Keep up the good work representing and grouping.
And hooray for more people.

I'm pretty flexible on Saturday, as most of the things I need to do can be time shifted.

We should take a big group in to WvW after the bounty and explore new colors!

I've seen some nights where there was a GWJ group in WvW, but it's a fairly uncommon occurrence at this point.

I've become more interested in WvW to the point where I'm considering trying to find a WvW guild to join so I could be part of an actual organized group when in WvW. (The idea being that I'd spend the majority of my time in GWJ only swapping out when I was actually playing WvW) I'm not sure if a good fit for that plan actually exists though, because the most obvious organized guild (Os) has a one-guild-only policy and an absurd membership tax.

I've been mostly playing WvW lately, but I think I may have burned myself out. The level of stupid out there is astonishing.

I don't even know that Os had a membership tax; when I heard about the one guild only thing, I said no. I mean, not only do I have GWJ, but I have a personal guild, and a guild for my son, and Ducki has a guild...all of them because we needed the bank space. Apparently, I'm a MMO hoarder. Anyway, even if I was willing to leave a guild I've been in for almost a decade, through many games, so I could play follow the dot with strangers on the internet, I couldn't do it because I have no place to put all my stuff.

Anyway; I'm almost always up for a WvW group; especially since we get new enemies and a new color on Friday.

Ducki, in this game you can actually be in multiple guilds. The only stipulation is you can only "rep" one guild at a time, that is, get guild credit while questing etc. So you could be in a WvW guild and see their guild chat, etc and when you are done with WvW for a bit, you switch to GWJ.

Oh yeah, you can only WvW with a guild on your server also. :)

Heh, yeah, I know...that's why I have 4 or 5 guilds. We were talking about how one of the primary WvW guilds only allows their members to be in that singular guild; they make you quit any other guilds you may be in.

Dulfy has a great spoilerific guide to the bounties: http://dulfy.net/2013/02/27/gw2-guild-bounty-guide/

So...I'm reading through the Complete Guide to Guild Missions, and I get to this:

There are a total of 6 guild missions to complete and they scale according to the number of people participating. Even with the best gear available and downscaled to level 60, the Flame Legion in this particular Guild Challenge are incredibly tough to kill so it is absolutely key to work together and coordinate tactics before you start.

It should be noted that this event has never been successfully completed, even by internal testers and developers and although we lasted for a long period of time (4 minutes remaining) we still failed multiple times, even with ArenaNet on hand to help.

So...that sounds fun...? *nervous laugh*

Edit to add: It looks like we all probably want to be able to communicate via vent or an analog thereof. Is vent a good solution for everyone?

Right. The time limit for completing a Bounty is, I believe, 15 minutes. And for a Tier 1 Bounty we have to kill 2 Champions somewhere across the entire world within that time limit... which kinda implies that we may want to have two groups going -- one to take out each Champion separately. I read that we can go out and look for the targets in the world before actually activating the Bounty (i.e. queue up the Bounty, wait 12 hours for it to build, then look for the two Champions, and THEN activate the Bounty).

Also... completing a Tier 1 Bounty will net us 15 Guild Merits. And there's a cap on the number of Guild Merits that can be earned for each of the mission types: 25 for Bounty (source)... So assuming we successfully complete the Tier 1 Bounty, we could run it 1 more time for "partial credit" within the week... but it wouldn't do us any good to run a Tier 2 or Tier 3.

Well, the practice, fun and drops might be worth it along with giving everyone a shot at trying the missions. We'll have to look into it some more.

From what I have read, the individual rewards for completing a guild bounty is 50 silver, 2 rares (with a small chance at a precursor) and the guild currency. I think that reward is once a week for each tier, but don't quote me on that.

Newbie player here. Just started a human thief on the correct server, and I added my name to the form. What does one have to do to obtain a guild invitation? I'm still getting the hang of this game; I'm not even sure about factions or anything like that. So far it looks great and I'm having a blast, and no doubt I will figure it out as I go along. Of course, if anyone is willing to act as a mentor that would probably speed things up - not so much in terms of levelling, but explaining some of the background and concepts. I should probably add that I've played WoW for more years than I care to count, if that helps.

Invite sent

Looks like your invite is taken care of. Welcome aboard.

As for mentoring/assistance, the whole guild can take care of that. Just pipe up in chat and you'll likely get answers in short order. There has been a steady stream of new faces in the guild of late so you wont be alone at low levels, and you wont be alone asking questions.

Thank you kindly!

I'm still pretty new to GW2 as well Rallick so if there's an area you want company in, just let me know as I probably haven't done it either and having WoW myself for a number of years may have asked within the last week the same questions you might have.

Hmmm. Maybe I'll come back to GW2 tonight. I've got some free time, even though Ni No Kuni calls...

Alright since no one has come forward with a time yet, I'm going to suggest we schedule a guild bounty tomorrow at 15h00 EST tomorrow (Saturday March second). That should allow EST and PST people top get in on the action. Any objections? The other option is to wait until evening and try then.

I'll add a tied 1 bounty and add that to the queue. If we do well we can try upgrading our merit score with tier 2, and 3 bounties later in the week.

I'm up for an evening run. I'm rarely home before 6 or 7 pst on the weekends.

Stupid having a life.

As I'm not at end game yet the timing isn't critical for me but how long do the runs usually take? That would help me know which time I'm more likely to carve out with the family.

Guild Bounty has a time limit of 15 minutes.

merphle wrote:

That's about 2.75 hours less than I thought

I'll try and be online just because then.

If the wife and little one are still out I can make that time, but my normal clear playing time is 9:30est or later.

Actually, will take a good bit longer than that to organize. We will need to pre-locate all or a large percentage of the potential bounty targets.

Furthermore, to get individual credit a guild member will need to contribute to the actual kills. I am unclear if individuals need to contribute to both kills (for tier 1) or just one or the other.

For those who don't have world complete, it would probably be a good idea to at least get likely waypoints ahead of time. For a list of all the bounty targets and their paths use this guide.

For the Guild to get credit, at least 1 member of the guild has to attack each of the bounty targets (i.e. if we start the bounty, and then before we find the target some random PCs decide to kill it, then the guild will not get the bounty rewards). Individually, you should receive personal rewards as long as you personally attack at least one of the bounty targets. You don't have to personally attack ALL of the targets to get the individual rewards (i.e. 2 +rares and 50 silver).

Welcome aboard

Sign me up for today's bounty event!

Eldain Rising refugee, and just wanted to say howdy. Thanks also for taking us in. I am Galoot in game, the big, vain Charr.

Should be around this afternoon at the time of the Bounty event, should y'all need another.

Nice to see all the new folks (and others who are coming back to play). I plan on being around for the Bounty fun as well. See you then!

Ack, Redd, your avatar is disturbing.

/runs away.

Wait, that's Reddot?

edit: lol

In the future could we try to either have established days and times for these guild missions, or at least try for more than 24 hours notice? I'm on and playing every day, yet between my morning Friday playtime and when I manage to log in on Saturday I missed the event (or even hearing that an event was due to occur).

I understand folks were excited to fire up the first mission ASAP, but such short lead times are going to exclude people who would very much like to participate had they time to plan appropriately.

Tyops first said we'd be doing it Saturday back on Thursday. The only thing we were still working out was what time. They're also cheap enough (200 influence & 12 hour build time) that we can do them rather frequently. I think that if there's enough interest we'll be doing another one tonight.

Granted. Yet the actual time was still presented with less than a full day's notice, leaving me (and perhaps others) unable to participate. Gamers with Jobs (or families, or other responsibilities) often need more time to work out life schedules, and in general last I checked that was the type of gamer this site was about.

I'm not trying to raise a huge stink over one decision here, but I am trying to open up a constructive dialog over how to handle scheduling these events that provide our members with a valuable character upgrade path in the future.
