Guild Wars 2 Guild organization thread.

I think this first run can be viewed as a bit of an expirment, and Tyops has already said that he would like to see these run at various days and times.

The other thing to remember, is that we can't progress to the other guild events without earning the new guild currency, so at least here at the start it benefits the guild to accomplish several of these.

Still, since the game does not have an in game calendar, perhaps we should start a new thread for guild mission scheduling.

Granted. Yet the actual time was still presented with less than a full day's notice, leaving me (and perhaps others) unable to participate. Gamers with Jobs (or families, or other responsibilities) often need more time to work out life schedules, and in general last I checked that was the type of gamer this site was about.

I'm not trying to raise a huge stink over one decision here, but I am trying to open up a constructive dialog over how to handle scheduling these events that provide our members with a valuable character upgrade path in the future.

I think we should definitely give more advanced notice or have a set schedule for some of the more involved or expensive guild missions, but bounties are cheap and quick to research, so if you miss one, there'll be plenty more to get. The special rewards are only given out once per week as well, so someone missing one bounty won't be behind everyone else so long as they do it before the week is up.

Yes, agreed. These are definitely cheap and quick to research, but we do need to have a good number of people online to complete them, even for a Tier 1. I think we had 25-30 folks participating earlier today, and kinda just barely squeaked it out.

Edit: Would it make sense to set up a Steam group to send out push notifications of upcoming guild missions? I'm happy to set that up if people think it would be helpful, but it seems like between GW2 itself and this thread, there's a pretty decent avenue for communications already... Or maybe I can set up a Google Calendar or something to track these. I'm trying to keep this as casual-friendly as possible, but don't want to shut anyone out just because of a missed communication. :/

Edit2: Bear in mind that we're just talking about the Bounty missions for now, but soon enough we'll be dealing with 5 different mission types to run each week, so having some form of materialized schedule is probably worthwhile.

I think keeping in this thread (or maybe it's own thread) with a google calendar would be good. I don't think a Steam group would be any more effective for scheduling without also being annoying.

Ah look like I'm late to the party here.

I'm sorry about a shot notice for the actual time. I tried to leave the floor open for people to discuss a time, but there was very few people discussed it. I just picked a time arbitrarily where I thought I could hit most of the east and west coast people. Worked well enough but obviously some people were left out. Heck, even though I was organizing the thing I missed out on the reward because I was missing a waypoint...

As others mentioned, they are fairly cheap and quick to research and I would love t o see them being run at different times during the week.

I am fairly certain that 2 parties of five could run a tier 2 bounty well enough once everyone gets used to it. You'll have to go one team per zone, fan out along the path find the bounty and engage. That would require 10 players who have all the way points in all the bounty-zones.

The other way to do it is with 3 teams of 5 and scout out every single NPC before it starts. That should also be enough.

While I'm totally new to the game, I saw the information as it was posted on GWJ first and then it was touched on in game multiple times. Sorry some folks missed it (I missed it by a few minutes just due to in game traveling challenges) but compared to my old WoW raid days this was pretty clearly an easy casual event for the guild so I'm expecting it will be easy to replicate in the future.

So for someone who was working and missed the whole thing, can I get a rundown on what the event(s) were like? Text popped up, all ran to place to see the mob? Went down like a regular champion or like a dragon with multiple stages? Anything tricky?

Anyone take screencaps?

Looks like thwe weekly timer for guild bounties is set with the saturday daily.

That means we can run another bounty today and get more merits for the guild. If people are interested we can aim for an evenibg time to try and include some of the people who missed yesterday.

I missed the actual fight so can comment on mechanics but basically the folks with high level characters went to as many zones as they could and tracked down the anticipated mob. When the bounty started two of those were given to us randomly. When the mob was found, folks tried to link the nearest waypoint so people could port over.

As far as text, all I remember seeing was something like "A bounty has started." in the chat. I had to rely on others to communicate on what maps the two bounties were.

I wish it came up on screen with that info and a timer, like they do for the daily achievements and events. I'm not sure if there was a way for me to check that and I missed it, or if the person starting the event is the only one that gets that info.

As I was in the area for the second bounty, I missed the fight for the first. Did people get rewards/guild tokens for doing that first fight? Or is it only after doing both that anyone got loot and other rewards?

I made it to both. I got rewards after downing the first one, but nothing for the second. From the sound of things in chat this was expected, one reward for the "event". You get an autochest like the daily or a map completion. I think I got a couple of rares, the guild event rewards, and 50 silver.

Not sure how it was we knew which two to down, as I never saw any text other than "A bounty has started" and "The bounty has been completed" or words to that effect. Yet prior to the event we seemed to have located several bounty candidates.

Fights seemed very straightforward, no stages like the dragons, that I recall, or novel mechanics. First one seemed easier than the second. The second guy hit like a truck, with some power blow that pretty much one-shotted me.

Hi everyone! I just picked up GW2 at last months Amazon sale and want to join the GWJ guild. I played a bunch of GW1 and am ready to get into GW2. Thanks in advance

You were actually killing yourself. The second targets nastiness was completely due to his ability to hand out full stacks of confusion in a blink of an eye.

Well while people figure out if and when want to try running a bounty today, those interested in bounties in general should try to make sure they have all the waypoints in the bounty zones.

For quick reference, here is the list of zones where bounties may appear.

Southsun Cove
Lornar’s pass
Harathi Hinterlands
Sparkfly Fens
Snowden Drifts
Frostgorge Sound
Brisban Wildlands
Mount Maelstrom
Kessex Hills
Iron Marshes
Fireheart Rise
Diessa Plateau
Gendarran Fields
Blazeridge Steppes
Fields of Ruin

If I'm around when it happens, I'd be up for it.

Also, a link to a page with all the paths of the bounties. http://dulfy.net/2013/02/27/gw2-guil...

When doing this yesterday, I had GW2 in windowed mode, fit to fill about 2/3 my screen. Had this website open in the other 1/3 of the screen. (Those of you with multiple monitors can feel free to act superior now.)

After the message about the bounty mission being started, the guild panel displays which targets we were given under Upgrades > Mission > Bounty. I didn't check to see if it had a countdown timer.

TBH I didnt check either, I was running around looking for our bounty.

Second one had AOE that did severe damage and caused 8 stacks of confusion. If you keep attacking with that much, it hurts! Once I avoided attacking and focused on reviving those around me, it was bit easier. Just keep an eye on your conditions and switch gears when confused.

Yeah traffic kept me from getting back in time for Saturday's event. I missed it by just a few minutes. That said; as a mom with an active kid; the only times I can assure that I'm free is after bedtime...which is just too late for the east coast folks, probably.

So, if we don't take part in the bounties, we fall behind, is that what I'm understanding from previous comments? So...we become less useful to the guild then, or what? Fall behind in what, is what I'm asking.

well you can "fall behind" from missing your 'one reward per week'... sort of like missing a daily and "falling behind" on your laurels.

I don't think missing guild missions now has any impact on future missions you can do

No, sorry that confusion was probably from my post. Your ability to participate in later guild missions is in no way affected by your level of participation. By completing guild missions, the guild earns an additional guilds currency along the lines of influence, both of which are required to research the next mission type. As it takes a week to research the next mission type, I was merely making the case that it would benefit us collectively to complete a couple of bounties quickly so that we world have enough currency to start researching the next type.

With that being said, as someone else who needs to schedule around a child, late evenings also work best for me. Anytime between 10:00 pm est and 1:00 am world work best for me.

I'm unsure how many bounties we can theoretically run in a week. Would it be best to develop a fixed schedule offering various days and times or should we try to schedule ” to order?”

We can run as many as we want, and as often as we want (well, it takes 200 influence & 12 hours to research one, so we are constrained by that), but the guild and the players only get the rewards once a week. If I read it right, the guild will get credit for each tier that's run, but only the first time that tier is run per week. 15 merits for a tier 1, 20 for a tier 2, and 25 for a tier 3, for a total of 60 merits a week. Players only get the reward once for any tier per week.
I think we should definitely run multiple bounties throughout the week for people that haven't been able to participate in earlier ones. They're cheap and quick to research, so we should be able to run spontaneous ones as well as scheduled ones. For times when there's a smaller group, it'd work best if a couple of people who've already gotten their weekly reward search for the second target while people that haven't take down the first target.

I think it tells the person initiating the bounty and also there is a new tab that had the info but that tab is nested down two tiers in one of the existing tabs, maybe the guild tab?

It does tell you who you're looking for, but not until you start it. I'm pretty sure the game doesn't tell you which zone they're in though, we had to use the guide to see which map they're on. It's incredibly useful to scout out the targets with larger paths beforehand. Tier 3 is 6 targets, tier 2 is 3, and tier 1 is only 2, so smaller groups should stick to tier 1 if they want to complete the mission. If they're just getting the weekly reward for players (and the guild has already done a tier 3 for the week), it'd probably be better for smaller groups to do a tier 3. They cost the same in terms of influence and research time, and you've got a much better chance of one of the targets you've scouted being one of the 6 you're assigned.

Guild > Upgrades > Missions

At this point we have 3 Tier 1, and 2 Tier 2 bounties research so spontaneous groups who want to try their hand at tier 1 are welcome. The guild gets merits equal to the highest tier completed, so completing Tier 1 puts us at 15, completing a Tier 2 bounty after that would put us at 20, not 35.

We ran our bounty during the day last time so the next time we should schedule one could be later in the evening. I'm going to go ahead and suggest that we attempt a Tier 2 bounty on Wednesday March 6th at 22h00 EST. I"m thinking that would be a good window to get some West/Central/East participation, but if anyone would like to suggest another time that's fine.

Ideally we should get organized ahead of time.

There are 15 bounties in 15 zones. Ideally it would be best to have a minimum of 15 people involved (more people would be great). That's 3x teams of five. To minimize the cross-talk during the setup it would be practical to have 1 team leader on each team and have these people can then use chat/whispers/vent to coordinate. Each team would be responsible for a pre-scout on 5-ish areas (some arent really necessary to pre-scout).

Alternately we could pop the bounty and see who we have to find, each team would then be responsible for swarming a zone and finding the NPC. For most zones, if people have the waypoints and characters able to getting a bit of a run-speed boost that should be very reasonable.

To be honest if we aren't trying a Tier 3 bounty (6 hunts) I don't think pre-scouting is entirely necessary. In fact, doing the bounties without pre-scouting seems far far less tedious and entirely more fun especially since the cost of failing is essentially negligible at this point.

I suggest that those interested in bounties take the time to explore the maps where the hunts take place to get the necessary waypoints. Some of the bounties are in high level areas so bring your L80 if you can, if you don't have one don't worry, there's a good chance we will get a bounty in a lower level area and you will be able to help out.

Does Wednesday work? Who would/could lead a team?

The one day of the week I have to work late.

It seems the one bad thing about living on the west coast (the best coast) is that by the time I have a chance to sit down and play, most of the rest of the guild is finishing up for the night.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll get to participate eventually. Don't wait up.

Yesterday's impromptu hunt was good practice. I'm curious to see how we'll perform tonight with 3 targets.

I'm not sure if I can show up early but I should be there for 10est

its all too late for me, I get up for work at 330am..lol I expect there will be very few of these I partake in unless for some reason we run them in the middle of the day when noones on for some reason.
