Wii U Catch-All

OK, I'm now transferring my Wii data over to my Wii U. I did not have to update the system software.

My Ninfriendo ID is LobsterMobster.

Awesome, I'll add you shortly.

As to the Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate demo, I don't see anything other than two hunts that you can select. There isn't local multiplayer, or online, or anything but solo play.

Still, it's fun times.

I'm not seeing you when I search. Can you, when you have time, see if your Friend List (found on the Home menu) needs some initial setup?

edit: I added you directly through the Friend List. You'll have to go there to approve me, I believe. Sorry.

I'll go add you, gamerparent. I didn't see any pop-ups or anything but I guess when it's Nintendo I should just feel lucky I'm not a serial number anymore.

The odd quirk is that if you add someone through Miiverse, they get a notification, but if you just add their name via the Friend List they have to add you as well. Maybe go into Miiverse and allow people to search and add you there.

I'm not sure if I like the controller yet. It's huge and feels like it collects grime really easily and the battery life is less than impressive. I guess it's just very different. I'm sure I'll get used to it in time. And if not, hey, I've got gamepads.

EDIT: OK, I didn't see any new notifications in the main menu or in the MiiVerse, or any MiiVerse friend requests, or friendlist friend requests which are apparently different, but when I tried to add you as a friend it worked and we're now friends.

Is it just me, or is it impossible to find anything? I had to go into the eShop to change my account Mii. Plus everything takes 10 seconds to load so it feels like I'm being punished for exploring.

It's a good thing I love Monster Hunter so much because god damn, Nintendo.

I had a very similar experience exploring my first PS3 in late-January. I've gotten used to both. I'm betting this issue will only be compounded with the next consoles

I've gotten used to the Wii U but it is slow as molasses. The Wii is faster for crying out loud.

And one thing about the Home button and the Home menu. After you bring it up, if you dismiss it, sometimes it lets you return to what you were doing, and other times it spits you back into the Wii U main screen. I cannot figure out when it will do one and when it will do the other. What is the design logic behind its behavior?

Added you Lobster along with as many names I recognized from the profile listings. Also put some money in the account and bought F-Zero and Balloon Fight

Goodness yes it's slow. Even getting into the system settings is painful

Yeah, that's my number one gripe with the system too. In this day and age, waiting for that long for a simple menu is really weird. I really hope that gets addressed in a patch soon.

It's almost Spring, right? I hope we get that first patch soon, too. There's room for improvement, for sure.

Any way to disable the music that plays during the Wii U home screen?

Good question. Not as far as I know, other than turning down the volume on the Gamepad and the TV / receiver. Of course, that's probably not the answer you were looking for.

These aren't the answers you're looking for. /waves hand in front of TheGameguru.

If there is, it's probably hidden under online sharing options on their Google Map thing. Because that's a totally f*cking reasonable place to put it.

I wish I had some WiiU friends...

LOL. This is known.

Well, let's see what we can do about that!

I sent you a ninfriendo request, PRG.

Also just friended LobsterMobster and PRG013. Need to get down to playing that MH demo, but damn if unpacking isn't exhausting stuff. Hopefully this weekend, with impressions to follow.

So did I, and Lobster has one from me as well.

Duplicate post.

I did the same.

Here's a list of everyone who's set a Wii U ID on their profile: Link

Since the remaining half-charge I had on my WiiPad died in the 24 hours I wasn't using it, I'm going to let it charge before I go down the list.

I am going to go through and add everybody that has an ID on their profile. Mine is: Ulairi

The Monster Hunter demo is up! Anyone up for playing?

No multiplayer in the demo. I am happy to play on/after 3/19 though.

The official thread is here, by the way. We should use it, because the Wii game's thread got to 31 pages and I don't think the general Wii U thread is a good spot to replicate it.

Just added everyone on the list I didn't have already, with the exception of GWJstevnmk/stevenmack; entering the NN id raises an error.

Did we never make a ZombiU thread? Ah well.

After finishing DmC Devil May Cry and Journey this finally seemed like a logical choice to play next. I'm through what I guess you could call the first mission (turned on the CCTV cameras, fought off the first horde).

I am terrible at this game! I'm on my third survivor

It makes a ton of smart uses of the Wii U Gamepad. I love the scanning, love that you don't need to point the pad at the screen to move it. That point of decision, eat a candy bar out of the bag or just take your chances swinging at two zombies, it really provides a sense of tension that some other survival games don't provide.

I really like ZombiU. I think I need to adjust the contrast on my TV so things aren't QUITE so dark (even with the flashlight on) but other than that it seems like a really competent survival horror game. ...except for the framerate. It's definitely playable but the framerate's low enough to be distracting and the right thumbstick feels like it's digital rather than analog.

ZombiU really surprised me. Make sure you friend a bunch of us up so you can murder us in-game and steal our stuff!

I still plan to play the permadeath mode and see how far I can get.

I hadn't been able to put my finger on the right stick's issue and that's probably the answer. Used to be a Wii game too, maybe without two sticks...

Maybe that's what they are patching.

Haven't noticed any frame rate issues.

I might just be picky. It doesn't chug or anything, it just isn't always smooth.

All right--ZombiU edition get! Adding all of you crazies to my friend list now
