ZERO DAY (formerly Survival and Apocalypse Catch-All)

Useful thread indeed but I wonder why DayZ isnt on the list. Now Im at it, State of Decay(open world zombie apocalypse survival) and WarZ(Basically DayZ but more accessible).

And, cause what the hell, MineZ, too. Which is, you guessed it, a DayZ mod for minecraft.

Both DayZ and WarZ are on the coming soon list. If you really want to see them get the full treatment in the OP, it might help to make a post with it already there so Strangeblades can just copy that into the OP. Otherwise we just have to wait until he has the time to do put it together himself. Personally I'm fine with WarZ never even being linked to after how they handled their Steam fiasco.

I promise to consider a future promise I might make about updating this thread.

Are you interested in iOS games as well? Because I finally loaded Blockheads, which is a sort of survival-oriented Terraria sort of game. No NPCs that I've found yet, but I'm too busy starving and sitting around exposed to the elements in the dark to do much looking...

I'm trying to stay away from spoilers for this one, at least for a while longer.

Yup. Suggest away!

Guess what? I'm not full of sh*t as I thought I was. IMAGE(http://i.imgur.com/QaMJ89j.gif)

Also, check out the front page as I've added some new to-do items and brand new art to the top. This plug brought to you by a soulless shill.

Keep the suggestions coming folks - it just has to be a video game or video game experience. It doesn't matter the platform. I went through the pages and found all your suggestions. Let me know if I missed any. If you want a game on the list you can PM me or let me know here. I might argue.

The only post apocalyptic game I have installed is Fallout 3 GOTY PC version. My five year old computer runs this very well but would be very basic for newer genre games.

With soooo many extra expansive mods made for this game, though....it keeps capturing my interest.

The best thing about this list? Many of the above titles can easily run on your five-year-old machine. And they tend to be priced lower than AAA games.

EDIT: Oh, and welcome to the thread. IMAGE(http://i.imgur.com/N91eBvX.gif)

Why I like this genre(s) of games: When everything is stripped away and all creature and modern comforts have been disintegrated does life become simpler. Things you have taken for granted become meaningful.

++

Free codes for The Walking Dead: Assault (iOS) if anyone's interested.

Thanks for the update Strangeblades! I noticed some post-apocalyptic omissions in the list though, some older games you can still buy and play:

Fallout - FO3 is on the list, why not the first two?
Fallout 2 - ditto
Fallout: New Vegas
Wasteland - The grand-daddy of'em all.

Fallouts 1&2 are available on GoG, all the Fallouts are on Steam as well.

Oh, they are on the list. The To-Do List below the clickable one.

Many pardons. I thought "Da Future" meant games that were coming out in the future, not future work you have set for yourself, and so, being a good Internet-type person, skimmed in shameful fashion.

The OP has so many pictures, but not one of Strangeblades, weird...just weird.

Yes, you are a good internet person. And yes those games are coming out in the future because I'm jotting them down when in the past.

I visited the URW site and it told me the site moved here . Other than that I discovered another change. The game turned into a freeware from version 3.16 on( I have had lifetime membership for more than 10 years). The author said this in the announcement link(+FAQ)

Sami wrote:

In the near future we'll start a period of free, donation-based UnReal World releases. This will be launched in february 2013, starting with version 3.16. In the past the game has been available as a shareware with an ultimate licensing option of lifetime membership which grants access to all the future releases and upcoming additional benefits with a single payment. That is not going to disappear, ever, and will be available also for the future donors. Anyhow, going for free of charge donation-based releases is a thrilling and puzzling change which may arise some questions. I'll try to cover some of them below and will happily answer the rest either by e-mail or in associated forum thread. The following FAQ will be updated according to your questions and feedback. Contact/thread information can be found at the last question.

If you like survival based and don't mind the rogue like graphics you may have fun in URW. I warn you that all deaths are final and if you can run this game on a Ram drive it would be a good idea . I think the easy start is in spring - if you start in winter you can die from exposure and have major trouble finding food.

I've updated Unreal World with the new link. Further updates are coming. Thanks for the heads up.

Muahahaaha! I waited long enough on URW that I now get it for free! Muahahahahaaha!

"Your plan succeeded master. Ehe he he hee he he."

I've updated the OP's main art picture as well as two games - A Valley Without Wind 1 and A Valley Without Wind 2. More updates to come.

OK, I've updated a bunch of stuff, such as font sizes and Armageddon Empires. That's all for today folks.

Did you mean to update the link, by making it the address of this thread?

Uh oh.

EDIT: Oh. Right. Guess I should make that clearer. The links up top take you to the entry below. Clicking the BIG ASS headline will then take you to the proper site.

Version 1.1 of Wayward was released the other day.

http://www.unlok.ca/wayward/wayward-...

Here are some of the highlights:

Resource gathering has been overhauled to match this specification (mostly).
Preliminary modding support.
Caves have been overhauled to stop all those errors, cave-ins, and generally how crappy they were. You can now even dig into caves from above!
Non-unique items will now stack in your inventory.
New HUD/user interface and hinting/help system. This will be improved over time – it’s still fairly early.
Skills now describe their effects via tool-tip.
Containers now have a drag/drop interface.
Items on the ground now pick-up from reverse (or newest) order.
New Anatomy skill and bleeding system.

Ooo. Nice. I'll be adding Wayward to the original post's (OP) active list tonight. Thanks for the info pizzaddict.

I'm also making a backup of all my work. Just in case the coming Apocalypse is extremely localized to Gamers With Jobs.

Wayward has been added to the freshy list. And I've posted some new art up top - I've decided to attribute the stuff and link to the deviant art page where I found it. Other art will also be scoured for.

I hope you're including some of your own DNA, in case we need to rebuild you after the apocalypse.
