Questions you want answered.

Ever get in a rut?
Want to play a game, can't play one.
Want to sit down for your hobby, can't start it.
Want to watch a show, can't find the one, or the the one you want you watched already.
Reading a book in the bath, maybe, but hoping to find a rewarding experience from the internet.
Put it off. Eventually have to go to bed.

Is it starting to sound close to depression?

Sounds like me lately.

To all the runners out there, is it dangerous for my Samsung Galaxy S3 when I take it jogging with me?

I'm worried about condensation. It is tucked inside an Otter Box and tucked inside my non-ventilated running sweater (it's cold here). Is the humidity under my clothes a problem for the smartphone?

ALSO: How the holy heck do I get my big-ass Android out of the Otter Box?

Peel the soft outer skin off the case, then stick something sharp in the side to pry the insides open. You should be familiar with the concept.

Anhedonia is one of the diagnostic criteria for depressive disorders. On the other hand, pile-paralysis and generally having a "meh" day occasionally is just life.

Yeah, but I usually don't apply that technique to something I care about. *hugs galaxy*

When I had an Otterbox for my iPhone, it was possible to apply pressure to the screen protector to pop the phone out. Just start at one end to get leverage and it should go.

What's the best protector for a new Ipad? We have an 8 month old so he's going to grab it and it's going to get dropped I'm sure. The Otterbox Defender looks like it'll do the job, but it's just so.... huge.

If you think it is too big that's when you go big. That or buy an otter case.

But I was talking about an Otter case.... you just blew my mind

Yeah, I started working at 4:30 am.
It's hard to get anything started at the end of a day like that.
I read about five pages of Clash of Kings and fell asleep.

There's just something in the brain that says, "this is my time, now I need to have fun with it". Rest is more important.

Might be depression. But I've also seen it happen with lack of sleep, wrong sleeping schedule (stationary jetlag, basically), lack of food, dehydration, too much work/stress, and a few other causes. Basically, making sure you're taking care of yourself can make a huge difference in mood.

Another thing that happens for me personally is that I have to give myself permission to take breaks, or I'll never stop working or thinking about working. So I schedule days and times that are explicitly for reading a book or playing a game and then hold off the rest of the time. I end up actually playing the game and getting the work done.

Where do you guys like to shop for winter coats?

Do you have an REI around? Outdoor stores are good places to go for practical coats. Moosejaw is a great online retailer to get outdoor stuff. They go above and beyond to treat their customers right. It's rather refreshing. You can often get some pretty good deals.

We got my wife a nice Peacoat from the Army Surplus store for about 130. My brother got a similar one a few years ago, the only issue was the buttons needed to be touched up. I went to Burlington Coat Factory last week and saw a lot of nice coats.

Thanks for the advice everyone...

I am really, REALLY not interested in the super bowl, especially so when I saw that the kickoff isn't until 6:30 PM. I told him that I wouldn't stick around for the whole game, but I'd come down for dinner and visit for a while.

Mmm carrots. Good call, Mike.

Here's the catch. Unless you're in with some real hardcore football fans. Like the kind that know the underwear size of the third line tackle, then superbowl parties have nothing to do with the football. If you know enough to be conversational, then it's just another excuse for the party. If you're really really not into football, then there are friends and wives that aren't either and you have the commercials; which are an entertainment extravaganza.

And junk food with beer. How can that go wrong?

**edit** shouldn't have skimmed. I read back.

Be the carrots and celery guy.
On the other actually important issues. Sounds like you understand it. I got nothin' there. I've never had to deal with any real difficulty like that. Best of luck. I may be an optimist, but it sounds good, like you said.

Why is there no spinner feature on mondern controllers? I mean, we have the scroll wheel. And remake Ikari Warriors darn it.

Throughout the day I can pinch my shoulder blades together and my back cracks, is this bad as I've had some people claim?

mooosicle wrote:

I got my last winter coat from Sportsman's Guide about 8 years ago. Next year I think I'll be due for a new one and it will probably be from Duluth Trading Company.

I've had two North Face Denali jackets that I love, probably not the cheapest option but they've held up well and are warm and good to layer with.

Actually, the older of the two I wore for several years and there was nothing wrong with it -- I only replaced it because I wanted a different color >_>

The missus and I are moving into a gorgeous new apartment on March 1st. With it comes the ability to finally own a dog. It's a 1st-floor with nice large living room sliding doors, a patio, and ample running room.

The question: She and I are seriously considering buying a bulldog named "Mister President". Thoughts? Too cute?

As far as I know, no credible studies have ever proven that joint cracking causes any serious harm. Most of the things people say about it causing arthritis or whatever are complete crap.

Demyx wrote:

Of course you have North Face jackets, they're practically standard issue for women in Boston

My latest jacket is a peacoat from Old Navy, which I got in 2004. (Have I really had this jacket for nearly 10 years?) I used to be a leather-only kind of guy, and make up for it with three t-shirts and a sweater. Then I grew up a bit and realized that layering with the right materials is helpful. I do love my peacoat, and it generally does the trick when the weather gets below freezing. I'd certainly want something else if I was going to be spending hours outside below freezing though.

I'm in B.C. now and I want to hang out with goodjers and peoples. Boardgames and beers is what I'm talking about. Anybody game for a future get-together? I would also be up for killing myself and my super-cool wife skiing.

This is true, but unlike most popular women's fashions, they are actually functional and comfy :p

Correct. Most cracking is just fluid. Now, if you get numbness/tingling/pain when you crack, then that's a whole different proposition.

Study on squares.

Your best shot is a hot start and the Ravens trailing 7-14 after 1 quarter. You have fairly poor squares.

Welcome!

I'd be up for boardgames and beers - I'll take a pass on skiing (but would totally say yes to tubing, or snoeshowing).

If you're coming into Vancouver, you and the missus are welcome to crash with me in North Van - it's only a pull out couch, but it's queen sized and pretty comfy. Plus, I'm a bus ride from Grouse, Seymour, and Cypress for various snow-related fun. If we wanted to do a big Goodjer get-together with games, maybe we could all chip and rent the hall at the Fraternal Order of Eagles or something? I could ask what that would cost if there is enough interest. I've seen other gaming groups set up there for Magic and boardgames.

That sounds great. How big a place you got? Can we cram more Goodjers and Goodjer-Friends inside? And this would have to be in the future. Right now we are broke as hell. Apparently it costs money to move to BC. Who knew?

I don't think the Ravems are playing today.
