Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag

So it sounds like they'll be using a lot more of the naval battles. Could be interesting since they were quite good in AC3. But still, I'm hesitant. I got burned by AC3. I want to love the series again, but they'll need to show something special, otherwise I'm out till it's in the $10 bargain bin.

I agree!

I guess we know what we'll be collecting this time.

I feel largely the same, except I don't care and will buy whatever they do if it's pirate themed. They keep tricking me like this.

I would have much preferred it taking place during the French Revolution. Seem more appropriate to the AC theme than piracy.

At least they aren't running Conner into the ground like they did with Ezio.

+1. I don't think i could of handled another game with Connor.

Not even a continuation like Brotherhood or Revelations? Just a straight up sequel?

Well, that guarantees it. AC3 is my last one for a while because my interest is done.

Why would you want a sequel less than a spinoff?

TV PARTY TONIGHT!

I don't like rushed sequels. Hell, I don't like spin-offs that release annually. If AC3 was as bugged and problematic as it sounds, then releasing a sequel so soon just...gah.

Oh I don't know, Ubisoft and piracy seems suitably appropriate

At least this way if it fails and they blame piracy again, then they are technically taking responsibility for bad content :p

I think the actual title is Assassin's Creed IIII: Black Flag

Well, they claim that a separate team is doing this one and that it has been in works for years. Of course, that is what they claim.

If they find a way to attach a hidden blade to a ship of the line, I'm in.

AC and AC2 were fresh and exciting. I haven't even gotten around to AC: Rev and AC3 because too much of a good thing with too little variation is not inspiring. I would prefer more time between sequels so there's more room for innovation and growth between product releases.

They call those triremes.

I'm still waiting for one that takes place in mid-1800's New York City.

The game is generally about how one man can make a difference to make the world more free. Which implies this man was acting during times of great change and upheaval. So it's odd that they picked a time that doesn't really have that. I mean, thematically, it ought to take place during wars, coups, and other events of this nature. I'no history buff, so what happened in the late 1600s and early 1700s in the Caribbean that was a great upheaval?

+1. Or is it Like? I don't know, I'm so social medially inept.

Well, there was the great arrrt of the time.

Yeah, I'm with you guys on this one. I feel like AC3 came out a couple of weeks ago, and all I heard was that it was pretty buggy and full of bugs. They really, really need to slow down on the rate at which they're churning these out, I'm just not convinced...

So wait, they're not even bothering with the proper "IV"? o_O

I'm excited for this. I think AC Revelations was unfairly beat up but despite warming on it later, I think AC3 was bloated and reached way too far and diluted what made the series good in the process. However, I absolutely loved the naval stuff in AC3 and if they're basing a new game around that, I think it could be cool. They've been kitchen sinking (no pun intended, OK maybe) this series for too long and it's gone way beyond its means. If they can narrow the focus and do fewer things better, I think it could be great. I'm hopeful, AC is one of my favourite series of this generation.

I'm waiting for AC3 to get very cheap before buying it. Luckily I got the news on the game before taking the plunge. I'll be wary on the next one but I'm still up for another Assassin's Creed. Hopefully they will realise they need to drop some mechanics and focus the game.
