Bioshock Infinite Catch-All

It would be nice to have Elizabeth on the standard box art, but I'll take her outfit redesign as a positive step for gaming maturity. Her sailor dress in the trailer felt much less like pandering than the other dress.

I suspect her outfit will change during the game. There's some really odd stuff going on with all this timey wimey business. I do not expect her to be wearing only the bosom dress or the sailor dress the entire game.

What is box art? Is that what they show on the Steam store page? /snark

Big picture mode

First 5 minutes of the game. Do I need to say spoilers are in that link?

Spoiler:

So Booker is a moron? Who in their right mind would keep going in that horror lighthouse? And who would be stupid enough to sit in a chair with obvious cuffs on it?

In response to spoilered intro

Spoiler:

I have to agree with you farley on all accounts. I presume we will learn his motivations as we play the game. ie how bad the debt he owes if and to whom."Property of Booker Dewitt 7th Calvary, wounded knee" The wounded knee battle took place in 1890, according to the wika he was born roughly around 1875 and that would mean he was 15 at the time of the battle. If the wika age is correct he will be 37 at the time he goes out to the light house. - For some reason knowing the protagonist age is interesting. It also will determine the level of wincing during high impact situations

I ran across an interview posted yesterday about the difference between the PC & console versions.
Interview with Technical Direction Chris Kline
BioShock Infinite: The PC Version Difference
Irrational explains what it’s doing to ensure the PC version stands out.

A few highlights that caught my eye:
My contribution was the in-game FOV adjustment control.
The "Windowed Fullscreen" display mode is there because Doug Marien prefers to play that way and advocated for it.
The UI team fought to make sure that their UI was mouse-friendly, displayed properly in higher resolutions, and had input bindings that changed instantly when you switched from controller to keyboard.

Sweet!

Will make PLP Eyefinity users happy...despite the obvious drawback of no Crossfire/SLI support you do gain the ability to stretch your window across those 3 screens properly.

It is nice to know that some devs still care about PC's. Thanks PC strike team.

One little nicety I've always appreciated is when tutorial dialogs show the actual key bind - even if it's been remapped. That tells me that the devs spent time thinking about their ui.

This should be a standard across all games now, including switching of on screen prompts.

The thing is, they did it in 2007 as well. It really shows up which companies just can't be bothered to put that care and attention in and which games are just kicked out the door.

If you're like me and don't want to see any more gameplay footage so you can go into the game as "fresh" as possible, this video is for you.

There's a technical specifications Q&A on the site right now.

Of important note to me is that they confirmed that the DRM on the PC version will be Steamworks. As someone who had numerous issues with Bioshock 2 due to GFW Live issues, I sigh in relief at that news.

Using Steamworks instead of GFWL is always a good decision. Glad to hear it.

So glad to hear about Windowed Fullscreen and the key bindings. I'm eagerly anticipating this, and my Songbird statue.

I'm on gameplay-footage blackout, but for those who aren't, here's a new trailer.

Holy sh*t that looks good.

Yep, seriously can't wait for this one.

I want to watch but must stay strong!

Thanks for the video link Meatman! I loved that little pan over the sky at the very end.

It might be a sad commentary on expectations for modern PC games, but this tidbit from the FAQ gave me a little jolt of happiness as well; no always-online req verified!

Q: Will it support Steam offline mode?
Chris Kline: Steam Offline Mode is supported.

I was at Toysrus with my son today and they had the 2 new Bioshock Infinite figures, Elizabeth and Boys of silence. I got one of each.

Bioshock never really clicked for me, I've put about 12 hours into across a couple of attempts and just never felt the magic.

That said, these Truth From Fiction film reels have gotten me really interested in Bioshock Infinite.

I'm surprised that there haven't been many good deals for the game- like we often see for AAA releases. I'm guessing it's because they feel they don't need to offer incentives, and if that's so then I think they may be right. I anticipate this will sell well but it could just be that I'm a part of this bubble that's been looking forward to this for a long time.

I've got keys incoming for this and Tomb Raider from buying a graphics card, but it's still a month out. I've seen TR for less than £20 already, and that's another 2 and a half weeks away.

Gone gold: http://irrationalgames.com/insider/p...

Release the game!

...Preload.

...Kraken?

Please?

Now to see if I can hunt down any Ma & Pa stores in my area notorious for selling games early. They'll definitely have shipments of that...wait, no, I'll be at PAX.

Nevermind.

The proper solution is to break into Irrational's office while you're in town.

Wow, I wonder if they could have made their original ship date?

I refuse to pre-purchase this game a month early... That doesn't mean I don't desperately want to.
