Sony has some free-to-play games. DC Online and Dust come to mind.

Happy Wars on XBLA was pretty widely publicized as their entry into the F2P realm as well,

According to "industry sources" The Times thinks the PS4 will release at £300 in the UK, which you can compare against the £425 launch price of the PS3.

Official PS4 announcement incoming?

Someone on the shack noted that http://us.playstation.com/ps4 redirects you to the homepage, but http://us.playstation.com/anything_e... redirects you to a 404 page.

Superannuation tweeted today that Sony has registered a pile of domains with variants of PlayStation Cloud. Hmm...

Well that's it, tomorrow is just a big double-down on the Gaikai acquisition.

I'm looking forward to the inevitable display of cut-scenes and PC gameplay tomorrow..

Yeah.

That's going to be interesting, as RPS dubbed last E3 "the E3 of the PC" with all the demos that were showing off a bit too much eyecandy/framerate for current-gen, but I'll be interested to see how that switches around this year. Will presentations be proudly stating "Actual footage from PS4/720", although that's occasionally proven to be BS in the past.

Followed by comparisons to the next Xbox, never mind the fact that we know nothing about it.

Ironic in so much as the average consumer gives smartphone/tablet companies enough money in 3 years to buy the 3 major consoles and both major handhelds twice over

Kotaku's got some more supposed details from the source they say accurately gave them the Orbis and Durango codenames last year.

Bullet points include:

None of this stuff would surprise or excite me, really.

Well, gaikai includes remote playing of games. This would be just streaming, which I'd say is a pretty big deal given how much it's happening in the PC world.

I'm giggling to myself seeing someone spectating some random RPG heavy petting, and then a message popping up "So, whatcha doing?" or "Go for the green alien instead"

I'd love to be able to spectate a game I didn't own. Talk about the next best thing to a demo, you get to see the game in action unedited. Arguably even better than a demo, given how bad some demos of great games can be.

I'm very excited to see what the official word in tomorrow. PS+ to PS World matters nil to me, so long as my subscription carries over and they keep the perks going.

A spectate thing would be awesome! I would love to just spectate a Dark Souls 2 game. I could do that for hours and be entertained.

I can see the appeal for some, but I personally don't have the time to play all the games I want, much less watch someone else.

It's important to remember your PS3 history during this launch period. The 360 came out first, and the PS3 team was demonstrably willing to say almost anything to keep you from buying an XBox. I was fully expecting the president of Sony to claim that he would personally visit each and every gamer that did not buy a 360, and give them a full-body massage.*

And, remember, this is the company that claimed the PS2 was 'real time Toy Story'. Not the PS3, the PS2.

Don't, in other words, get too het up over what they're promising. Sony is remarkably mendacious if they think they can eke out the tiniest of advantages, so wait until you can actually see code running on a physical box, right in front of you -- and maybe even then, check for a wire running to a PC in the back room.

*Happy ending available as DLC.

What in that list sounds outlandish though?

Well, to be fair, it sounds like both the next Xbox and PS4 will be very close to PCs. So at least it will be more honest than the recent rash of PC graphics being used for primarily console marketed titles.

I'm sure.. I expect that both the PS4 and Nextbox will be very capable in the Graphics dept.. 1080P w/60 fps will be doable over time (maybe not the launch titles)

Given the state of PC GPUs, I'd be surprised if they couldn't. If they need to scale to get 1080 I'm wondering what the hell is going on.

I'm just saying I wouldnt be surprised if the initial titles werent 100% optimized.. over time with the real dev kits Developers should have no issues hitting 1080P 60fps.

This. Nothing from the info (as much as leaked info can be trusted) is in any way outlandish. Live game streaming? We've had that for years, just not built-in. XBL Gold-like service to keep the money flowing? Also not shocking, MS proved people will pay an annual fee to be able to play online. PS Eye included? The Eye certainly doesn't cost much to produce at this point, though I'm not sure why Sony would want to include it. Vita features? Almost certainly, at a minimum the same ones we have on PS3. Tablet integration? Also not shocking, you can already do stuff like this with many devices, up to and including your home theater system and window blinds.

I imagine the eye being included is for a kinect like product.

Well, nothing really, because Sony hasn't said anything yet.

The deal to get 15 months of ps+ for the price of 12 ends 3/4/13. It might be wise to grab this deal if the above rumor turns out to be true regarding an Xbox live-like service. I love ps+ already, though... Such a good value currently.

How do you guys feel about the price? $429 and $529 is too pricy for me. Add in $60 for a game and we're looking at over $500 or $600 just to get it up and running. That is very expensive. I am not sure the market is going to support consoles that expensive.
