Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm Catch-All: It is here!

Despite all my naysaying, I picked this up and have been messing with new units. Holy sh*t are void rays op. Time to mess with that before the inevitable patch. If anyone wants to do some AI stomps or something for practice today that'd be swell.

Just got my copy from Amazon today! I'll be playing, feel free to hit me up for vs or comp stomp. I'm literally the best player. Literally.

My CE just arrived, and a word of warning that should be obvious by now: The artbook contains spoilers! View at your own risk.

I'm looking forward to getting into this, the Wings of Liberty campaign was a huge surprise hit for me and I'm really interested to see where things go in this chapter, and how it sets up for Legacy of the Void.

Damn I've got a jonesin for an rts, and I just missed SC2 WOL for $20

I'm actually taking a little break for probably about an hour, but if anybody's going to be on a bit later and wants to run some vs AI Matchmaking or something, I'd be interested.

Still waiting for my copy from amazon, however global play is now working so friend me up for cross-atlantic lag-filled silver-level fun!: Concave.192

Hmmm. Popped the disc in the drive and no installation autoprompt. I assume this is just a glitch and I'm not screwing something up by installing the game over WoL 2.0.5.

EDIT: Nothing was ruined! Hurray!

Not just the artbook / DVD, but also the available character portraits!

Spoiler:

Stukov is back?! What?

I am up for some games vs the ai before I get back into vs people. Been a long time since I last played.

I've invited some people to the GWJ group a couple of times and everybody seems to be ignoring it. I guess about half of GWJ doesn't want to play with the rest of us

Well, I played my placement matches and I'm in Bronze. No surprise there. But I made it up to #1 then I lost a couple of games and fell back. My goal is to make it to Silver before the end of the season.

The matchmaking is pretty tough, I think because the early adopters have a high skill level (except me). I say this because my placement matches were against a Gold, Plat, Diamond, Masters, and finally, a bronze. Also, my first game in Bronze league was against a high Gold. Anyway, I had fun nonetheless. I'm really learning a lot each game.

Hopefully I'll hook up with some of you guys tomorrow night. And, certainly, for our regular Thursday night games.

Come play people. You know you want to.

Hrm...My SC2 client keeps crashing to desktop. I'm not liking this

Oh man, the campaign units are so much fun.

I now have zerglings that move like reapers, and roaches that make more roaches when things die.

Very happy with my CE from Amazon today. Going to gorge on the campaign for a bit before diving into multiplayer, but I'm looking forward to getting there.

Gunner.133 on Battle.net.

In the world's least surprising news my internet connection is flaking out on me and I can't even start installation. So much for my planned day of geeking out. So aggravated.

If you downloaded the 6 gig patch from a couple of weeks ago, you should just need to put in your key on the battle.net website, then login to the game.

Nope, haven't patched in about a year. No way I'm going to be burning through that amount of data for a game either, even if the internet was working.

The on disc client better be reasonably current.

Those are the choices I made too! The roaches in particular felt OP for most of the game. They were awesome.

Now internet connection is working fine and game still won't install. What a load of sh*t.

So they're adding a real money auction house to this game too? I just saw a blurb that trumpeted the Starcraft Marketplace.

That was always the plan, specifically for selling custom maps, including user made ones.

Here's a Joystiq article from '11 talking about it.
And another from later that year quoting Blizzard about it.
And then an RPS article from '12 about it as well.

Oh how quickly people forget...

You can't forget something you never knew in the first place.

Playing the campaign through on Brutal, then I'll be around for some MP until I leave for vacation for a week.

The plan has always been to sell user created maps through the game, like the TF2 store.

They're just really really slow to get it into the game.

Actually, while I'm expecting Blizzard All-Stars to be shown at PAX East, I'm wondering if they're announcing a public Beta of the marketplace instead.

Rule of thumb for Blizzard and Valve: always expect nothing.

Because most of the time, that's exactly what you're going to get.

Then they'll do a gigantic release which makes you forget about all the nothing.

Just finished the campaign as well. Brutal difficulty was anything but. It's much, much easer than WoL.

Fair enough. I get a bit salty when the RMAH gets brought up (because I completely disagree with the commonly accepted belief that Blizzard is trying to screw it's customers), so I made an assumption.

Was it about the same lengths as WoL?

It's a bit shorter, but not as much as I thought it would be. Length is extended by things like the evolution missions, which Blizzard doesn't count as real missions in interviews, but they take as much time as a shorter mission might and there's several throughout.

It's definitely a bit shorter, but IMO it's just a better campaign.
