Bastion Catch-all (now coming to iPad)

Just got a copy, thanks to Hyetal. He got an extra copy in the Humble Indie Bundle and kicked it over to me. What's crazy is I was thinking about buying it last night and didn't (because I was going to wait till the weekend or something). And BAM!!! There he is offering me a free version!

Another +1 goodjer moment!!!

Bought myself a copy of this, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, FEZ, and Wizorb for myself for my birthday. I started each of them to get a few easy achievements and try 'em out. Love every one so far.

Wizorb is just amazing.

Bastion is coming to the iPad on August 30th. $5.

I'm glad people who only have iPads will be able to play it, but I'd throw my iPad against a wall if I had to use a touchscreen to play Bastion. It was tough enough when you used a controller or K/M.

I just came over to post this after seeing on TouchArcade. I can't wait to give the game a try considering how much love it has gotten here.

Yeah, be sure to let us know how the control scheme works. I'm very curious.

If someone gets this with the OG iPad, let me know how it runs.

Kind of a thread necro, but I just completed Bastion on the iPad and it was an amazing game. The controls worked really well: I switched to virtual joystick mode and never had a problem.

I hope there more developers port XBLA/PSN games to the iPad like this, it seems like a really good match.

I suspect they turned the difficulty down for the iPad, it was never particularly difficult.

It's not really a challenging game, unless you enable some idols. After four or five, it'll quickly start ramping up.

Since apparently it's not due for another year +/-, I'll just throw this down right here.

[For those who can't watch youtube right now, that's the reveal trailer for Transistor, a new game by Supergiant Games]

After reading interviews and blog entries by the dev team post-Bastion, it seemed like they might do just about anything for their next game, with regards to the genre in particular. I'm kind of happy they're giving it another go (at least from the looks of things). It'll be interesting to see what they learned from Bastion. And it's cool that they're going for a female protagonist this time.

Also, Darren Korb is great as always.

Oooo, looking forward to checking that out later this week

Shut up and take my money!

Nice. I can't say I like the general visual design quite as much as Bastion, but the protagonist and enemy design looks interesting. I'm glad they're making another isometric action game.

Instantly at #1 priority for my show floor time.

Hm, to me it was immediately more appealing than Bastion (but only by a bit, as it barely seems possible to be more appealing). There's something about the way the color palette, composition, and design all harken to the style that defines SMT/Persona, while still being a bit Blade Runner too.

That trailer was exceptionally well put together and I loved, loved, loved Bastion as a cohesive work. Looks like I will continue the trend of giving more money to small devs this year.

Still have to pick up Anodyne and KR0.

I like the art style. It's familiar enough that it's 'theirs', but different enough that you can tell it's not Bastion. This is a different game.

Didn't see it was posted here, just made a thread about Transistor. It looks and sounds fantastic. Hell I just want it for that intro song alone.

The main character is reminding me of Cloud Strife (Final Fantasy 7)... I imagine it might be intentional, and I trust them to have a great reason for what they do. (Not just the sword, but the motorcycle.)

I'm late to the Bastion party. (Or at least, I'm planning on being next time I start a new game.) Should I go with PC controls or 360 pad?

I've played with both, and I'm indifferent. There's one challenge area that is a little easier with a gamepad, but it's also trivially easy with some upgrades, so it's something of a moot point. And I think there's one challenge area that's easier with a mouse, so it's a toss up as far as that goes.

I'd go with what you're generally the most comfortable using.

I found aiming ranged weapons to be much easier with the mouse.

Supergiant Games will be doing a stream of Bastion for its two year anniversary on Saturday, 10AM Pacific.

According to Kasavin, he, along with Amir Rao, will be providing "the weirdest, most interesting commentary we can think of." Should be fun!

Such a great idea!

Thanks to the awesome Steam Key sharers, I was able to start Bastion last night. Wow, I was blown away by the narration and art style of this world. One of my favorite things ever of RPG type games is the first moment where you think "when does the game start/intro end?" and realize, "Ah! I need to actually move my character NOW!"

There's an initial feeling of discovery in Bastion (even though so far, it's very linear), that really sucked me in right away! Looking forward to keeping on with this one.
