Star Trek Online Catch-All

Thanks ilduce620! Of course today is the first day this week I might not get the chance to login

I can guarantee the 500/mo of Zen you get as a lifer will not apply to NWO. I have LT to STO and CO and they keep those tied to each game (bastiges!). If you bought Zen with real money, I am pretty sure that is cross game.

Well awe... Oh well Guess I can let it stockpile and Buy new ships, maybe keys even. Got a ton of those temporal boxes. Need to add a stack to the fleet inventory.

I believe you can go to PWE main site and transfer ZEN between games.

*update I think your correct - tried off man site under my ZEN wallet. Once it down to the game it there it seems - boo...

I'm having quite a bit of fun. Although the sheer number of options for crew skills and equipment is a bit staggering. So is the crafting system. Avoiding that for now, unless anyone has specific suggestions for Mk. 1 or 2 things I should build.

The crafting system, unless they've changed it in the last six months since I've been on last, is absolutely not a selling point of the game. There are only certain recipes you can follow, and the items you can craft are not very special. A few are good, like the Omega (?) series, but you will find better stuff either by doing story missions or STFs. Plus the unlock system is pretty ridiculous; craft a bunch of crap to unlock the second tier of mostly crap, then do a bunch of those to unlock the final tier of nothing special. Unless you've got thousands of extra credits and/or nebula-discovery items, it's probably not worth your time.

Not to mention, the game is typically overflowing your inventory with vastly better equipment the entire time you're trying to level up crafting, which makes it even more grindy.

Cool, should I just sell off these low level mineral samples and what nots then?

Nah, they'll be useful for Starbase projects, if nothing else.

The crafting system has a couple uses. You can make lower lever gear for alts and new players. And you can fill in a few holes in your late game set. The really choice consoles go for a lot, and you can use a bunch of them. It can help. Some.

Given how fast you level up now, its not worth worrying about gear, since you replace it pretty much every ten levels. I'd ignore crafting, bank the raw mats, sell equipment you can't use and just do whatever you enjoy that gets you exp. Hell, just doing DOs can level you up at a decent pace.

What's a DO? Daily something?

And when can I try PvP?

I think it means duty officers.

Yeah you can log in and fill up you 20 duty officer assignments. Come back in a few hours and fill some more. And the next day, and so on. And you'll gain bars and levels for doing nothing.

It's funny but it is kind of addictive, sending them out, and getting free stuff, and getting awarded with more officers, and it just keeps going.

Pretty cool, they should make a mobile app to track them like the Eve helpers.

If I want to get new ships without buying Zen for cash, I need to do dilithium missions and refine it and trade for Zen, correct?

Correct. I've done just that.

One sexy beast!!!

I completed some exploration missions in the cluster off the Sirius block and received my first set of Duty officers and put them to work. Interesting system there, and the passive resource collecting is nice. I also refined my first dilithium ore reward, yay! Should be on my way to buying my first real ship. Now, which one...

Save your dilithium ship purchases until you're an admiral. You just don't spend much time in the lower level ships. Once we get the Fleet Starbase all tricked out, you'll be able to buy quality refits of a ship that you like the look of.

The Duty Officer system is a nice little side game. There are a lot of missions that add flavor to the game. There's a channel in game to help you find choice assignments, along with a google doc.

PvP Info

Back in the day, when you got to start your klingon captain after you hit level 10? 5? on the Fed side, the early levels of PvP were a lot of fun. I haven't tried it with the last 18 months or so, and have no idea what its like now.

I'm no PVPer, but I would recommend you get the hang of the Special Task Force (STF) missions before you go down the PvP path. They're challenging coop group v. environment missions that will require the level of skill and coordination that will make you a monster in PvP. If you're too level for STFs, though, then just go for it if you'd like.

I'm not sure who else is contributing to the Starbase projects, but I'm light on dilithium. I can do most other components. I just pumped 360 fleet marks into the Tactical and Science projects.

Oh, Peregrine Fighters. I have none of those.

I'll try and log in tonight and convert some zen into dilithium. I bought those fighters somewhere before... Shipyard at earth spacedock maybe?

Got the Peregrines squared away. You were right - ESD in the ship picking area.

Do you guys have any interest in trying to get on at one time and do something together?

We're ready for the first Tactical upgrade to the Starbase.

Can I get a promotion to the level that lets me choose projects? I'm "Moire Nill@Moirenill" in game.

Did you get taken care of Oddrune? I may be able to get it done tomorrow night, unless someone else can get to it before me! If someone does, let me know!

Just logged in and promoted him, also topped of some of the stuff that needed dilithium.

I just promoted him to max, figure if he is going to be active just hand him the keys :-p I'm definately not active enough.

Man if I didn't have a lifetime I wouldn't still play. As it is now I let my zen build up and log in see what is what and log out.

Good call. I'm not playing all that often anymore, either, unless there's a hott new (free) ship for me to jump in and claim. Thanks!!

Fixed that for ya.

Some of you know me from L4D or RL -- I'm Miranda.

Thanks for the promotion. I'll probably be Minecrafting more than Star Trekking for a bit, but I'll keep poking my head in.

My bad sorry.
