GWJ-ATX 2013: Third Monday Movies

Well if it's just *Legion* and I, I'm going to call an audible and stay north. The only one I've seen express interest is Sinkwater, and that was a "maybe", so I hope this doesn't mess him up.

Edit: To be fair, Bonus did ask about getting a tattoo by today so I guess that's expressing interest. Fortunately, I was able to get a hold of both him and Sinkwater to make sure that changing the venue wouldn't mess them up.

For those who have an interest, I've picked Saturday, 5/4 as the tentative date for the GWJ-ATX spring picnic. Input is welcome.

In consolation for the loss of his favorite receiver, Boogle will be selecting the movie and venue for this month.

If it's on Sunday I can't go

There's a Monday showing, at Slaughter Lane.

That's much better...

OK, so, since this is Drafthouse, we have to figure out the whole reserved seating thing.

Should we just have one person buy a block, then reimburse them at the theatre?

I got row 74 seats 7, 6 for me and Grump. Go off that.

OK. I picked up seat 5 in that row.

Seat 4 in row 74 purchased

Last year at Cat Hollow Park seemed to work pretty well. People brought folding chairs and I brought a table or two. We threw some food on the (public, charcoal) grill, drank beverages, and generally hung out. This year, in keeping with the spirit of Cinco de Mayo weekend, I'll probably pre-make some carnitas (I think it was drumsticks last year) as well as bring some burgers and/or hot dogs for the kids. Perhaps someone can even take some initiate and come with an activity or two in mind (or not).

Of course, if folks have a different preference or suggestions, I'm all ears.

That was pretty fun. Was cool to see the Slaughter Lane Drafthouse.

The demotion of chicken strips to the kid's menu, and the removal of barbecue sauce, however, is aggression that will not stand.

The menu has been gutted. I want my up in smoke pizza back.

Yeah, the comments here pretty much cover it: http://drafthouse.com/blog/entry/int...

Next month is on 4/15 and MyBrainHz has already been tapped to pick the movie and venue.

Edit: Also, a little less than 3 weeks after that is the 2nd annual spring picnic.

Alright Brian what's it gonna be?

For any, like me, who might be wondering what's the plan, I texted MyBrainHz earlier and he said he's been busy and will be posting sometime this weekend.

Olympus Has Fallen, 6:30 at the Lake Creek Drafthouse? Will that work for y'all?

Yes, that works for me. I haven't been feeling great this past week (no illness, just allergies consuming my soul) so having a nice short drive instead of going way into town would be a big "win" for me this time around.

I'm in. Did someone by a reserved seat yet that I should buy next to?

I have not. Brain?

I just grabbed Row 44, seat 9. Looks like we may get our own private showing tonight, haha

OK, I grabbed seat 10.

Now, Grump must show us which of the two he likes best - does he grab seat 8, or seat 11?

There are 19 seats in the row, which makes 10 officially in the middle, leaving the second-best choice as a tie between 9 and 11. Easy decision.
