Hahahaha - I love Arma so much!

I'm really enjoying just playing with the editor right now. I've already put about 6 hours in. I think I'd feel like I got my money's worth even if they stopped development now -- the Alpha feels really solid. That more content, stability, and better performance are on the way just feels like icing on the cake and that there's such a strong modding community feels like another cake altogether. That's two cakes for $33. Sweet, delicious, where-did-that-bullet-come-from cake.

I think I peed myself I laughed so hard.

Editor, player as scba, spawn, shoot fish.

I get more enjoyment out of that than I should.

gifs that big always play like crap for me, so I went and found the video.

I'm a little ashamed to admit I've already got 17 hours put into the alpha so far. Most of that time has been spent in the editor in a 2 vs 3 (squads of three) battle where all squads are randomly placed in the biggest town at the start of the mission and the AI patrols randomly via UPSMON. It can be surprisingly tense. I've got a similar scenario set up in the nearby airstrip.

I think (as I said earlier) my biggest beef is still with the AI, especially when your own guys get stuck inside buildings and then stop complying with any orders you give them. The laser precision of your enemies at distance can also be tiresome.

Honestly, though, I can't believe how solid this alpha is. Most of the bugs I've seen have been pretty minor.

Anyone else playing around with the Alpha?

I've been playing a mission by someone at Simhq, called Silence Stratis or something like that. You blow up a communications tower and then steal a chopper. Lots of fun, it's a 4 player MP mission.

Played the showcases last night.
And I'm back in. When are we GWJ ARMA broing this up?

Didn't end up playing at all last night. Hopefully we'll have some time to run a couple missions at some point this week.

El-Producto, where do you get that scenario? I've just downloaded the Whole Lotta Stratis SP Scenario, going to give it a try tonight or tomorrow.

That's the direct d/l link. If you can't get it, let me know and I can probably email or dropbox it to you.

It looks like the three alpha lite invites were given out to those who bought it. If anyone wants an invite, find me on Steam and I'll send it your way.

Oh, and that RPS video? Too funny. You can almost hear the guy watching it going "Whoah.. did that just.. wait.. WTF?!"

I'd be interested. I've sent a steam friend request your way.

So what does the Alpha lite not have that the alpha does? I'm still kinda on the fence about this one, and if I need another open-ended game..

I've given one to a nongwjer, but have 2 left.

The lighting is amazing.. I was playing a night mission last night, and could see the enemy with a chemlite from probably 1km away. Really spooky!

How were these given to you? I bought the Alpha, but I'm not seeing anything about my Alpha Lite Invites to give out.

You can't do multiplayer and the editor is limited. So you'll get the 4 "showcase" scenarios that are currently in the Alpha, but if you wanted to do any thing else, you would probably have to download the scenarios from somewhere (like Armaholics).

I'd like to try it if any more are floating around. I keep thinking about hitting the buy button, but have no experience with ARMA so haven't pulled the trigger.

Steam notified me this morning, three were put in my inventory. I guess they are staggering the gifts as they go along today?

Sent you the next invite, I have one left now.

I have zero Arma experience too, but my son is really into it so I figured I'd give it a shot. After watching a few of the dev videos, it looked pretty awesome, so the $32 was a steal in my opinion. Hope the learning curve isn't too bad!

Thanks. If I play around and think it's something I'll get into, I'll pass mine along. I'm going to be traveling a lot over the next couple of weeks, though, so it might be a bit.

I'm interested if still available.

BTW, that video of the mortar was hysterical!

Make sure to check this out. Arma 3 Alpha Field Manual (Right-Click Save As). You can also access it in game. But it definitely helps with giving you a better idea of what you can actually do in game.

Does anyone else need a key? I have 1 left that I'm going to hand out to some random pub unless a GWJer wants it.

Edit: And it's gone.

I have three keys.

I have 2 keys left. Give me a shout if you'd like one - PM, please.

Played some more of the Wasteland MP mod. I had an absolute blast. Got a couple 700+ meter kills. Man, do those feel great. If you haven't played it yet, I highly recommend it. It's very similar to DayZ, but you don't have to scavenge as much for gear and in addition to not having to deal with zombies, the game places random objectives that draw people together.

Is this a mod for Arma 3, tkyl?
