The Playstation Vita Catch-All

Anyone pick up the Urban Freestyle release yet? I'm waiting for more reviews aside from "it was better on the 360".

It looks like a me-too of Trials, and the action scenes are very impressive. At $10 it would've been a no-brainer for Vita, but the exclusion of the set piece moments that set it apart from Trials really bums me out.

You have to be kidding me.

I'm not ready to believe it yet. That was a question answered by a single executive in an after-hours interview. Nobody ever, ever answers questions like that honestly in that setting. If there is going to be a price drop, it will be announced through the usual channels, and it will be 100% denied until it is announced through those channels.

I bought it and I think it's pretty good, though maybe a tad on the easy side so far. No doubt it's a Trials clone, but I spent about an hour with it and I felt like my $8 was well spent. YMMV, I guess, but I'm sure I can name 4 $2 iphone apps that I've enjoyed way less.

There's a demo, so no reason not to at least download that.

If all it turns out to be is a respectable Trials clone on the Vita for under $10 then I'd be happy with that.

I sold my Vita over the summer, but I bought a new one last weekend... My home gut burgled a few weeks ago, among other stuff they took my Xbox 360 and since I am on the move a lot more these days (girl in another country, trip to a customer by train once a week) I decided to replace the 360 with a Vita when the money from my insurance came in. Didn't buy any games since I had some stuff in my psn account (Lumines, P3P) but I did buy a PS+ subscription. So now I'm playing P3P when I have more time and Lumines when I have a little. And Uncharted and Gravity Rush are waiting for me to play them...

Breaking news:

The next patch for Sound Shapes will allow community levels to be played offline. YEEEEEEES.

That's great news. Now I need to figure out which to play.

Nice sales here: PSN Update

Looks as though it's time to add PS All-Stars, Smart As..., and Sound Shapes to my Vita (I've been waiting for a price drop on the first two). Plus I'll grab PvZ while I'm at it despite having played it so darned much on my iPhone already.

Edit: OH, and I would highly recommend Super Stardust Delta and Hot Shots Golf to anyone that doesn't already have it.

Unit 13, HSG and MLB 12 are all pretty tempting. What was the final verdict on MLB 12?

Super Stardust Delta and Unit 13 are both really good. Unit 13 surprised me. I still really want to co-op that at some point if someone picks it up.

I couldn't stand MLB 12 and I know Jayhawker was equally negative. The series just isn't interactive enough for me.

Can someone post how much Unit 13 is fo plus? And PS All Stars, and whether its for PS3 or Vita. I think I may like it more on a TV. I can't see the link's details on my phone.

So it turns out I just bought a slightly used Vita. I already subscribe to PS+ and plan on picking up Sound Shapes since I've been interested in it for a while. Someone explain to me what Unit 13 is. Is it basically just a mobile SOCOM?

Too bad about MLB...maybe I'll just stick with Unit 13 and HSG.

Edit: Kuddles - yes, Unit 13 is a sort of portable SOCOM. Missions are short and are designed to be repeated with scoring, sort of like Bulletstorm. There's a demo that will give you a better idea of if you'd like it.

Damn it, if PvZ supports custom tracks I know I'll end up playing it again.

And, it does. Crap.

I would note that a lot of people do really like MLB 12. If you like the PS3 version, most claim that the Vita version is surprisingly similar.

I feel like the game kind of plays itself too much. It didn't keep my attention at all.

Unit 13 is $13.22 for PS+ members. It's not clear about All Stars, but I would bet money it's only for Vita even though it's a cross-buy game. I think it's still worth it for $17.63.

Ah, "Vita Anniversary Sale." Sounds like Vita only. I didn't like it there, when the camera zoomed out the action was too small and I didn't like playing something so twitch-based on a handheld. That's on top of my all-around preference for console play.

So this Unit 13 demo is pretty good and looks to be fairly feature-rich.

The game is good, but it's mainly a string of short missions. Almost like TPS puzzles. I like the game and think it's underrated, but don't mistake what it is.

Uh... what?!?

How the hell did I not know this was coming? Was Konami just silent as the grave about this? I totally want Peace Walker on Vita!

EDIT: Oh wait, I thought this was the HD version from HD Collection, but it's not. Nevermind, nothing to see here.

I picked up Plants vs. Zombies for free for vita today. This will be my 3rd time with it, but I look forward to more trophies!

Picked up PS All-Stars, Smart As..., Sound Shapes, Star Wars Pinball pack, and the PvZ freebie. I'll probably pull the trigger on that 1 year +3 free months deal for PSN as well by the end of the week.

Looks like we have an app similar to Street Pass coming.

As long as it automatically downloads/installs goods, then I'll be happy. That's my main gripe with Near, it makes you do this manually. Don't make me do stuff like this manually, do it automatically.

Uhhh...

That's comical.

Just a quick note: I bought Sound Shapes as part of that Vita anniversary sale, and despite everything saying "Vita only" on it, both versions appeared on my download history and seem to work fine. YMMV.

You have to be kidding me.

The other day I saw a Vita with an 8 gb mem card and Hot Shots Golf at Costco (Canada)

it isn't the first time I see the console sub-200 with a bunch of stuff included

The best example is the Assassin's Creed bundle I got for (was it 180?) w Playstation All-stars and 3 monhs of Plus during the holidays at Amazon US
