Are we supposed to leave a perfectly good backpack there?
It had like pans and sh*t on it and a foam pad. Those things are hella comfortable.

Yup. Still felt bad for the fella.

Agreed. But if he was still on his own this far into the zombie apocalypse then there must be something wrong with him (i.e. he's crazypants).

Yep. With Rick the way he is, they don't exactly need another one. But I still felt bad for the guy.

I am READY for this season to get its momentum back. Too much "hurry up and wait" - the dramatic sequences don't do nearly enough to advance the plot or to flesh out the characters for me.

double post, move on.

I thought this episode did a lot to build momentum actually, while also having decent action and wonderful character development. I am happy the show isnt "bang bang bang" all the time. last week was rough though because Andrea is a weak point in the show overall and that made it worse than it should have been

Spoiler:

Cmon Lily, where aaaaaaarrrrreeeee you!!!!!

And I wonder what they're going to find when they get back to the prison? I was half expecting the last shot of the episode to be smoke on the horizon in the direction of the prison.

My guess is they will be in the prison the rest of this season and will end much like they did last season with the final episode having an encounter that forces them out of the prison (which I assume will be the fight with the governor).

How will this series end?

I mean, seriously, I love this show despite its many flaws, but really how could it possibly end? Rick and Carl stumble upon a legit fortified government survivors city and it all ends in roses and rainbows? Or does everyone die in a massive battle fight? I haven't read the graphic novels but I'm just so damned curious how this series will end.

I also feel similarly about The Walking Dead that I did about Battlestar Galactica -- we can only take so many seasons/years of running from camp-to-camp/planet-to-planet and being chased by walkers/Cylons before it just wears thin. I love The Walking Dead but I sure hope Season 4 is the last and wraps everything up.

Not to give anything away from the graphic novels but it is safe to say Kirkman has a multiyear head start on the TV show and it's still continuing. Given the challenge to keep TV series running regularly I think they will likely finish before they catch up to the novels.

I am interested in the path they will end up taking.

I loved the last episode by the way. While a slight change of pace, the quality of the writing and acting was outstanding and I think it helped get Rick a step closer to dealing with his new reality.

I had expected them to either find the backpacker dead and show remorse or stop and pick him up as part of Rick's redemption and return of humanity. Nope, just cold pragmatism.

That struck me as particularly cold - pragmatic but cold. I also wonder if the writers had both that scene and the one where Darryl saved the family on the bridge explicitly connected as contrasts or if that was just a coincidence.

Good point. I was hoping the backpacker would still be alive and that they would take him in. At Woodbury, it's either take them in and take advantage of them or just get rid of them, and with Rick's group it's just turn them away. I have a difficult time maintaining the earlier amount of sympathy I had for the main characters when I see how they treated the backpacker. Especially after seeing the more human sides of Michonne and Rick.

I'd like to see a lot more about the Governor. We already know his wife is dead and that his daughter turned. But that doesn't explain wanting to create Woodbury. What's his motivation?

You could chalk that up to pragmatism as well. He's living relatively comfortably. That sort of lifestyle and safety requires a community.

Yeah, I don't think comic-Rick would have just left him there, but TV-Rick is in a much different place mentally than comic-Rick was at that point in the story. I would have expected him to be reminded of how much of a chance Morgan took when he saved him and have a little compassion for the backpacker.

Power and control. The citizens relying on him and his men help legitimize his rule. I wouldn't be surprised if he's already got a plan to discredit and take out Andrea if she continues to challenge his authority with the townsfolk.

Given that it's the Walking Dead, if they have notice ahead of time that the series won't be renewed? Everyone dies.

I think any hope for a wrap up is going to lead to disappointment. This series is about the journey there really isn't an end in sight. So far, it is telling this story in relative real time. When the seasons pick-up, they have moved along the same number of months as we have in real life.

I don't think it is unreasonable to think that it might be 10 years before there is a semblance of civilization. So that path is going to be a lot of ugly stages of tribalism. So far, that's what we are seeing in various degrees depending on leadership and opportunity.

Maybe they get hit by a giant asteroid and fade to black...

And then fade into The Road.

They need to patch a rat in a cage on a skateboard into L4D.

Well now, that was the best episode of this show I've seen to date.

Spoiler:

The mat said, "Welcome"

I can't sleep on pans anymore, kills my back.

I thought the hiker was going to eventually catch up at the end of the show and be all, "Yeah, I got lots of guns bro."

Finally caught up with the last episode on DVR. Definitely great build-up and it felt very organic in the way they re-introduced Morgan. I was afraid he and his son would end up in the prison or with the Governor by sheer coincidence.

I'm a little torn about the whole insanity sub-plot that keeps creeping up. On one hand, it seems like too many characters are going crazy. From what I've seen in incredibly stressful real-life situations, it's surprising how resilient people can be. On the other hand, I guess actually more people should be going insane given the dead are walking the Earth.

Just watched "Clear".

Some of the best acting I've seen on television.

And someone said the author of that episode will be next season's showrunner?

Yes, please.

This.

This episode broke one rule and I loved them for it; shows should be about characters and storytelling, not about actor's air time and their contractual obligation to appear in every single episode.

I really liked how they handled Morgan; he could never appear ever again in the show and it would be OK; his story has been told. On the other hand, he could join the main cast and his volatility would add great chemistry to the group.

Have you guys seen the pictures for the collector's edition of season 3? This is going to look pretty sweet next to my zombie head from season 2. Its a mini version of the fish tanks of zombie heads.

Yeah, easily one of the best episodes of the series. I hope this is the future. It proved, to me at least, that the actor who plays Rick can act. Sometimes it's the words he's handed. Oh, also they've begun handling Michonne better. Letting her talk and not just scowl. I'm imagining the actress looking at the script and saying "so I need to scowl in this scene?"

Fits her comic persona perfectly though.

I'm so mad I didn't pick up the CE of Seasons 1 & 2. I wanted to surprise my wife and pick them up as we both love the show. All people want to do is sell them for outrageous amounts of money now If anyone knows where I can get them at a reasonable price then you get 10 bonus points!

Sorry I don't think you can get them for a decent price now, I bought the blu-ray collectors edition of season 2 from amazon for 74.99 and it is selling for alot more now, I bought the collectors edition of season 1 which came with a zombie mask designed by Nicotero from best buy for retail, I have not seen either of these since. I was able to get them both for Christmas for retail price, if I see them for cheap anytime I will let you know.
