What's the best/easiest way to get signed up for the next round of Ascension games?

GWJ: SamF7
Challonge: SamF7
GC: SamF7
(How's that for easy)?

Sam.......wait for it.......F7

I thought I had our third game in the bag, but Torq snug by with two points more than me! *SHAKES FIST*

I lost both of the matches to Wolverine.

TheWalt just took our first game by two points after a last turn 5PointSwing Asp. I am not amused.

That 5PointSwing Asp is nasty, isn't it? Only 3 military for a 5-point card -- and it (generally speaking) only works if you're not the one going for a military strategy!

I say kill it as soon as it hits the board no matter if you're ahead or not.

Natus just won our third game 68-65. Three very tight games. Well played and good luck in the next round.

I employed military 'gambles' (not clever enough to call it a real strategy) and they paid off in both games against sirjoekcb.

Really heavy monster game in the first, so much so I had 47 honor by the twelfth (and final) round. Second game, not so monster heavy, but there was enough to make a difference, and I kept the high cards away from you.

Final scores:
Game 1: 62 - 46
Game 2: 77 - 64

It's also true, Oziah has no peers

Stupid double post...

It's probably the most unbalanced card in the whole game, but boy does it feel good when you pull it off!

Good game btw! This one felt really close, could have gone the other way if you'd had more luck with constructs coming up.
Talking about our game, another card I love today: Nairi, Henge Queen. Cost 6, is worth 3, and gives 5 every time you play her. What's not to like?! Got 18 (or maybe even 23, a little unsure) of my 76 points from her!

Over in the quartertothree ascension league Nairi is usually referred to as the FHQ, and I think everyone can figure out what the F is for :p

Definitely one of those cards that you want to banish ASAP if you can't buy it.

Hard-fought matches! The last we played live again and I took a Mystic when I could have dumped three points into my Snake Shaman. This time, however, my poor play didn't bite me in the butt. Great games!

You must be my final-round nemesis, since that's the second time in a row that you've beaten me in the last round of the tournament. I'm glad that there was a bit of a break after that first game because it definitely put me on tilt at the end there. Good games!

I just won a close decider game to take my match 2-1 against Apollo0507. The weirdness of playing all the decks meant I was playing a military Mechana build for the last game. Good games!

They were fun! I forget how in CotG that Mechana is so strong and it is basically a race to see who can accumulate the most Mechana constructs. I think my favorite has to be the RotF/SoS matches, those two decks seem to play nicely with each other.

Best of luck to you going forward into the tournament rounds!

That was annoying with the constructs drying up after getting a few Ultimately your economy engine was moving a lot smoother than mine. Good job!

I don't have the final scores on me, but il dottore won both games. I updated the challonge last night.

Looks like we have two matches left in the qualification stage. The top 12 will make a single eliminations playoff. I will invite those 12 to a new chollange tourney and we'll begin!

Is their going to be a losers bracket also?

Speaking as a loser, I would welcome this.

I'm a loser baby....

We could always make our own bracket if bigred won't!

Was able to steal game 2 87-68 with the help of Avatar of Aiyana and Cetru, Weaver of Stars. I'm still not sure how much of this game is skill and how much is luck, but I do like being lucky more than unlucky!

Considering I want to play more and am also a loser, I approve. I'll set up a consolation playoffs for us non-winners.

While we wait, I have a few ideas for future tournaments.

1) Weekly (or biweekly, monthly, etc) night tournaments where people can meet on Skype, IRC, whatever...and play a live tournament. Format will depend on amount of people and how much time people want to dedicate. Could be a fun addition (not replacement) to our current tournament format.

2) Copy the QT3 format where you can challenge anyone, have to play a minimum amount of games, and announce results. This would allow the players who are always playing to get more games in.

Sorry we're taking so long to finish, we just can't seem to end up playing at the same time, so we're taking shots at each other back and forth. I'll be ready for the consolation bracket as soon as rob and I finish our tiebreaker. (Which won't help... <g>)

Hey bigred, I'd be down for either of those formats. Ascension is getting better with every expansion and it's overtaken all other iOS games for me

One thing for option #2. I play in the Qt3 leagues as well and I think, if you go ahead with it, you should add te caveat that one player can only challenge another player once or twice, depending on how many ppl there are. Otherwise, those who play a lot more than others are rewarded unfairly.

I noticed that both the Ascension and Penny Arcade leagues at Qt3 quickly added the caveat for a good balanced league format. Hope that helps!

A live tournament, with chat, would be great fun.
For a monthly one the QT3 format sounds good. You could also go for something like a single elimination tournament with the top players from the previous month getting byes in the opening round/s to balance the numbers. Once the initial draw is set each month this would more or less look after itself and with around 20 players there should only need to be 5-6 rounds a month which should fit in fairly well.

We are done and I have now delivered what is clearly the most consistent performance across the five qualifying rounds. There was a point where I thought I might spoil it by winning this match but Ranger Rick soon used good play to remove that danger. My thanks to him and to all my opponents for helping me to this achievement, but really I must take most of the credit.

That made me laugh more than it should! Congrats robthomasson!

Rob, I thought you were pretty damn good during our friendly games from a few months ago.

Clearly, you came to this tournament with clear achievements in mind and you did not let anyone stop you in your path!
