Guild Wars 2 Catch All

I noticed another nice thing about the rotating daily achievements tonight. Even after you complete the 5 achievements you need to get the daily reward, you can still do any of the others and get more XP from them. I wound up getting all except the WvW one done. Most without even trying- although I did try to remove the "Sparkfly" from "Sparkfly Fen" to get the ambient kills one.

I linked my GW1 and GW2 accounts, and all I got was the heritage armor. But then again, I only did 98% of Prophecies (got stuck at Ring of Fire), 5% of Factions and 50% of Nightfall campaigns. EotN I only bought and barely played at all. And yet I spent over 250 hours on GW1 according to Steam. So yeah, if you've made progress with GW1, even completed chunks of the contents, you'll get a bunch of rewards.

Big thanks go to Elycion and Deepsea for helping me out with the story last night!!! And to Oldgoat for putting up with me as I wander the countryside and explore! You guys are the best.

Hey Eleima,

Do you have a bunch of gold on your old account? You can buy some elite armors to get a few extra points. Also, you should be able to get some points from dedicating the birthday mini-pets I'm sure you have.

Actually, I was a late comer to Guild Wars, so I only have two birthday pets (mandragor imp and temple guardian). I do have something like 17 platinum lying around, so I will look into spending that. Thanks!

I have mixed feelings about the new dailies. It's good that you can choose 5/9 to go for, but last night I spent an hour mostly looking for Group Events to be able to finish.

As far as i can tell, the so-called group events are the ones that have a champion or veteran boss identified by the orange beast skull on the map.

I completed all of the campaigns and had a fully leveled character of each class, but didn't get anything (unless I'm looking in the wrong place, which is entirely possible as I've yet to find anything resembling a bank). Maybe I linked the wrong account? It didn't give me any errors or anything. Maybe I should've double-checked first. I'm guessing it's too late to do anything about it now.

Get onto support if it's not working, they're apparently good about sorting that out.

For the campaigns you should get a title (saviour or champion of tyria/cantha/elona, etc), which you register at the EotN, after that and doing a logout/login, it should be instantly recognised in the HoM page/GW2.

Yeah, it says I'm supposed to have a suit of heritage armor and a title. I'm ranked 5. I could probably get my rank higher if I actually went back into Guild Wars and put my pets/minis into the monument but I don't know if that's really an option anymore.

It's not too late! Like Scratched said, it's instantaneous. The first thing is unlocking the hall of Monuments in GW1, if you want to have anything at all (aside from the heritage armor which you get with linked accounts), you need to finish the Eye of the North campaign (which I should probably start at some point). Once the hall of monuments is unlocked, you can put your pets and minis in there and it will update accordingly. If not, something's not working right and you should contact support.

I tried to go back to GW1 today, but... ugh, I just can't. I have two or three more missions in Prophecies before I can finish that campaign, but... GW1 just feels so sluggish and clunky compared to GW2 now. It's really hard going back.

Eleima wrote:

Not quite. You need to finish parts of the campaign to open up the tapestries, but you get one just for getting there, and you can be selective about which order you use the, say if you don't have any elite weapons, or so on.

There's still things I love in GW1, decisions they made about how morale works, etc. It is hard to compare them, because if they didn't share a name/setting, you would never guess they were linked.

You need to use the Hall of Monuments Portal Stone and then talk to Kimmes the Historian to get the skins. Then you need to double click them and pick a piece of armor to apply them to. You can get as many copies of the skins as you want, so you don't have to waste transmutation stones to keep the look when you get better armor/weapons.
All new characters should start with a portal stone in their inventory, but if you didn't or you lost it (or you linked your accounts after you made a character), you can get new ones for free from a merchant in Hooligan's Route in Lion's Arch.

I had gone back to play GW in order to get as many points as I needed for the Black Moa - I used different hero builds based upon what I've read on the net in order to make my life a lot easier

I'm due for some birthday presents soon too, so that may get me a few more points.

Welcome aboard to all the new players! I've been leveling up my guardian lately, I think because I've been mostly doing WvW while Duckilama is off on his minecraft adventures with Duckling. Because guardians rock in WvW. She survives stuff that would have flattened my necro.

I mostly play in the evenings after Duckling has gone to bed, and it's often just a short window, but I'm always ready to help a guildie if someone is stuck, or needs help. I still haven't done the story mode of dungeons on any character, (except maybe Caud on Cruella? I can't remember if we did it on story or not.), and weekends I have more flexibility about playtime at night; so if anyone else wants to do some story dungeons on the weekends, I'm in. Also; I'm at lvl 3(?) I think in fractals. I'm not great at them, because my reflexes seem a little slow for a lot of what happens, but I'm usually willing to give it a shot.

Edit to ask: Do you just need to have *had* a GW account, or did you need to have actually played it to some level? I'm pretty sure I had a GW account, but I don't remember if I played it very much.

You had to have a GW account with the Eye of the North expansion, and had to get just far enough into EotN to unlock the Hall of Monuments as a minimum. That means at least one level 20 character.

Elycion wrote:

No, just progressed far enough in the main campaigns to get to the entrance to the EotN campaign, and level 10. If you're below 20 you'll get the Journey to the North buff

While leveling last night I stumbled across a "Guild Bounty" event. I'm still unclear what they are other than something you do as a guild. Has the GWJ guild done them in the past? Is it only for max level characters? Does it involve bacon?

We are currently building the upgrades. We will ahve access to guild bkunties some time this weekend.

I contacted tech support. They said I had the right account, but that I hadn't actually done the prerequisite stuff in Guild Wars to activate the bonuses and that I should log in and have a chat with Kimmes. I think I still have it installed on my lappy.

The Frozen Maw meta event was enough to fill my quota. It's got like 4 or 5 event stages, is in a low-level zone (wayfarer foothills) and activates about every half hour.

There are also group events in dungeons and I think taking towers or above in WvW are group events also.

Please have a look at the Guild Wars 2 Guild organization thread for guild updates and to take part in the discussion about when we will hold our first bounty hunt (and subsequent scheduling).

Got my HoM stuff sorted. Across all of my characters I had about 30 unique mini-pets, so adding all those brought me up to rank 12.

I only have one character that's finished Eye of the North, but I have a bunch of elite armors on other characters. Can I just transfer those armors over to my main to add them to the monument, or does it not work that way?

I suppose I could jump around and just craft a bunch of high-tier armor if I have to. Not like I'm going to need those resources for anything else, and I always liked to mix and match pieces anyway so I don't know how many full sets I have.

I tried that and no :(. I've got 2 points waiting for me if I get around to finishing another bit of the EotN campaign on some characters.

If you bring those characters to EotN you can use extra tapestries to dedicate those elite armours... the HoM rewards count all of your characters' points together.

Isn't that essentially the same thing as finishing Eye of the North? I'm not really looking to get back into the first game, here.

When you first make it to the eye you get a tapestry. You'll get one for each character that makes it there. You can use those strategically to display an elite armor here and achievement there. Gw2 takes into account the sum total of your hall to calculate the final score.

Yeah, I understand. It's the whole getting there thing that concerns me.

I know that there are travel quests to get into the Eye of the North content, but can I just run to the Eye of the North once I do those?

Let it be know that on March 2nd, GWJ did hunt down Diplomat Tarban, wanted for impersonation of an ambassador, and Devious Teesa, wanted for theft, attempted assassination, and incorrect filling of Patent Form 12.21-D.

Good job everyone. WE have another bounty researched and ready to go for this evening if people are interested.
