Hm only remembered them from computer gaming world. Used to love that magazine to pieces, before the internet took that all over. Wasn't as good once you knew everything inside it before weeks ago. Funnily enough on the last month before I decided to unsubscribe they folded. Honestly how much is ign worth in this day and age. *read link* It is not worth that much! Well to me.
So sell 1UP after letting it pretty much die off, then go spend a bunch of money on IGN?
If this happens, it makes no sense.
Welcome to shareholder capitalism! :D
Ziff went bankrupt in 2008, sold off 1up in 2009, was bought by a private equity firm in 2010, and then was sold a few months ago to J2 (the old JFax company). So Ziff isn't really the same company now as it was when it sadly destroyed 1up.
Wait 1up got destroyed, never really read there stuff but since most of them were the former cgw crew (I think) always rooted for them. Also after reading the wiki technically Ziff would get 1up back since ign owns them.

Don't forget that Ziff-Davis originally owned GameSpot too then sold them off, only to start 1UP from scratch when they already had a hit site running.
"Have I ever told you the definition of insanity?"
Well, this is a depressing continuation of the circle of life. Word has it that Ziff has just canned whoever was left at 1UP, along with Gamespy and UGO.

Will IGN continue to blow me away once they're acquired?
Ah, maybe that's what the "doomed to repeat itself" line is about.
Yes; in 3-4 years, Ziff will vomit out IGN again.

There's a very odd symmetry between your avatar and that picture. If Vaas was raising an eyebrow...
Fire bad. - GameGuru
OK, now I'm really creeped out. That was totally unintentional.

I would think the first rule of PR is to ignore forum people, because they vacillate between crazy and liar. - Elysium
Ziff is and always will be Ziff.

So does this impact the Gamespy middleware or was that spun-off into a different company long ago?
Yeah, gamespy with the networking bits is separate from gamespy the, ummm, journalist bits
Aww. I was hoping the Gamespy middleware would vanish off the planet.
Certis: Quintin is both smart and attractive.
Fedaykin98: Good lord, I wouldn't have expected brilliance like that from that nemeslut Quintin Stone!
Yonder: It's weird to say this, but Quintin Stone may be the wisest person here.
Not until I'm done with Borderlands it better not!

Strangely enough I was done with borderlands soon after trying to use gamespy.
