Left 4 Dead 2 Catch All

In VS the cans generally spawn in fixed places, but how many in each spot is variable. But I think in co-op, the locations are even more random.

You're right, there's probably a greater effect in co-op, but entire floors can be empty in Versus, as well.

Are you sure? Maybe it decides the location only once. We did the finale 15 times and they were all in the same spots with none on the third floor.

It only resets for fresh campaigns. Presumably so you can perfect a strategy and not spend an additional 15 times trying it.

Tamren and I are hitting another Expert campaign tonight. At least I think we are. He was raucously drunk when we made plans last night. Anywho, we'll be on and dying repeatedly if anyone wants to join.

What time?

I usually hop on around 7 or 730 pm Central time.

I'll probably by watching the Bruins game, but if it's a blowout or something I might make it online.

Central is 2 hours ahead of Pacific time right? I'll be around on steam just let me know when you want to start.

Each of the rifles has different plusses and minuses—I use all of them at various times. One thing I really like about carrying a variety in the group is that it makes it less likely that everybody will fall into a similar timing for reloading.

Anyway: I'd say AK is best for picked shots, single-fire, but sometimes gets into trouble with swarms as they close range. M4 is less good at high range, and generally requires a short burst rather than single-fire, but works better on the larger swarms. SCAR is worst at long range, but best against the swarms—it can really tear up incoming groups, especially if they're moving perpendicular to you.

Overall, though: All of these weapons are useful, as long as you're comfortable with how they work. I'm much more likely to choose a gun based on how I'm feeling or what other people are carrying than because of stopping power.

In the context of the Dead Centre finale it just wasn't working for the kind of combat I found myself in. A lot of the time the infected would run directly at me (which was just fine) but then would suddenly start running in serpentine curves to get around tables and stuff. Half the time I shot them with the m16 they would just fall over and get back up again. This was especially irritating when I was the one doing the running around and my hip fire was terrible, even with the laser sight. You need 3 hits to down a common and it's easy to miss that third shot even when firing in bursts of 3 and 5.

Maybe I'm just out of practice. I still catch myself trying to bring up iron sights sometimes...

In any case I'm always up for some coop. We have been playing through the expert maps and made it through Dead Centre and Dark Canival so far.

The M16 is pretty terrible up close. As you said, you need 3 torso shots to take down a common, so it's not the weapon to use when fighting off a mob unless you can point blank headshot like nobody's business.

Each weapon has its uses, but I think the best default approach is to have have both a good distance and short-range weapon. If you get something like the M16 or AK as your distance weapon, carry a cricket bat for up close. Personally, I prefer to carry one of the tier 2 shotguns with either dual pistols or the magnum as my distance option. Thing get easier in a good group though, since you can delegate tasks. At least in campaign mode, that is.

Thanks for the late night versus. I'm up for doing some more coop expert runs tommorow. So far we have done No Mercy, Crash Course and Death Toll as well as Dead Center and Dark Carnival. Next up is Dead Air and Swamp Fever. The Passing and The Crossing can fit in there somewhere, but we can do them last because they don't have an achievement tied to them I think.

I'm up for some coop, but I don't think I'll be able to use my mic as I'm getting over a cold that's left me with a terrible cough and I don't want to aggravate it any more than necessary. Though I'll gladly leave voice on so I can hear you guys tell me to go push all the buttons. Or if there's someone else who wants to play I can bow out for the weekend and play more minecraft instead. Either way I'll be on steam so you know where to find me.

just turn push to talk on.

I would but for a while there any talking at all tended to trigger minute long coughing fits. Though I seem to be feeling better today, so I probably will turn push to talk on.

I'll be on tonight.

3.5 hours. 4400 zombies killed. Swamp Fever Expert run complete!

I need a drink.

Whoa... mind blown...

Those are the first screenshots I've seen of RE6. It looks so... monochromatic. I've got to say that I'm most interested in the RE6 characters in L4D2 also. I hope Valve releases screenshots soon.

No kidding, that looks terrible.

Does this mean more Valve-made L4D2 maps? (he asks hopefully)

Ok, for some reason my game isn't registering these expert wins. It has to be Switch's server. Anyone want to hit the official dedicated server on Gib Fest mutation (everyone with infinite ammo M60s)?

Gib Fest is the easiest time to get all the maps on expert.

Or Last Man on Earth. I didn't even play campaign until that came out.

If I remember right, it's best to play expert Gib Fest solo since the bots don't do friendly fire damage.

True, but in Dead Center, they skip the phases and go straight to the crazy action of multiple tanks and special infected the moment you step outside the elevator. AND! The dumbass bots immediately drop their INFINITE AMMO M60s! To grab Uzis. I had 2 Uzis and a pump action shotgun with me for the finale.

Wow, it's been a while since I touched this. Great expert run on The Passing tonight with Switch, Donut, and Tamren. Thanks for inviting me!
