Capcom - Remember Me - June 2013

Gameplay looks alright, but that voice acting...man that is bad.

Hrm. That said "360/PS3", which makes me sad. I don't want to have to dust off the 360 again.

Capcom themselves still have it listed for all 3 platforms. It might be that VG247 is more console oriented.

Oh, good!

Is that May release estimate at all accurate? Seems awfully soon.

Watched the first two trailers, and haven't watched any others. That's enough to put me on media blackout. I'm officially excited for this game.

The scenario to make the guy kill himself is disturbing, though I wonder if we'd at all be bothered by it if it was a simple "Eliminate the target" via traditional means. At the same time, while changing his memory to something so tragic was sad, his reaction ("You'll never take me alive!") felt poorly written.

Still, the character's reactions speak enough to me that this stuff isn't supposed to be brushed off, but something you don't like doing and is supposed to humanize the people whose memories you access. Which should probably help with the idea of the setting, which is all about how nothing is private any longer once someone can access your memories.

Yep, this'll be a Day One.

It's apparently been in development for 4 years.

You comment does make me think though that the length of time they're hyping a game is from the consumer standpoint almost as important as a game having 'enough' development time, as though if they don't spend enough time hyping it then the game isn't fully hyped and will be poor. Or perhaps there's a certain amount of buy-in, and a lack of hype will lead to underachieving at sales (as though there's some 'right' level it's meant to sell) which affects someone who is only invested in playing and enjoying their one copy.

Reading an awful lot in there, eh? It's not that I'm worried about the quality or how long it's been cooking.

I asked because Amazon has a placeholder date up of June 30th and Gamestop doesn't have it listed at all. Generally if a game's date is solid they will start the preorder marketing blitz, regardless of how far from release. It's not how things normally go, except with Nintendo, and that makes me think it won't be out til well after May.

Capcom don't really seem to be so big on their titles when it's not Street Fight, Resident Evil, etc. For example I'm kind of aware of Dragon's Dogma, but it wasn't hyped to high heavens, it just seems to be the way Capcom do things rather than a reflection on a particular game. That, and we're 3-ish months away from release.

Who cares if it gets delayed anyway, it's hardly as though I have to build a schedule around game releases.

I think that's going to change, seeing as none of the Resident Evil games met sales expectations last year but Dragon's Dogma exceeded them. They've stated they want to focus more on new IP, and stated they aren't diving back into the well for older franchises like Dino Crisis (because clearly no one wants a game where dinosaurs are all over the place, nooooooo).

Tagging because cyberpunk anything is my jam.

June 4th release date:

Nice trailer, way to help us "remember" the game. Sorry. Low hanging fruit.

The combat reminds me a bit of Oni, as does the person talking to you over the radio. Looks good, hope it is.

Vindication! Coming June 4th

So Capcom is releasing stuff I want to play in March (Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate), April (Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen), and now...June. Gives me a little more time, I guess.

I've gotten so used to games being announced five years before they come out... This just feels wrong. But awesome.

Just in time for me birfday!

Me too!

Just discovered this. Now very much on my radar. Looks good!

new trailer:

Is it just me or has seeing that lame combat-centric video just turned other people off of this game as well?

My interest isn't often swayed one way or the other by a single trailer, especially when everything else has suggested the game is about much more.

Having played it and going on media blackout so I don't know what that video shows, I can assure that the combat is solid.

Well, the basics are solid.

Maybe I will watch that video.

I think the problem is that I don't really want another "brawler"...

This entire game is news to me as the first point of discovery was seeing the preorder page on Steam.

Certainly looks interesting, I'll have to keep it on my radar for when it releases, being made by Capcom makes me a smudge nervous overall.

Something that made me raise an eyebrow was 3 fighting moves as a preorder bonus/DLC. I'm sure it's probably not essential, but still, it's better than chopping out bits of the story.

Fair to point out that they are publishing this title, not developing it.
