3DS Catch-all

Lots of good stuff for the 3DS today. I don't have a 3DS yet, but my 10 yo daughter wants one as part of our rewards for chores program that I'm running... so after Easter she's getting one. Hopefully we can take advantage of that free game deal to get Luigi's Mansion and Professor Layton.

She's also looking forward to Animal Crossing, I'm sure she'll be excited to find out it comes out in June.

No idea how long the offer is good for, but if you register a new 3DS XL and a copy of either Pokémon Mystery Dungeon or Luigi's Mansion on Club Nintendo (North America), you'll get your pick of one of these games for free:

  • Super Mario 3D Land
  • Starfox 64
  • Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask
  • Freakyforms Deluxe
  • Art Academy

It's valid for any 3DS XL registered on or after Feb. 14th. So, Blind_Evil, if you haven't registered that new XL yet and plan to get Luigi's Mansion...

Hot damn! I was waiting to register that system until the new Club Nintendo year, but I'll do it early for a free copy of Professor Layton.

Hmm, I didn't realize Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon had online multiplayer. Maybe we can get four people with the game to run up the Scarescraper. Not sure if there's much replay value but I'd like to try it at least once.

Niiiice. New Mario & Luigi, Luigi's Mansion, and DKC are all likely purchases for me. I've never played an Animal Crossing, but I'm pretty interested in seeing what the fuss is about. I also really want to get Fire Emblem sometime soon, and Pokemon for sure this fall.

There are suddenly more 3DS games coming out that I want to play than I'm going to have time/money to afford. Well played, Nintendo...

Woot! Totally in!

GWJer Animal Crossing trading group? :D

Animal Crossing is a day 1 purchase for me. So you have at least 1 other person.

You'll have me too. I'm so in for a Animal Crossing group. This is the main game I've been anticipating.

I've been itching for a life world game like Animal Crossing. Was thinking about just getting harvest moon but you know farming, yuck. However, I did like rune factory. Oh I remember the last time I played animal crossing and someone got mad at me for naming my town hell. Ah those were the good old days.

I wish we'd get London Life or whatever that game turned into.

So I bought and registered a 3DS XL over Christmas. So I can't get in on this offer I take it? Not a huge deal but kind of lame.

No good deed...

I got my XL two weeks ago...

Sticking with my plan of going all-in on the digital purchase route, I cancelled my preorder of Etrian Odyssey IV and will grab it on the e-Shop instead. It's one of those games that I would never end up selling, so no sense in buying it on physical media.

I didn't know that either. I'd be interested in that in April since I'm going to be playing Starcraft II and Bioshock: Infinite in March.

Do you know if it provides voice chat?

I'm also planning to get Etrian Odyssey on the eShop, but before I do, I need to get a new SD card. The 2 GB card that came with the system is all filled up!

Between games already released and upcoming games, I'm pushing nearly 20 retail games I want to buy or am strongly considering buying. It's insane. (And before anyone asks, half of them are third-party. ;))

How many of those aren't Atlus? (Atlus is the biggest 3rd party in my Wii collection)

Best Buy has Pokemon B&W 2, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Kid Icarus: Uprising, and Paper Mario Sticker Star on sale for $14.99 each. I was able to purchase them for pick up in store because they are sold out online.

Seven: Resident Evil: Revelations and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Capcom); Unchained Blades and Rune Factory 4 (XSEED); Project X Zone (Namco); Virtue's Last Reward (Aksys); Castlevania: Mirror of Fate (Konami). The first four are "must buy" games for me; the second three I'm still unsure about.

Paper Mario is actually $19.99, not $14.99. I still bit though, it's never gonna be that low again. Ever.

EDIT: Also bit on a copy of White 2 to (possibly) e-gift later. That's another one that's never gonna be that low again. Hell, Pearl and Diamond are still going for full price most places.

I think I need to hit the local best buy on the way home today.

Sweet deals! I bought Professor Layton, but I'll have to go pick it up - only one BB had any stock within 30 miles, and the one that did is a 30 minute ride.

.... >_<

Star Fox 64 it is!

When you get a copy of Star Fox (maybe while trying to buy a copy of something else that's on sale), can I have your Star Fox code?

For those of you who are into Monster Hunter, Amazon is giving a $20 discount if you purchase both the WiiU and 3DS games in the same order.

Everyone in my house has some sort of DS system. We'e now many dollars shorter but many Pokemons richer. Thank you.

Ok let's see if this works. My friend code:

Also having played half way through New Super Mario Bros. 2, I am now convinced that the Mushroom Kingdom's economy is based on Peach getting kidnapped and Mario robbing the place blind while rescuing her.

Cross-posting from deals thread:

3DS XL at Newegg for $169.99. Might be a better deal that the recent Best Buy one if Newegg doesn't charge you taxes. Promo codes, but they are generic. Possible you have to be signed up for their newsletter to use them, but you should be already after all the deals for years. :p

Don't forget that if you get one of those XLs, register it on Club Nintendo, then register either Pokémon Mystery Dungeon or Luigi's Mansion, you get a free digital version of Mario 3D Land, the new Professor Layton, or Star Fox 64.

(Alternatively, if you don't give a flip about Club Nintendo, I'm happy to launder your registration codes for the coins and send you the download code for your free game.)

Goddamn, whoever's in charge of the designs on these special-edition 3DS units is getting really good at it. Shin Megami Tensei IV XL:

I pretty seriously doubt this'll come stateside and I'm glad, because I am so enamored with black and white together as an aesthetic that I might exercise my poor impulse control at some point.

Wait it's an XL?!

Oh man... can you import and still use it in the US online store?

I don't think so. Carts are region locked too.

Drool... so gorgeous. The nicest looking NA one is the Fire Emblem one, but it's only a 3DS regular, not XL. Some people have been known to import them, and then transplant the case to their north american unit... just thought I'd put that idea out there...
