I Just Got a PS2, Recommend Me Games!

K, snagged a cheap copy of Armored Core 2, Zone of the Enders 2 is my next target.

Wait, you have a PS3 still? Get the Zone of the Enders HD Collection: http://www.amazon.com/Zone-Enders-HD...

But the originals are SOOOO much cheaper, and the initial reviews of the HD collection aren't too positive. :/

K, while waiting to not be pissed off at Armored Core 2, I played some Destroy all Humans. Fun and funny game, though I'm still not clicking with usage of the anal probe.

I also have cheap copies of Ring of Red and War of the Monsters on the way. Wheeeee!

Getting pissed at AC2 was my experience too, so don't feel bad. I gave up on that one when I realized how I'd need to develop OCD to figure out how to equip my mech optimally by just experimenting with all the obscure upgrades. I've heard that later games in the series do a better job of this, but AC2 was disappointing for me because the shooter aspect was fun. I ended up playing ZOE instead and it was a blast.

Yeah, it was really disheartening. Did you play any of the later ones?

No, unfortunately. I'd like to try I'd like to try something from AC4 onwards though.

Yeah, maybe that one uses the analog sticks. *grumble Female Doggo moan*

If the controls are your main issue then AC4 onward does use the analogs. The mission structure and customization never really changes much so if you're looking for improvements in those areas as well there isn't much progression there.

It is kind of funny though. I wish the AC games would go back to the archaic controls because there are some fighting mechanics that ended up changing when you use analogs rather than shoulder buttons to look up, down, and strafe.

So I'm getting a copy of Dynasty Warriors 3 at the request of my girlfriend's sister. Looks like a good time!

Got War of the Monsters the other day too, only played a little bit but WOW it's fun!

Finally got around to playing Dynasty Warriors 3, and whilst I had no clue what I was doing in that Mosuo mode or whatever it was called, it was FUN AS HELL.

As someone who played an insane amount of time in that game, it's great. Best with coop though, and try unlocking at least one super weapon, makes for a fun challenge. Don't for all the endings though, that's just impossible.

Yeah, realllllly looking forward to co-op.

Hey guys, questions for ya. First, what would y'all say is the best Dynasty Warriors game for the PS2? My girlfriend's sister thought the one she wanted to play was 3, but when we actually played it, she said the one she played had way more characters and maps, so any advice would be helpful.

Also, what are some of the best 4 player games for the console? I'm eying Timesplitters and the X-Men and Marvel Alliance games, but more suggestions would be awesome.

Thanks guys!

I had many hours of 4-player fun with Champions of Norrath, but I'm afraid it might not hold up well in a world that has already had its fill of Diablo 3.

These folks, and myself, have likely never played Diablo 3, so it should be fine.

Worms Armageddon.

Yeah, and I wouldn't say Diablo is the be-all-end-all of ARPGs, and it's a different kind of game anyway. I love the Dark Alliance games (though I haven't played Norrath), and don't particularly like the Diablo/Torchlight type of ARPGs.

Champions: Return to Arms is one of my top 3 favorite PS2 games. Despite certain buffs not working at all and auto-arrange inventory.

Thanks guys!

Ohhhhhh, that's the best Worms game too. Thanks!

So today I got Twisted Metal Black, can't wait to try it. I've also snagged copies of Champions of Norrath, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. Now I just need a multitap.

Ratchet and Clank series.

DONE.

FINITO.

I played the Timey one on the PS3 a little while back, been meaning to pick up the HD trilogy.

I enjoyed the Samurai Warriors series more than Dynasty myself. Same game type with classic Japanese setting instead of China. Also, what type of 4 player games? I really enjoyed the X-men Legends games.

So far I've gotten Champions of Norrath, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. I was eying the X-Men Legends game, seems the second one is the better of the two.

Depends on whether or not you like Apocalypse.

I forget who that is. More of a DC person.

Dynasty Warriors 4/5 are the best on the ps2. I played a godly amount of that game with a friend. Get the empire versions, I always liked those the most. You also reminded me of the kessen series for ps2. Basically a much more strategic version of dynasty warriors. Sorta of a real time strategy final fantasy tactics mixed with dynasty warriors. Fun game.

I also enjoyed the ridiculousness of Onimusha 3.
