Playstation 4 Games Catch-All

By the by, the Final Fantasy sale is active, folks. I'm picking up FFIV: Complete Collection and FFV. Already own VI on Wii, VII-IX on PSN. They'd have to pay me to play FFI and II again.

And Crisis Core is totally rad. I don't think I'd call it better overall than VII, but it's surprisingly good.

The problem with the GBA versions, so I understand, is the GBA sound chip isn't as good as what's in the SNES so the music isn't as good.

Ah true, I guess I chalked that up to the crappy GBA speakers and not the actual audio, but it does sound worse.

The Chrono Trigger debate I recall being had in another thread, possibly the CT one. I didn't think the bonus content was great, but I also don't think it detracts from the game, since it can be completely ignored. It was all the other additions (bestiary, log of what endings you'd seen, music player) that really made the DS version for me. That and they used the touch screen really well.

Hmm, maybe I'll toss $5 down on one of V or VI and see if the load times are as bad as I remember.

Just noticed the Dark Souls DLC is on sale, 50% off. Bought!

Which one was the one that came out with a different number than in Japan? My head wants to tell me its 3......or 6..... it was the favorite of my childhood but don't remember which one it was.

Yeah, there's a Namco Bandai sale going on right now too. Dark Souls DLC is on sale, as is Katamari Vita, and other stuff nobody cares about. Well, maybe Ridge Racer.

Final Fantasy VI was released as Final Fantasy 3 on the SNES in the US. It's the one with the opera house. And Cid.

I am buying the hell out of Noby Noby Boy.

Final Fantasy VI was released as Final Fantasy III for SNES, and Final Fantasy IV was released as Final Fantasy II for SNES.

Ooohhh goody. so I need to buy VI

Son of a...

Could have waited instead of double-dipping for PC version.

Maybe I'll buy it for PS3 too?

So I have never played VI or IX...I tried VII during the ps2 generation and got too distracted by the bad jaggies. I disliked VIII. I enjoyed Chrono Trigger. I loved the Legend of Dragoon too(non-square I know, but old school rpg).

I keep reading that VI is still one of the best games ever... So with my huge backlog of games I currently have, do you think I should I add one or both of these to my stack? I'm currently consumed by Ni No Kuni

Not sure if joking...

Has anyone rented movies through PSN? Are they streamed, or downloaded?

I think they can be either one, but either way you only have either 24 or 48 hours to watch it once you first hit the play button.

OK thanks. As a cable free household, there is the odd movie that I can't get on Netflix.

I'm playing through the DS version of FFIV on my iphone at the moment, and it's pretty great. Not the best ever, but definitly fun and worth it. Especially since FFIV is one of the FFs that I never got around to finishing on the SNES.

Does Guardians of Middle Earth have single console MP?

Dissidia is surprisingly good, and I usually hate any of the Square games made in the past 5 years. I'm looking at you, anything Kingdom Hearts after II.

Hooray! More people playing Dissidia. Now I'm extra sad the game doesn't have online play.

Looks like we got Quantum Conundrum as an instant game collection title. Pleasantly surprised after I played about 2 hours worth of it. I have to say it's pretty good, with one exception: the floaty, slippery first-person platforming.

Charming game, though. Made by the creator of Portal.

I still have yet to fire up GoME, but it sounds like a casual MOBA-style game. Having never tried that genre, I'm excited to get my feet wet with it.

Doh, that sucks. I tried FF6 on Vita, and indeed the load times are lessened from playing the game on CD on PSOne. I think I could handle this. Not until I'm done with Persona 4 Golden though.

Yup. I'm probably going to give FFIX a go when I get the chance (read: after I beat P4G, and maybe after I beat an NG+)

I think we've had Quantum Conundrum for a while now.. I really need to try it.
Just installing my new 320gb hard drive

Definitely do that. It's a criminally underrated game.

I've watched over my wife's shoulder as she's played it, just never got around to it.

<--- Hugely bummed that US doesn't get Sleeping Dogs this update. I have plenty to play from what I downloaded when I signed up but this update strikes me as lackluster. I'll give GoME a try but I'd much rather have Sleeping Dogs and F1 Stars.

I'm pretty gutted that the US gets Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus on the Vita and the EU get Wipeout and Lumines woooooooo :P. Does anyone know why they don't/can't just release the same free games/content worldwide?

Licensing. Different deals get signed at different times with different markets. Also, demand may be perceived/actually be different in different markets (e.g., FIFA's popularity outside the US, vs. FIFA's popularity within the US)

Wow, Lumines would be awesome. We did already get Wipeout I think? Hope we get Lumines at some point in the future though.

I posted this originally in the VG Deald thread, guess I forgot to cross post here. Currently Sony is offering $50 PSN + a free year of PS+ if you get a PlayStation credit card (no annual fee), sign up to Sony Rewards (no cost), and make a purchase: http://www.sonycard.com/en/gateway/?...

As odd as it is to promote a CC, it's a great deal. I received the card and was told the purchase only has to be over $1, can be for any item (not just Sony related of course), and the $50 and PS+ will show up in a month or two. For anyone else looking for a good deal and willing at least temporarily open a line of credit, it's a pretty sweet deal.

As a follow-up, some real life experience to encourage others to take the plunge into a great deal:

I got the card within 3 weeks of applying. I made a small purchase (bought a pizza) and called customer service. I was told it would take 1 to 2 billing cycles for my coupon codes to arrive, and I received a couple of accounts of how they would get to me. Within a week of my purchase I got my codes. I just redeemed both of my codes tonight.

So, for the price of a pizza I got $50 and a year of PS+. My plan is to apply that $50 towards 15 months of PS+ (a current deal). That'll bring it to 27 months of PS+ for the price of a pizza.

I just want to go on record as saying I fully support Demonbox's new pizza-based currency system.

No f*cking way am I paying 4 sicilians for a bigger Vita memory card. No sir.
