Interesting Kickstarter Catch-All

There should be a "Remind Me" button on the page (usually underneath the banner image/video for the project), which will trigger a reminder email when the drive has 48 hours remaining. It's really subtle unfortunately.

I'll second that. It also doesn't help that they did a slight refresh a few months ago and moved the remind feature.

I even put together a mockup and tweeted it at them, which put a reminder UNDER the manage pledge, or in a more prominent space

At the Gates. New joint by Jon Shafer (Civ V; Elemental: Fallen Enchantress).

At the Gates is an empire builder similar to Sid Meier's Civilization. Starting with a small tribe, you must explore the world, exploit its scarce resources, and eliminate or outsmart potential enemies. The game starts simple but grows in complexity until you command a mighty economic and military powerhouse.

Over the course of a single game your tribe will migrate to more lush and bountiful lands, conquer and barter with other clans, work alongside the Romans, learn from them, and finally destroy them. Along the way, you'll need to master the art of war and craft cunning plans to strengthen your kingdom - all while enduring the worst mother nature can throw at you!

I know one of the designers, but haven't had a chance to play it. By all accounts it is good fun.

I'm interested, but $45 for a card game is way too much.

That's not an uncommon price for card games at all. Very reasonable.

Went to BGG to check and you're right. Perhaps that why I own very few games like this. $45 for 200 cards, some plastic coins and few card stands is way too much. For me.

Where have I heard of this before...? I just heard some people talking about it... Ah, well, it'll come to me.

You're not really just paying for the bits, you're paying for the game's creation (i.e. wages for the designers/testers).

This is actually an interesting article on the costs of printing small run board games: http://penny-arcade.com/report/edito...

The Wanderer posted this on twitter, damn him.

Laser cut terrain for Space Hulk. Drool.

Jaw meet floor.

I really like the look of this one: Death, Inc.

Why are they charging so much for a car? It's just a pile of metal! I can buy metal at the scrapyard for pennies!

and there goes two hundred dollars.

I know quite a few people who work here. It's a super talented group, and it's a really small studio trying to tell stories in a lot of different ways. They're also one of the few animation / game companies that aren't in California, so thumbs up for that.

Oh yeah, the game looks pretty cool too.

This looks awesome! I'm always looking to throw money at Kickstarter, this might be a $100 level for me. 2015 though .. ugh. My patience is not something I consider a strong point.

I completely forgot that that was to drop on the first. Good bye money!
EDIT: For those interested even a little, some of the folks designing this were a part of the Little Big Planet team. As an ENORMOUS fan of the LBP games, I really hope it works out, plus gameplay looks to be a blast.
EDIT2: Video Game High School Season 2 is nearly kicked (92%) but needs just a little push over the weekend. After seeing the special effects and story of the first one I think season 2 will be good now that they have a little more experience writing for the show. If you haven't seen Season 1, check it out.

Yeah, the studio was started by some graduates of the school that I'm going to and they hire a lot from here. I met one of the founders and he's a super nice guy. Everyone there is a really talented artist. I'm so glad that they got the recognition they did at the Oscars, and they continue to find new and interesting ways to tell stories.

I really hope this one gets funded.

Dreamfall Chapters, the Dreamfall/Longest Journey sequel is finally up - http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/redthread/dreamfall-chapters-the-longest-journey.

Oops. Double post.

Instantly pitched in for the $110 tier and I'll probably upgrade that if I get a good amount of freelance work this month. The Longest Journey is still my favourite game of all time and I've been craving another installment in the series for years. Can't wait!

So apparently this happened. I'm sure there's nothing significant about this at all...

Link to Asylum! which is the game above. The 7 minute video makes this seem like it's going to be a great game!

I really need to stop checking this thread, I want to pledge toward everything

The image is a link. And I've plugged the Kickstarter in the Adventure Gaming thread, but I guess I should have pluged it here too.

Asylum is by Agustín Cordes, the guy who did the adventure game Scratches, one of the best horror adventure games out there. Asylum looks to be even better. Look at the Kickstarter and back it!

And yeah. I held off for a long time but once I started Kickstarting I've spent way too much money this way. In fact, I started off at the $15 level for Asylum then later bumped it up to $30. I really want to see this.

It's on Steam Greenlight too. Go vote for it.

Oops! That's what I get for not mousing over images

Wondermark/Kris Straub's Machine of Death card game.

The video is not quite enough to show how the game plays, but the basic concept seems sound. That is, you use your cards to make up a silly assassination plot for your target to match their predicted method of death.

I just wanted to report back with a follow-up to the successful TGT wallet Kickstarter that ended in November last year.

I received mine the week before Christmas, and it's been an absolute dream of a wallet. It fits all of my cards (8) perfectly as well as 4-5 bills folded twice (more will fit, but not as well as I'd like). I don't even notice it in my back pocket when I'm sitting at my desk or driving my car... with my previous wallet I would get uncomfortable enough to take it out of my pocket. In fact, the TGT wallet is so discrete that I've almost put it through the wash a few times by forgetting that it was ever in my jeans at all.

If you didn't get in on the Kickstarter, you can buy one here: Tight Store

Highly recommended.

Drumroll Agricola meets the circus

Euro-style worker placement board game that was released at Spiel 2011, and the Kickstarter is to get a reprint setup, get the game brought to the North America, and add in a few extra cards.

$50 for the game, and all the promos. $79 to include the mini-expansions and a few more bonuses.

Jon Shafer actually created a thread around here about the game. The Kickstarter page also contains a rather interesting and open discussion about Civ V. It's basically a post mortem.

I was looking through the "top trending" page on kickstarter and saw this in the top six.

Busty Barbarian Bimbos

A lighthearted fantasy roleplaying game wherein the players take on the role of the pin-up girls from fantasy artwork.

We should get the crew to do a community lets play

Oh, someone rediscovered Macho Women With Guns

I'm not sure if I should be ashamed or proud of this one :/

In the right light, I can see it being empowering to women. But in the wrong light, I can see it just being a mockery of all the progress that has been made over the last half century.

Well you can look at it a bunch of ways. Lot of things stick barely dressed women on the cover in order to sell more copies even if that's the one and only representation they get. RPGs are no exception to this, but at least this RPG makes the women the characters in an adventure. I actually talked a little with the guy running this and it turns out the ruleset was made by volunteers in their spare time and is available for free. The kickstarter is a drive to release the rules "properly" in book format with nice commissioned art. Seems harmless enough.

...and it's already overfunded by 40%.

The expanded version is, in my opinion, a great deal. I have not played this, but know many who have and consider it the best themed worker placement game out of the broad pack. I backed it.
