyberpunk"* game like this narrated by Mike Pondsmith.

* Although I'm not sure I would classify this as "cyberpunk". It looks a lot closer to Mega Man Battle Network in terms of style. Definitely looks like a lot of time is spent in a virtual world.

Bet me to it; the Narrator worked once and very well.

The game design is very reminiscent of Bastion, which I loved and did not get enough of.
Day 1 purchase whenever it becomes available on anything besides XBox.

This looks awesome! I really like what the Supergiant crew are doing.

I want that song in the trailer and this game so badly.

They could go a similar route to the Narrator, the whole aesthetic of the game is just begging for a Noir-style voiceover from the main character.

It'd also twist the stereotype a bit, since the character looks like the typical 'woman who hires the private-eye' character, but this time she's the protagonist. She's even called Red (which, of course, I love!), which is such a Noir sounding name.

So much this. The game is probable gonna worth it for the music alone.

I'll bite, what's your avatar from?

You might need to reload. It's currently a capture of Red from the trailer.

Oh, this is intriguing: https://twitter.com/SupergiantGames/...

"It is an original song written for the game. The protagonist is a singer -- it's her song."

Definitely interested! I really enjoyed Bastion, and this looks very promising. Like Master0 said, the music alone makes me want to get it!

Looking forward to feedback from those lucky enough to get to play it at PAX!

Exactly what I was thinking.

This just makes me want the game and soundtrack more.

Ah, but I'm still curious about your previous avatar, Redhead? looking over a sci-fi? cityscape

Ahh! That was from the movie Agora. Not so sci-fi.
