Fall 2012 & Spring/Summer 2013 TV Catch-all

I'll have to check it out.

Do it. It's actually a good episode to check out PoI, more so if it'll just be a single episode viewing. It covers the overall arc well and even gives a little insight into the show without overdoing it. It's a unique episode that places Shahi in this world in which the viewers rarely get an outside view from the day-to-day operations, and gives that character an inside look.

Oh, and it was directed by Jonah Nolan.

Yeah, I would ask that, if you watch Life, either skip or power through the "video game" episode. It is an insulting mark on an otherwise fantastic show.

Hacking into a console binary file not REAL enough for you? You don't know what these hacker kids are capable of, especially the Prince of Persia crowd. Those children are RUTHLESS.

Yeah, that episode is terrible.

"I'mma mime what you SHOULD be doing with the controller, old person!"

I love that John-Boy is in The Americans.

Caught up on Raising Hope. LOVED the My Name is Earl reunion!

Robot Combat League: bleh, I'll watch another episode, but it was horrid.
Zero Hour: Maybe, potential for greatness is there, just as long as it doesn't go to Lost town.
Golden Boy: Hmm so the writers already figure it won't last seven seasons.... I wonder how long they think it will (the beginning is set 7 years in the future from now)
The Following: Sigh... Hello Happy Town! I'm waiting for junior FBI guy to turn out to be the main follower.

Anyone else got thought on the new crop this year?

Haven't watched anything new yet.

Cougar Town has still been great on TBS.

I watched the pilot of Zero Hour, and I thought it was crazy bad.

Haven't watched Golden Boy yet, but I'll buy into most anything Chi McBride does. He may always play the same character, but I like that character.

I think we all know that the junior FBI guy will be a Follower, and I don't think the show is trying to hide it. He may also just be a red herring. But mostly, I like it because it works on a horror level. The Following is not high brow, but using Poe as a muse lets them pretend. I think it's just kind of fun, but people trying to take it more serious than it deserves will hate it to death. I don't think the show will make it to season two, but that might be totally fine.

The new season of Survivor: Fans vs. Favorites is fun and well done. They've done a nice job of not bringing back their bread and butter stars this time around. They have a few good crazies, but no one that seems like a lock to win. The Fans have some interesting characters, and some frat boy-like douche bags that I have been fun to watch not get their way.

I'm actually liking The Americans through two episodes. I just haven't had time to get back to more.

And if you have Netflix, I hope you are overdosing on House of Cards, easily the best new show this spring.

SNL absolutely killed it last night.

Justin Timberlake does it again.

Holy hell; tonight's Survivor was epic. That was intense!

What a f*cking psycho.

He thought life was bad after his first time on Survivor.

Spoiler:

It's probably the only time throwing a challenge, or forfeiting a challenge made sense.

No doubt.

Spoiler:

I really thought Brandon was going to try and switch sides, but he just wanted to air his thoughts. I'm very happy about that much.

On Rob C's podcast tonight, the idea of letting the survivors voluntarily switch sides before immunity challenges, with no restrictions, was brought up. I feel it's a fantastic idea, with very little negatives. If they want to leave because they don't like their position, the other Tribe still has immense power over them, and then they have to face the jury. There could even be a saboteur role, which also carries positives and negatives to all parties. And numbers balance, which maybe seen as a negative, also gets resolved by the vary nature of the game (social dynamics).

Splash: a reality show about C-list celebrities training on the high dive.

Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel. Is this the stupidest premise for a TV show or what?

Well, there is this:

Man, between this, Preacher's Daughter, and Amish Mafia I'm going to need another DVR.

Damn, my Survivor pick got screwed. Who the hell do I pick now? It's very uncertain. Beyond Bikal continuing to fail, I hope the season continues to pick up the intrigue.

It looks like Andrea, Malcolm, Reynold, Sherri, Dawn, and Cochran are the best bets. I wouldn't pick either men, despite their idols, and it's really hard this season to see a winner's edit.

Episode 6 of The Americans is crazy.

Modern Family finally back tonight. Hilarious as usual.

Most inappropriate laugh ever in the opening minute of the latest episode of New Girl. Couldn't help but laugh though.

Nick's mom is head of the Dixie Mafia!

I want to like The Americans a lot more than I actually do like it. I think I'm done with it

So. Hannibal.

Any good?

I`m fan of the books and.. I want to see more. Madds Mikkelsen as Hannibal is actually an inspired choice, Laurence Fishburne as Jack Crawford seems to work well and the Will Graham char is played in an interesting way as well.
They are differentiating themselves from the movies so that no direct comparisons would have to be made. But the tone seems to be right. It's sorta prequel to the events in the "Red Dragon", thus following the period in Lecter's life that's never showed in movies. No one knows Lecter for who he is yet.

And Mikkelsen is great as always, he has actuallly some of the mannerisms/tembral vibes of Hopkins yet nothing crude or obvious. Also, Red Dragon movie didnt really show why Lecter was interested in Will Graham and considers him as sort of a pet project. The very first episode of TV show actually allows us to make that connection and understand the motivation much better.

All that can be said for certain right now is that it is a damn sight better than The Following.

I second that motion. I appreciate the stylistic liberties they're taking with Will Graham and autism this time around, it allows for some pretty cool imagery.
