Torment: Tides of Numenera Catch-All

I loved the original, it's actually the only Infinity Engine game I've ever finished. I'd like for this to be as good but to be honest I don't think I'd have the patience to play Planescape: Torment again.

PST turned up in the steam CDR on Saturday.

Looks like Atari/Hasbro has a new compilation coming out: http://cdr.thebronasium.com/sub/13848

Planescape:Torment is one of my favorite games ever. I am far less rabid than most, though. Honestly, I'd be perfectly fine if, for example, they used the Mass Effect universe as backdrop. (That'd be a really interesting question to ask in the post-ME3 universe, too. With so many dead, why do *I* matter?)

The Planescape setting is damned cool, but most of it's use in P:T was that it was fleshed out enough for all the awesome questions and characters they wrote.

I care not for whatever trappings the game has, I just care that it has the same kind of spark P:T did. Now, I have my doubts, but anything's possible.

Yeah, but that can mean a lot of different things. It could mean Avellone will personally sign off on every plot element or it could mean he gave a, "What? Oh, sure, whatever," and is more concerned with his own stuff.

The latter is what the article said:

All this thinking about a sequel led McComb to reach out to Torment lead designer Chris Avellone, and the pair discussed how a sequel would be possible without the interference of rights-holder Wizards of the Coast. "We both agreed that Planescape was not the best route for us to take anyway, due to the mechanical issues and editorial oversight WotC would want," McComb told Eurogamer. In other words, the new title will be a Torment game, but without the Planescape setting controlled by WotC. McComb said he then asked for and received Avellone's explicit blessing to work on the Torment sequel he has been envisioning, while Avellone continues to focus on the highly anticipated Project Eternity.

Looks like among other things, the Kickstarter is set to go live on Wednesday.

Kickstarter's live. I'm in for $20; can't really see spending $15 for the bump for the soundtrack right now.

In!

Looks like they're going to easily blow past their funding goal. Only a few hours in and they're already at $675k/$900k. I'm not the least bit surprised.

$35 pledged! I'm so happy to see how fast their total is climbing.

$700k in about 5 hours. Amazing.

Usually I plunk down the pre-order amount in the few kickstarters I have participated in.

But I kickstarted the bejeebus out of this. I went for the 110$ tier. COME TO DADDY!

Linux version, eh? Now that really has me hovering over the "Back this project" button...

This is the first project I pledge for and I'm very excited for it, especially since I finished a re-play of PS:T 2 nights ago. If they can raise a lot more money, I hope they can get Avellone into the development team.

700k? That is soooo 2 hours ago... It's at 830k and still going up : O

I thought the Planescape game was kind of niche but it rocks to see it has so many fans

16,000 to be exact...

I kicked in for $125... Hopefully they can deliver these two projects on time or near it..

They made it :-O

Edit: parallaxhausered!

Woohoo! We did it!

So cool, I was about to pledge, then saw the game go over it's $900K goal while I was picking a tier. Pledged a solid $20, knowing it's already met its goal.

Wish we could get a true update on The Nameless One, but The Forgotten One sounds like he (she?) has a gerat story to tell as well.

I didn't even know this was being planned, just found out today on the other thread. And now it's funded. I'm genuinely happy about this and hopeful for the game to come out eventually

It might be a lot of nostalgia, but screw it, I'm very optimistic about it !

Mex, I thought you only played TF2.

The status of The Nameless One depends on the status of the Blood Wars. Last we knew he had accepted the fate he first became immortal to escape and was damned to fight in them for the devils.

Well I didn't know they were still making other games

Or he opened up a Burger King in New Jersey. Alternate ending, still in Hell.
