Let's talk anime.

Looks like Fairy Tail is trying to get an episode per [manga] chapter. I assume that they are trying to avoid catching up too rapidly, so far it is working, so that's good.

Looks like they've decided not to do more filler though.Fairy Tail anime ends on March 30th. I don't think that's even going to leave room to finish up the games, let alone the arc!

That... makes me sad.

I just started watching Michiko and Hatchin. I believe it's the next project from the guys that made Cowboy Beebop and Samurai Champloo, both of which are two of my favorite shows of all time. I'm two episodes in, and so far it has the great writing/pacing, excellent animation, and awesome soundtrack that you'd expect from those guys. Funimation has all 22 eps streaming for members. I must admit, I'm pretty excited to see where it goes. It's really difficult not to get overly excited about it!

If you are not interested in the funimation membership, it also appears to be available on Hulu, although streaming it through other devices seems to be disabled.

That is the most dismal news I've seen today :(. They, at least, had better get to the inevitable face off between Dragonslayers! At least the manga is still running strong (I think (I hope)).
I guess I still have a few shows to look forward to weekly...

Been watching a lot of Crunchyroll on the PS3. Just finished Another(really awesome horror story), and Occult Academy, and am working on Tsuritama (it's about fishing) and. Any suggestions for good horror anime?

I never got past the first couple episodes of Tsuritama. I liked the premise, though. I liked Another and Occult Academy. Just to make sure, you've watched Death Note, yes? It's not really horror, but Psycho Pass is pretty decent and is airing now. You have to watch it on Hulu or Funimation, though.

The only other ones I can think of at the moment are Corpse Princess and maybe the movie, Blood the Last Vampire. You've probably seen all of those, though.

Edit: What about Natsume Yujin-cho? In my opinion, it's better than anything mentioned above except for Death Note. It's oh so relaxing. It's definitely not horror, but it's got the spirit thing going for it.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is the only good horror anime that comes to mind and I really liked Another.

Just finished Starship Operators. It was a good watch and they did a good job of showing the realities of remote space battles.

Elfen Lied is pretty good.

More blood than horror on that one I think. Not that I didn't enjoy it.

I'll second Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When They Cry as it was released in NA). Other than that, good horror anime are hard to find. Been disappointed in some way or another in most of the others I've watched.

Shingetsutan Tsukihime (aka Lunar Legend Tsukihime) and Kara no Kyokai (aka The Garden of Sinners) were both horror series that were fairly interesting and well produced. The two series are somewhat related, in that they take place in alternate universe versions of each other and some of the premise and character design elements are reused from KnK to Tsukihime, but they aren't otherwise connected. Though the original novel series is older, the anime adaption of KnK is newer and had a much higher production budget than Tsukihime, so if you only check out one, it should be KnK.

Unfortunately, I can't find either on any major instant streaming service.

Looking at the Fairy Tail manga and the anime, the anime will conclude with the end of the dragonslayers fight.

I just hope they don't decide to finish up the arc with manga-bundled OVAs. We never get legal releases of those outside of Japan.

On the subject of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni:

Trailer for Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kaku anime

The trailer already has me interested, even after the disappointments of Kai and Rei. But I can't have enough crazy chicks... so yeah...

The Gintama anime has revealed that the next (current) arc will be the series' last. Seems like the 2 long standing anime I like are both coming to an end in the same month... They both have stories left to tell too. Just sad.

Started watching Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere not sure how far I'll try to follow it only seen three episodes so far.
Also testing out Problem Children are Coming from Another World, Aren't They: interesting premise but suffers from the same stuff that drives people crazy in Dragon Ball Z (long pauses, dialogue issues).

I tried confirming this, but all I see is that the time slot is getting filled. Gintama takes so many breaks anyway, do we know it's done for good?

One can hope, but at the end of the last Best Of episodes they made it sound pretty final. New movie in the summer to look forward to though (if it will ever hit the states).

The spring season snuck up on me this time!

IMAGE(http://moetron.com/uploads/20130222_animuchart01.jpg)

I may be losing Fairy Tail on my list, but plenty on the table for this season. Have squels to pick up in Oreimo 2 and Higurashi. Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) has caught my attention.

Not sure I'm ready for Nyaruko-san W. As much as I love the show, it's so fast pace and reference heavy that it's not the most relaxing show to watch. :p

Probaly give Hentai Ouji, Namiuchigiwa, and Aku no Hana a look, but don't know if any of them will stick.

Another Detective Conan movie? I'm really behind. I think I left off on 12.

It isn't dead yet! Just delayed.

Just finished Nisemonogatari which seeing how I quite like the original it's odd that it took so long for me to watch the second season. The art style is as fantastic as usual and overall just as insane. It felt oddly short as it was really only two stories. Very much an acquired taste, and erratic to the extreme. It was not a surprise to learn the same person made Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei.

Insane, random, echhi, deep, shallow, very funny, and whatever it else it feels like at the moment. A slice of life if your life was way more interesting and nothing like normal life to begin with...

So now you need to go seek out Nekomonogatari! And then later this year we'll supposedly have Monogatari 2nd Season and another movie, Kizumonogatari.

And done. Quite good although I think I prefer the others more. Not to mention going back in the timeline is a bit odd thematically. Still it added a whole lot more depth to one of the characters. Also the ending was pretty damn clever. The second half Nekomonogatari white is not out yet, correct? Movie is delayed too it seems. Ah well no rush.

Holy crap, a Shingeki no Kyojin anime? The manga is amazing. It's kind of like a zombiesque survival story but instead of zombies you have giants.

The new season gives us not one but three series about giant robots.

First we have Majestic Prince, which is about a high-school aged squad of giant robot pilots. The show is self-aware in the extreme, and the main characters are constantly sighing about each other's obsessions. The show also gives us a hilarious modern twist where one of the characters more or less watches the world tweeting about their exploits in real-time. The show is a comedy more than anything. This show and angst want to have nothing to do with each other.

Which is not something I can say for Valvrave the Liberator, which I think is trying for some sort of angst record. Let's see: Normal high school student (check) living in a space colony (check) falls into the cockpit (check) of a secret prototype giant robot (check) during a sneak attack by an aggressive warlike space-empire (check). Death abounds. The main character seems to be a passive, peace-loving sort. The entire series seems to be conspiring to give him as many reasons to angst as possible.

So, basically, we've got the plot of Mobile Suit Gundam with an attempt to pull in shades of Evangelion, combined with a twist thrown in at the end of the first episode which literally had me laughing out loud (which I expect was not the intended reaction).

Oh, and curiously, this show also seems to be playing the live-tweeting-during-giant-robot-battles game. Where Majestic Prince uses it for hilarity, Valvrave seems to be setting it up as yet another source of angst.

I think I probably hate this show.

Finally, we have Gargantia on the Verduous Planet. The show opens on a massive space battle, between a highly advanced human armada and some sort of aliens. As the battle ends, Leto, our protagonist, just one soldier amongst many, ends up being cast adrift in hyperspace (or whatever), and ends up with his giant robot on a distant planet, inhabited by a much more primitive civilization of humans.

The series is surprisingly intelligent. The language barrier between Leto and the humans he finds himself among is a significant element of the plot. The series seems to be science fiction first, and giant robot fighting second.

It is also written by Gen Urobuchi, who has something of a reputation. He also wrote Madoka, among other things.

I have high hopes for this one.

Man, I'm completely out again. I just finished Michiko and Hatchin, and although I didn't like it as much as Cowboy Beebop or Samurai Champloo, I do think it's really good. The soundtrack was awesome and it has some really cool moments, if anything it just wasn't as action packed as I like.

Now that I have this Funimation account, any recommendations that I should go back and watch? I think I've gotten just about everything out of Crunchyroll. I could really use something that has some good action but also doesn't suck in every other regard.

Anyone checkout Attack on Titan yet?

Yep, good so far, though the preview for the thrid episode still looks like we're in the prologue. At least I hope it's just the prologue, given how much they hype up the actin of fighting the Titans rather than how our characters got to fighting them.

It definitely seems to have potential. Just finished Episode 2.

Anyone else watching or watched "The Unlimited" it's based on a Manga series Zettai Karen Children. but follows on of the antagonists. I'm digging it because he's almost lelouche like in his deviousness, but not quite as good a tactician.

I just finished that one up. Was quite pleased with the internal conflict in it. Had a very X-Men feel to it as well.

Anime I'm watching now:
Attack on Titan (Very interested, hopefully it doesn't end up as one of those with a cliffhanger ending encouraging folks to buy the manga)
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet
Flowers of Evil (Kind of a difficult anime to watch, I'm not sure how long I'll watch it.)
DEVIL SURVIVOR 2 THE ANIMATION (Based on a game, no previous anime exists. Think Digimon meets Final Destination.)
Majestic Prince (Not sure if I'll keep watching this one.)
AMNESIA
Vividred Operation
Nyarko-san: Another Crawling Chaos
GJ Club
Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere
(Another I'm not sure I'll bother to keep up with.)
Chihayafuru
Michiko and Hatchin
The Devil is a Part Timer!
(Surprisingly good, I hope it keeps up the momentum)
