Minecraft Multiplayer: GWJ World

Thanks, Orphu.

I should have asked this a while ago, but is there some place I can contribute to the server maintenance? Like a Paypal or something?

There really aren't any costs other than personal time at the moment. I'll let you know if that changes.

I forgot to mention that I archived the old world here for your downloading pleasure:

Man, I wonder what the ratio of water to pee is in that tub.

Anyone have a preferred launcher for switching between multiple minecrafts?

I've marked an area not far from the spawn village with a 50x50 dirt X, let me know if its too much space to claim so close to spawn and if there's a max height I shouldn't take it past. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but I'll worry about that when I'm no longer in a cold medicine induced haze.

Magiclauncher seems popular. But I just have separate folders for various versions of minecraft using minecraft portable. Which has the added benefit of using java in a folder so I don't have to have it installed as well.

I have used MagicLauncher for different mod sets, but not different MC versions yet. I love not having to mod the jar to have Optifine and forge an whatever other crazy stuff my son wants to try out this week.

I tried MultiMC, and it seemed great for someone who wants to run different versions of MC, but I didn't spend enough time to know if it would handle the auto injection of forge and optifine as wonderfully as MagicLauncher.

I found a nice little spot between the jungle and meadow biome with a lake next to it that I plan to develop a bit. I don't have it marked, but I mowed the lawn in front and put a door into the side of a steep hill to my cave dwelling. Once I get settled in, I think I will put up a nice little farm.

Starcraft 2 or MC? I'm leaning toward MC... I've been hankering for a bit of meaningful MC playtime.

What's he usual protocol for developing shared safe space at spawn? I'm probably not going to be ready to set up a permanent personal space, but don't mind helping start a safehouse at spawn for all to use as needed.

First a well-lit walled in area. Then a storage building. Then we figure out where to go from there.

Be warned, Quintin may offer to hold you in the dark to protect you from creepers but you just fall prey to the biggest creeper of them all.

As long as he doesn't explode...

I didn't want to but my mind went there, and it was not pretty.

So nice seeing so many people on!

Just checked the map. Whoever did that thing with the tree in the desert is awesome.

I wanted to build a rail station so I raided an abandoned mine and got some rail. Building it at the meadow/jungle transition. The first route is going past the back of the NPC village.

Exknos and I are scouting out a couple of locations over at the extreme hills biome. we'll mark up the spot we choose tomorrow.

If all goes well, Iron will not be an issue after Plav and I finish our next small project.... If all does not go well I apologize before hand for any fried hardware and it was definitely Plav's fault.
Our location is updated on the map with POI's and a few areas around them we cleared of trees.

That's QS, watching the desert to make sure no one takes any sand.

Do you think it might be possible to have a managed glass resource policy? I don't want folks strip mining the desert or beaches either, but there definitely is demand for glass as a building material.

Perhaps if someone decides to build in the desert and does some excavation for the build they can make glass available as a managed public resource.

You can take layers off a desert in a sensible fashion. But if there's a high enough demand for it I can try to get some on my way back from the Jungle Temple we live in.

The one good thing about large biomes is that the desert is huge, so there's no shortage of close-by sand. It doesn't make much extra effort to harvest sand while still leaving the landscape appearing natural.

Desert hippy!

True.

I was never going to do the whole strip mining thing anyway, but I figured I would let the resident decide the proper use of the resource rather than poaching.

There's now a thriving cow farm at spawn. Had to herd those jerks all the way from the swamps in the east.

The desert bald spots near one of the villages was a natural formation, I think.

Holy stank, that's a decent spawn. Nice, folks!

I love early-game Minecraft colonization projects.
