GWJ 360ers: trueachievements.com!

I spent last night revisiting Brink. I'm just about 1 level away from the "Time to start a new character" cheevo so that'll net us a nice 200 point gain.

While we're on the subject Dandies, do we have any long term hopes and dreams we want dashed regarding the GTASC, or are we just living the dream of not being week 1 eliminated? ;)

As I recall, Bonus said he wanted the Dandies to make it past his birthday since we were eliminated around then last year. While he isn't on the B team this year, I'd still like to honor the spirit of that wish.

Checking back through my files, I made the Dandy Epitaph on the date listed in the post, so I'm guessing if we make it through to March, then we truly have met and exceeded his every wish and desire (purple dildo bats notwithstanding).

Flailing in front of the screen on Thursday it is... FOR BONUS!!!!!!!!

I'm under no illusions that without your efforts, we'd be long gone already

It does seem like competition is stiffer this year - I seem to remember that we didn't start being in danger of elimination until later on last year, but maybe that's my booze-addled memory failing me.

If we go out this week, I'll be OK with that - making it out of January was Goal#1 for me. If we make it into March, I feel like we'll have acquitted ourselves admirably. If we make it into Q2 (i.e. April), I feel like we'll have done amazingly. To make it beyond that, I suspect that one or more of us will need to become a Gamer Without A Job.

Here's hoping I'm going to be on strike for a couple of weeks! Not getting paid would suck, but having some self-indulgent time to do nothing other than play and run would be delightful!

My problem is that despite fully intending to focus on my 360 pile, I keep getting sucked in PC games, and when I sit down to play a 360 game, it is typically for shorter sessions. Part of that is due to us hiding from the new roommates (why we thought getting roommates was a good idea I don't know: they're decent enough but we like our personal space too much) and while the PS3 is in the bedroom, the 360 is in the living room. We are actually planning to buy a second 360 for the bedroom next payday, so I may start putting points up again at that point, if were still in it.

And this is why we need a Kinect Kama Sutra... Just watch out for that "share on Facebook" prompt!

I've been enjoying the comp as a motivator. I don't know why, but I really enjoy the score chase/leaderboard aspect of it, and the stats feed, oh how I love those! (hint hint)

Heh. I doubt we'll set up the Kinect in the bedroom. We don't have the space, and my girlfriend is already convinced the Kinect is watching us.

I always feel it is 'sizing me up' when I turn the console on and it looks me up and down as part of it's startup.

My kinect laughs at me when it does the start up glancing.

One team in the GTASC currently has a -568,000 and a team member that is no longer on TA. BENEFIT FOR THE REST OF US!

Looks like they might have company... Bottom three, looks like bottom two might be exiting?

114 Jehuty Squad -507
115 MSSZ -202,473
117 Melts In Your Mouth -567,790

From what it looks like, 2 of Jehuty Squad are posting negative numbers thanks to a large TA drop on all their Omerta: City of Gangster achievements. The freefall on newer game TA drops are a pretty tough hurdle to overcome if you score all your points in the previous week (as my experience with Kingdom of Amalur taught me during last year's GTASC).

I guess it's a good thing then that I'm only playing games that have been out for a while. My number may be small, but at least the ratios are stable.

Bingo. That is half the reason why I am not firing away on Dead Space 3.

Having three (four?) of the five team members playing SSX last year right on release wound up being pretty painful, but we survived.

Yes but in that case I think it was less about TA drops and more about not wanting to play anything other than SSX.

Well P-Diddies, looks like it might be close again this weekend.

I'm hoping to get in a few hours after work tomorrow, but it's been a sh*t of week in terms of resting for me. Doesn't help that I keep wrestling off my CPAP mask and waking up wrecked! Stupid f*cking motorcycle accident *grumble grumble*

Long story short, we're about 400 off elimination, and 3 or four places above the cut off threshold, as of right now. I'll check in on our progress, and if need be, I'll pop off a few of my FO:3 PC Cheevs to keep the Bonus dream alive!. I don't think I'll need to cash them all in, but I'll check all the same, and make sure we don't get pipped at the post this week.

Enjoy your weekend fellow Parisians and don't sweat it if you can't get to a game. We are the 'in it for sh*ts and giggles' team after all.

Work let out early today thanks to snowmageddon hitting the northeast US, so I was finally able to pop the 200 pt Brink cheevo this morning. We're now 6 places above elimination.

Hopefully I don't lose power this weekend...

And double the elimination score too, nice work!

I've got the evening to game tonight. On the platter are Asura's Wrath (points seem to pop fairly frequently), Mass Effect 3 Omega DLC (should be some in there), and breaking the seal on FFXIII-2, which will likely be low scoring. Might pick up some fast and cheap XBLA points too.

Sounds like you guys have this round covered. I have similar plans for Sunday night Jonman, so that should set us up for the week, if I choose wisely.

Looks like Bonus may get his Birthday Wish after all

The best laid plans.....

So (a) I got distracted by other stuff, so I played a little less than I thought, and (b) Final Fantasy got hold of me and wouldn't let go. Sure, I put nearly 5 hours into it, and thoroughly enjoyed it, but it scored me a measly G30.

Sounds perfect to me. I'll pop upstairs in a few minutes and fire off 500 from FO:3, just to give us some breathing space. I'll check it again in the morning. Elimination is 8am local time for me, and kids will have me up well before then anyways. How I look forward to a future where they appreciate what it means to be 'Sunday morning'...

OK Dandies.

Just dropped 24 cheevs in FO:3 that have netted us 589TA, plus I popped the cherry on Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes (PC) with 7 cheevs for another 105TA.

That puts us at a fairly comfortable 95th spot, with a 1200 point buffer from elimination.

I'll try and check again in the morning, but it's 1am local, so I am expecting some scowling in the morning from MsMonkey. We'll see how that pans out.

FOR BONUS!

Nicely done m0nks. It works out real nice having you out there in your ker-azy time zone. Having the cutoff period be 4pm on a Saturday works awfully for me - the first half of a saturday means I'm usually out and about and unable to be scoring.

That's not what I've heard.

Time for my noob questions I've been using TA for a while now and joined the GWJ group over there. Are we in some kind of completion? I admit I have not read through all 177 pages of this thread but if someone could brief me on what we are doing. I keep seeing this week set to TA or GS.

Thanks in advance and yes I am addicted to achievements.

Welcome to the board! These guys are talking about an outside competition they've joined, where teams compete to put up Gamerscore every week and low-scoring teams get eliminated. None of that stuff applies to you/the rest of us.

The actual leaderboard on TA gets changed every week (total TA, total gamerscore, % complete, whatever) because I couldn't really decide what metric was best when I first set it up, so I swap it up weekly for the sake of variety. And this way Quintin gets to be #1 once a month!

Speaking of which, leaderboard is set to TA ratio this week.

It's been a while, so I should really cull the board of GWJ nonbelievers as well. Anyone care to nominate a TA leaderboard member for nonparticipation / deletion? PM or post.

Thanks for the information. If we start any new challenges around here keep me in mind. I've done a few before using the 360Voice site to track them.
