Gears & Beers Fridays

Anybody gonna be on tonight?

I dunno what some friends in town have planned, but should things fall through tonight, I'll be around.

Glad to be on your backup list

Would you have preferred that I just said, "No"?

I'll probably not be on tonight, but I'm off work until after the new year, so I'm available to chainsaw or shoot as much as anyone can commit to.

I appreciate brutal honesty. Especially at Christmas.

Is anyone buying into Judgement? Still haven't bothered with the campaign from 3.

I probably won't be picking it up.

I have it on my gamefly list and will play the campaign, but the changes to multiplayer that I've seen make me less than interested.

It's pre-ordered. I can't wait.

Hey there's a Gears 1 digital download code included in every Judgement box. Maybe we could just go back to that.

Radical Ans, quixotic.june, and I will be working on the campaign in the weeks leading up to the release of Judgement if you're interested. We've only played one night and haven't finished act one yet.

Three people for a two-player co-op?

Gears 3 has four-player co-op.

Whoops. I read Gumbie's post and then skipped Trueheart's quote in your post. I thought you were talking about the first.

I'ma go crawl into my hole now.

That's just it, I couldn't care less about the story of 3 (they're all pretty bland to me), but if we're not going to have a decent group playing multiplayer frequently, I'll end up skipping Judgement.

The only thing that could get me to reconsider is if the game's being released at budget price. I'll get it, I mean I love Baird and co., but I just don't feel like spending $60 on another Gears of War that, from what I recall, doesn't have an improved Horde mode.

The Microsoft online store is offering a 1600 points pre-order bonus. Considering that's also the price of the "season pass", I don't know. I'd have to be really sold on it at this point.

I doubt I will get it. I don't like anything I have heard about it.

I've not heard as much about this game as I've not heard about others. That said, if no one else is buying I lose a lot of my reasons for playing.

There's a good chance I'll buy it as long as I end up seeing a couple of you online playing it at some point.

No Dead Room = No sale. Something so small and so easy to implement changes the experience so much.

Buuuuuuuuut....If I eat Oberto beef jerky and give em a big ol' Like on Facebook I can play Execution game mode. barf

Yeah I've tweeted their asshole community manager twice asking him about dead room and was ignored both times. f*ck you Epic and People Can Fly.

I went to google to see if you were kidding about the Facebook thing and found ... something I really don't care for.

“Gears of War: Judgment,” the People Can Fly-developed follow-up to the long-running active-reloading sim, will have a Season Pass, according to Epic Games. The pass will cost 1600 Microsoft Points ($19.99) and give players access to at least two unannounced packs of post-launch content.

While details are scarce, the two DLC packs covered by the Season Pass include six multiplayer maps and two new modes, as well as some weapon and armor skins to customize your in-game Locust-slaughtering golem. According to Epic, buying a Season Pass gets you a 20% discount compared to buying each add-on individually, as well as early access to new multiplayer maps.

Furthermore, Maxim is sponsoring two more maps (Capitol and Haven, pictured above), and “Judgment”’s “Execution” mode, the series standby mode in which players must use elaborate executions -- think the curb stomp, or Torque bow decapitation -- to eliminate enemies. Epic confirmed to RipTen that these new maps and modes will be available two weeks after launch for the general public, but Season Pass owners will get early access.

Here’s the kicker: “Gears of War: Judgment” Season Pass owners will also receive a permanent double XP boost in the game’s persistent leveling system. “Judgment”’s leveling system is tied to a prize box system (similar to “Mass Effect 3”’s multiplayer) that includes special weapon and armor skins, but its unclear if they are also tied to extra weapons or other perks.

I know there's a semi-meltdown underway in another thread about the evolving economic environment of gaming, and I don't want to creat another one here, but damn.

Sorry if old, btw.

I'd be happy going back to Gears 2 or 3 instead of supporting that model, because, man.

No thank you sir!

If people started playing Gears 2 again on Friday night I would down, unfortunately I think most people got rid of it.

I still have it, and after that description of terrible, I'm definitely up for it. Not home till next Friday, though. 3/8/13, Gears 2? Anyone??

My group kept running into inconvenient bugs that I can't recall off the top of my head in Gears 2's horde mode. Made things like executions inconvenient.

I think it was if you were revving a chainsaw or something and got hit, holding the B button or tapping it quickly after would result in recycling the animation. I figured it was something happening just to my friend, but it happened to all of us and made executions pointless half the time.

Yes, that was it. So I CAN recall it off the top of my head.

I'm down. I still have Gears 1 and 2.

Yeah, I saw that season pass stuff too. I think it's fair to mention that XP is largely cosmetic in Gears, and it only unlocks character and weapon skins.

I still have all 3 Gears as well, so I'd be down for some 1 or 2.

I'll rebuy Gears 2 or 1 if we can get GnB back up and running. It's been too long since I murdered you dicks.
