Path of Exile catch-all

This game is beginning to eat my brain. Love it.

Just keep gems in your stash, along with rares and stuff that's useful for starters. As far as the "skill tree" goes, you'll have a mix of benefits all through your leveling - "passives" like Intelligence or Dex, "actives" like Minions, and the majority would be, I guess, enhancements - additions to existing abilities, like more damage with certain weapons, faster mana regen, all sorts of goodies.

I got a Item Rarity gem for kills from mobs (30%). Accidentally sold it 10 minutes later. Today I just reached Act 2 on the second difficulty with my templar. Loving it so far. But I do hope they revamp the environments, all the acts are pretty bland. The good thing is you don't spend too much time in either of them so it isn't a big of a problem.

Agreed. I put $20 into the tip jar for a set of premium stash tabs and I do not regret that move one bit. I am looking forward to Act 4 and beyond!

Well I got as far as installing the game and updating it completely. Next step is logging on. Working from 6 am to 11 pm is cutting in to my PoE experiment time.

Steam me up Scotty! (please, my steam username is Squee9)

There is this fellow, Kripparrian, a pro-gamer/YouTube star of some repute who is very fond of PoE and has done many videos digging into the mechanics, economy, high-level play... everything. As I'm still very much a puppy in terms of my character progression a lot of the finer points are lost on me right now but those of you who are hitting Cruel, Merciless, Hardcore league or what have you should get some value from his analysis.

Makes for a long day at work! Sent you an invite for our Steam group as well

What's your in-game name, Squee?

Hey this is pretty neat. Its a google doc I found on the forums that lists all of the magic/rare item prefixes and suffixes and what items they can apply too.

PoE Item Compendium

I'm nowhere near the point where I would want to start crafting stuff, but it looks useful.

Man, I wish PoE had D3's tight combat engine. Everything about PoE is clicking for me except the combat...

The devs said they will be adding an item to the shop in a month or so called "Additional Gore". That will put things probably a bit more over the top but not sure it will be on D3's level. Regardless, it will still be cool to have

And WOW to a $90 scorpion pet. The scorp starts at $3 so I guess they have it out there to cater to all types of incomes.

Agreed, but I do find the idea of buying 6 additional stash tabs very tempting for $20. If nothing else other than to put money in the tip jar for the game play I've enjoyed so far for free.

If you're buying stash slots, buy the ones you can rename and change colour of. Not that much more in terms of cost but a lot more helpful in the end.

Fedora conned me into starting this. Please find MrCrinkle online and help him kill the Merveil boss, because he hasn't a prayer of doing it alone.

I'll look you up this weekend! Even if you've buried Merveil it will be good to go a'loot huntin'. I can try to level up my Marauder and/or Ranger

Finally made it to the Forest! Interesting to see what's next.

I forgot I got this last year. Picking it back up for casual play. I rolled a Templar this morning knowing very very little about how to play. Mashed some drowned dudes before having to stop to do kid taxiing. Username is tboon.

I have been playing this for a long, long time now. It is my personal sequel to D2 (I consider D3 to be its own game). Be happy to answer any questions etc...

For me, this is D2 and Titan Quest all rolled up in a neat bundle and advanced into the current day. Grinding Gears has a hit on their hands.

We should lobby for a section on the GWJ Vent server.

Just finished up the first difficulty level with my 37 marauder. GREAT FUN!!! Looking forward to my 2nd playthrough but unfortunately can't spend more time with the game until later tonight

When you start off into the 2nd difficulty, check the map - the levels of the initial areas are not what you might expect. There is a 3 or 4 level leap in difficulty between the Mud Flats (area with the 3 rhoa nests) and the Fetid Pools (quest side area, kill all the things mission). While my 36 Marauder breezed through the flats, the pools were a rude shock. Remember the load screen tip warning that side areas in non-normal difficulty are much harder? I didn't.

I am all for that or pick one that is never used anymore

Anyone around to add me to the steam group? Link in sig.

Nice, I'll have to check that. I played through the first area to get to town and that was lvl 33. I'll keep an eye out for the level change. I also want to get more into trading as I didn't do much the first playthrough. Trade is so spammy I'm not sure I can do that and play at the same time. Might have to dedicate some time to figuring stuff out.

Squee9 is my account name. TheQueenSquee is my ranger I'm testing the game out with. Level 5 but hella fun so far! I'll start my main marauder once I get the hang of this game, and read up on how to optimize these systems.
