Heh, I think you meant this for the TF2 thread.

no interest I guess?

In your server? I thought about it, but I already don't finish what I start on the GWJ server. You don't need me littering yours with half-finished projects.

Eh, I already have a multi server that I regularly visit. (this one) I don't need two.

That was up for like 45 seconds!

I'm fast. u_u

That's... what... she... said...?

I did some final touch-ups to the Chapel of St Chucken the Unexpected on Cordelia before we move to another new world. I wrote the first chapter of the writ. If anyone wants to contribute more books (or even just text) to the chest, just let me know.

How hard would it be to get a download of the bukkit world folders for the current GWJ server once we start a new one?
Or is that just not done?

I parked my dude at the rail station by spawn because I was going to show my son all the cool stuff to see along the railway, but we haven't had any minecraft time since.

We haven't run Bukkit for a long time. Typically the world gets archived out and put up for download though.

I wonder why I thought it was bukkit. No matter. Glad there'll likely be a download of it.

Could I get on some whitelists? (Infernarl)

We were for a long time. It got to be problematic though as people would update MC as soon as updates were out and Bukkit would lag behind so it was always an issue of either losing Bukkit functionality or have users unable to connect. Once MC added built-in whitelisting we stopped running Bukkit. It's been a long time since I followed its development but I know it used to have a lot of great plugins.

Done!

Hi, been playing a bit of Minecraft SP and MP with a friend of mine and would really enjoy to get involved in the GWJ world. Could I get onto the whitelist? My username is Shymlark. Many thanks.

Pre-release expected this week, actual release next week:

So, sounds like large biomes might be the choice this time. I think we'll need a nice seed that has at least a few biomes at spawn.

Post your candidates.

'gwj' has Forest, Taiga, and Desert very close to spawn and Swamp close. Also pretty close to spawn is a crazy deep double ravine + cave system.

I didn't explore too much.

'1.5' gives you a Taiga, Desert, Forest area, with Extreme Hills a ways off.
Also, some extreme ravines near spawn.

I generated it in the w09 snapshot, not sure if they changed the world gen or not, but seemed best to be closest to release.

Larger

I looked around a bit as you can tell. There are plains, swamps, deserts, extreme hills, and forests around the spawn.

'awesomeseed'

Nominally a plains start, but surrounded by extreme hills, and nearby deserts, with some travel to swamp.

Right by the spawn is a laughably small pair of entrances to a ridiculous ravine-ravine-cave system.
Lots of absolutely amazing-looking terrain formations in the extreme hills areas.

Edit: I'm looking at all of mine with Large Biomes, based on the vote.

Biomes: Large

Nice gentle hills, livestock in the immediate area, and a conveniently close NPC village just to the south.

Edit: A bit of exploring reveals another village to the north, a swamp, and a forest to the east.

I've been leaving out things like temples and villages, because I just assumed we didn't have them in our servers.

Also, how are you guys making those cool map things? I'd have made one for 'awesomeseed' but I'm guessing you guys are doing it on the server and using the map plugin there?

Edit: Also, I generated a SP map (normal biomes I think) last night that had a village you can SEE from spawn with a guy that sells Eyes of Ender for emeralds. Tons of sheep nearby to trade wool for emeralds to another guy. Never used an Eye before, but my son seems to think they're really cool.

No, actually we do have them and they are very useful.

There's an app called Cartograph that can read your local maps and create an image:

The eye is needed for making ender chests, which are super useful, and to open the End Gate.

-1637920253178991026 I think is the seed for that SP with a villager selling eye of enders. I'll see if I can get Cartograph working and do 'awesomeseed' and the other one.

Maybe I should regen with Large Biomes to see if it's the same, as far as village nearness and what is for sale. It was also nice for SP, because the blacksmith had 3/4 of an iron armor suit.

Is there a way to make Cartograph call out the spawn point? I think it's going off of where I am saved as its center.

Not that I know. I'd recommend building a quick & dirty structure there to mark it. The center of the render image is going to just be the geographic center of the explored area.

That's a neat app!
Left of the village are some pumpkins, two hills over. I think that's where I spawned with Large Biomes.
The Ender Eye vendor does exist in LB, as does the Diamond Axe vendor.

Don't get too attached to villagers, ducki, they tend to get killed easily when the village is small, has no walls, and no iron golems.

In SP, when I find a village I tend to make fences/walls my top priority. Sometimes I'll even cheat with peaceful just long enough to corral them all.

Seed ruhkisyourgodnow is pretty nifty. *cough*

Spawn is in a narrow plains area bordered by a jungle to the east and a sea to the west, with a swamp emerging from the jungle to the north and a desert across the sea.
