Buy something from here and have it sent to him, or just send him there to buy it himself.

It would be great if you could make a fake facebook account and then spam the wall with that.

Oh that's definitely getting a mention now

So being a parent is a pretty wild ride. Our daughter, Norah, was born last Wednesday, and it's been a hell of a week.

Congrats! Two days older than my new little girl. New babies truly bring out the ability to do way too much on way too little sleep, but they are worth it for the few fleeting moments of bliss when they are sleeping on your chest.

Quesadillas made with home-made tortillas. Delicious.

Posted about beards on Facebook. Friend complained that he's 30 and still can't grow one.

Now all my other friends are posting pictures of themselves with beards. It's like he's being shamed. Beard shamed.

Today is a good day.

So apparently back in 2008 I bought the album Hello Mister by the band Priestess. I must have gotten it as a gift for someone, I don't recall. The reason I mention this is that I got an email telling me I had a free mp3 version of the album available for me on the Amazon Cloud Player. So... free music is cool.

Just got a bunch of new comics gifted to me by a kind soul. Can't wait to dig in to them!

with all due respect, f*ck Star Wars. What I’d like to do with the Star Wars universe is pull the plug on it. We don’t need any more Star Wars, we need something that does what Star Wars did — create something new out of old elements, something vibrant, stylish, gripping, alien and familiar, packed with more ideas than you could understand and more images than you could look at. We need more real science fiction, not the comforting domesticity of this nostalgic tranquilizer, this warmed-over buffet of flaccid fan-service. I never want to make, or play, another game or see another movie, cartoon, or lunch box set in that desiccated husk of a universe.

We did. Fox cancelled it.

Really? In 36 years, sci-fi was only capable of sh*tting out one more original idea?

But I'll assume you're being rhetorical, Commander, for your sake. Alien, Babylon Five, Farscape, and even Lexx all immediately spring to my poorly-informed mind (and only one of those has yet been bled to death!).

On that note, however, in that Wired article I read from two different interviewees:

It would kind of be like Serenity or Firefly but in a Star Wars universe.

and

Imagine Red Dead Redemption, Firefly, and Sid Meier’s Pirates! all rolled into one.

And my only thought was "Oh Christ".

The world's been going downhill for all of recorded history. This is just more of the same.

My girlfriend finally comes home from Baker Lake tomorrow but for some reason, the stars aligned tonight and the normally sh*t satellite Internet up there worked well enough for us to use video Skype. She asked if she could see the puppy so I called Riley over and showed him Mom on my laptop. I wish beyond wishing that I could have been filming that as it was the most awesome thing ever. He ran over, stopped cold in front of the screen looked at her, did that uber cute thing where he tilts his head sideways, then my girlfriend said "Hi Riley!" and he freaked OUT! Started running around the basement like he was on meth for about 15 seconds, then came back to the laptop, stared until she talked again, then it repeated itself. This went on for about 2 minutes and had us both in stitches. I can't wait to see his reaction when she actually comes home tomorrow.

Also, my girlfriend finally comes home tomorrow! We're celebrating Valentine's Day, her birthday and our anniversary as they all fall within about 3 days of each other by basically eating out at all our favourite restaurants over the weekend, which we can actually afford this month due to her per diems from the trip and two huge freelance jobs I have in the next couple of weeks. Going to throw my diet to Hell but I don't care!

Finally figured out the name of a show I watched back in high school. It only lasted one season, and in fact five of the episodes never even aired. Good news is... it's available on DVD. I didn't even realize Heath Ledger had been the main character in it until now.

The best thing that could have happened to Star Wars would have been for it to go the way of The Lord of the Rings: for the original creator to leave it alone, in whatever state, and for the numberless hacks and subpar creators to be forced to knock off the original rather than add to it. Star Wars now is what would have happened to The Lord of the Rings if Dungeons & Dragons and its spawn had been an official extension of the universe instead of a shameless rip-off.

I think I remember seeing that pop up on my recommendations in Netflix IW, though now it looks to only be available on disc.

2013 Si Swimsuit issue.

The last interesting space opera sci if show I saw was Bodacious Space Pirates. It was very interesting, but could use a lot of polish.

I had that awesome nostalgic burst with Mr. Belvedere, though it was when I was in elementary school/junior high. Amazon just recently sent me a note telling me the DVD was available. That program was a family show that whipped some serious ass.

Modern technology. Having your family and friends scattered to the 4 corners of the globe sucks. Complicates reunions something fierce. Being able to message them all easily and on-the-go with WhatsApp is a godsend.

Finishing a book on an e-reader and without getting up or stopping jump back into another awesome story.

They still have the SI Swimsuit issue? Made me think of this:

Can we set a precedent for putting the alt-text of xckd strips into a spoiler below the image?

Also, every now and then it's nice to put on a jacket, enjoy an ounce of single-malt at the hall's bar, and pretend to be classier than I really am.

Used to love that show when I was little! I remember it had a killer theme song too. Oh the memories:
