What are you playing this weekend?

I thought you were supposed to get the plague at PAX, not before it.

See how considerate I am, getting this out of the way in advance of PAX? Now where's my Nyquil. I'm due for another swig.

I seem to be on the fringe of a potential plague, but I'm trying to beat it out with allergy medicine and Vitamin C.

Edit: Forgot about the 12 Hours of Sebring!

XCOM, and picking up our copy of Zpocalypse straight from the designer's hands.

I had sick kids yesterday and a sick day today. Some sort of stomach bug that makes you feel horrible for about 16 hours.

Finally about to finish Persona 4 Golden.

After this it's going to be a combination of whatever Vita/3DS games look neglected. Presumably:

Pokemon Black 2 (with dips into the Dream Radar.)

Strange Journey. Because someone has to keep the dream alive.

Been invited to go play some Magic but undecided if I want to go or not.

I'm playing Magic with some friends this weekend, some old hands and some noobs.

I've only played a few times myself (this will be the third if I go) and I am not really digging it that much. Not sure if it is the people or the game or mostly likely both. I have zero interest in owning cards and building my own deck. I have been borrowing different decks and the girl who invited me built me a Red & Black deck with some of her spares. The people are the win-at-all-cost kind of people I can't stand playing with though. I'm a very non-competitive type who just wants to have fun and if I have a blast losing I am fine with that, but most of these people seem to only want to win or troll when they know they can't win.

I started playing this today. I NEVER play new releases but I received a "free" copy with my new video card. The game looks great, I'm pushing it out to my 26" backlit VIZIO flatscreen via HDMI on ultra settings and I'm really impressed with the way it looks, the way the controls switch from keyboard to gamepad and the "Laura's a real person" storyline. I'm only an hour or so in and so far I'm having a good time. Hope you (and everyone else playing it) enjoy it as well.

Tim

Rykin - It sounds like maybe the group you're trying to play with isn't the best for new players. There are tons of people who play Magic who are more interested in hanging out and having a good time than winning at all costs.

There are also tons of different ways to play, some that lend themselves more to the newer or more casual player. My favorite ways to play don't involve trying to build a collection at all - there are a few game types where you just open up a few packs and build a deck out of whatever you find there. It's essentially how we started playing 20 years ago, and it's still one of the best.

If you have any interest in discussing further, come see me and the other GWJers in the Magic thread: http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/node/1...

I love the game. I am approaching 20 hours and I am getting close to the end. I have collected everything along the way, with the exception of one XP challenge in an earlier area. It really drew me in. I am going to finish it this weekend.

Its a board game I Kickstarted a little under a year ago.

Humans vs zombies, ala Zombicide or Last Night On Earth.

It's a co-op with individual scoring and PVP possibilities. Each round has multiple phases, where you place tiles and zombies, scavenge for items, fortify your base, and then deal with all the zombies to make it through the night. And each night, you draw a random modifier card to alter how the zombie AI plays. Each night gets harder and harder, with more zombies spawning with more powers, but at the same time each player's squad is getting more powerful from their experiences.

Aww, your reply is so earnest that I almost feel bad about being sarcastic.

Continuing with my Wurm Online addiction. Sprinkle in some BF3, Arma3, and World of Tanks. Also, some more time in World of warplanes.

Otherwise, a weekend at the folks farm helping with lambing since my mom has a screwed up knee.

Guinness and Star Conflict. But mostly Guinness.

Not much in a gaming mood lately for some reason, which may change after next week. But until then, been rereading Snow Crash and working on my next RamblePak episode.

It's funny, I usually could care less for achievements and "completing" a game but this one has me hunting all over for journal entries, salvage, and those wind chime things.

I think it's because it's a carefully constrained area. I know I don't have to cover enormous amounts of ground to find all the goodies. You cover the area and it's there or it's not. I do see a lot of backtracking going on and have had to do some already to open all salvage etc. I can see a zip line above that I can't do anything with right now.

Does the backtracking become excessive?

I'm putting Sassy Creed: Bro to bed this weekend. I've finished the main storyline and almost got my fill of the side content. Maybe the current Steam sale on Ubisoft things will offer a good deal on Sassy Creed Revelations. I've been playing the series two games behind and getting them on the cheap.

Might keep playing around with Sim City 4 as well. After many hours of playtime I think I'm starting to figure out how things work. I dug this game out after the new Sim City launched.

I finished Tomb Raider last night, so this morning my mind turned toward Far Cry 3. I go to load up Steam and it was like fate was smiling at me, because Far Cry 3 just went on sale. Thank you gaming god! And by gaming god, I mean Gabe Newell.

X-Com.

Finally got my hands on Titan Armour and Plasma weaponry.

So who's going to be making the whimpering noises now, Mr Chrysalid ?? How's about this shotgun thing up in your face...eh ? Eh ?

Given that GSP vs Díaz is finally taking place, Sunday will be the only day I might get some game time down.

Definitely some Dragon Age 2, possibly a bit of Blue Dragon (the playthrough I'm doing with my daughter, and if time allows, some System Shock 2.

Looks like it's going to be an action heavy weekend for me. Bayonetta and Vanquish are on tap, with maybe some Sleeping Dogs in between.

So far, an absolutely shameful amount of Faerie Solitaire (finished it in two days). Also some Last Window: The Secret of Cape West. Tomorrow, likely Castle Crashers, Brütal Legend, and/or Sword of Vermilion.

I dislike first person shooters, but have been playing the heck out of Ghost Recon Online. Troland on the North American Server.

I'm playing Attempt to Breathe, Drive to Dance Practice, Drive to Science Olympiad, March in the St. Patrick's Day Parade and Get Yelled At By Drunken Revelers, and Watch Old Stages of Paris-Nice. I think I will power through the end of Knights of Pen and Paper(iOS) while I'm holed up on the couch, though.

gravity: Congrats! Imho, they should spend less time on birthing info and more on what to do with the things once that's over! We did around 12 hours on birthing (longer than the birthing took!) and 3 hours on what to actually do with a baby. During the birth, you're surrounded by experts anyway.

Then again, I wasn't the one giving birth. I wonder what my wife's take on this would be.

Thanks Fedaykin! We did about 16 hours birthing class, and there should be another class for what to do with the baby at some point, but I'm guessing it'll be pretty long as well. I can only hope we spent more time in class than the labor will take.

As for what I played this weekend, the Darkstalkers Resurrection demo and a little X-Com were unfortunately all I had time for today. But that's ok because next weekend is PAX East!

Eating them seems to be common, but I've found a living football to be quite the entertaining option.

Well, I played GW2 this last week end.

That mmo pulled me back into the game.

Right there with you. Here we go again.

OK...I'm just about clear of Persona 4 Golden (just got the "true ending" boss to take out) so once that's out of the way I'll keep pressing forward in Etrian Odyssey (making good progress in that) and I've started a run through Legend of Grimrock : Master Quest. I should probably crack open this copy of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate at some point as well...
