The Elder Scrolls Online Catch-All

The most recent Bethesda podcast is all about the upcoming beta. Looks as though they plan on periodic, scheduled, stress-test beta events featuring specific chunks of content like GW2 did rather than the unrestricted, always-on betas like WoW or Rift or TSW.

Beta keys are a foozle for down the line. I have absolutely no idea how they're handling that stuff, sorry guys.

I'd suggest applying out in the thing on the internet place.

Also he won't be scared off by drooling nerds. To the contrary, I suspect he's hoping for some.

Well, I mean if that would help... here, lemme break out some Listerine first. Might as well be fresh and clean.

I'd like to get more specifics on exploration. We know the pedigree of big open worlds filled with stuff. But I am hoping there will be stuff borrowed and expanded upon from GW2 in regards to things like vistas, skill point challenges, and dynamic events. Now I know ESO doesn't have skill points but that does not mean they have to throw away the hidden cave discovery and fun mini boss challenge at the end.

I like GW2 gathering but I do not like buying stacks of tools and the need to upgrade the tools.

Zonk got hit pretty hard by the Rabbitcon plague.

Doesnt he every year? Or is that you?

I think this was my first time getting infected. It wasn't so bad, really.

Next year make sure everyone washes their hands after they poop.

OOOOOOOoooh.

You can't blame us for trying, right? Wait and see, I guess...

I'm actually hoping for a bit of a GW'ish feel to TESO... I mean, if some things are done well, why hesitate?...

My fiancé just asked me about controller support. She's a huge Oblivion and Skyrim fan, but she's played them both exclusively on the console. Is she going to be able to plug an Xbox controller into her PC and just play ESO, or will I need to hack something together with JoyToKey?

The xbox controller won't work on the pc just like that. But the controllers made for pc by MS do work of course.

The wired Xbox controllers work with Windows out of the box. For the wires ones you need a Bluetooth dongle though I believe.

She plays SWtOR and GW2 with an Xbox controller (save for ground-targeted stuff), so we've pretty much solved the technical side of that. I'm wondering if the game will be designed to be playable with a controller or if we'll have to get creative again.

One reason I mentioned this is because we were talking about the game and she just sort of assumed that she'd be able to play this Elder Scrolls with a controller just like she did the last two. If a game-savvy engineer is assuming controller support, then I'd be willing to bet a significant portion of their audience is.

Some confusion here... the Wired MS Xbox 360 Joysticks work 100% with Windows.. the Wireless MS Xbox 360 Joysticks require the USB Dongle that Microsoft bundles with a Wireless Xbox 360 Controller.. here

http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/...

But once you plug in the USB adapter you can connect any MS Xbox 360 wireless controller.. there is no specific PC 360 wireless Xbox controller

edit.

If you can find the official MS USB dongle sold separately buy it.. I'm wary of the 3rd party ones.

I think he's talking about the game using it, rather than it being purely mouse+keyboard and needing to use a hacky solution to use his preferred input method.

I'm a bit late to this thread... but foozle? Do you just make up words?

"Foozle" is a pretty standard placeholder word for "vaguely undefined thing."

Exactly.

It's too bad there are no Windows drivers for the 360 chat pad—it's a friggin' keyboard; why does it not show up as a keyboard? That'd make playing a MMO pretty easy with a controller. As it is my fiancé has to get creative with key binds and hotbar page swapping.

Here's a related question: will mouselook be the default like Skyrim, or will I have to hold down the right mouse button like I did in every other 3d MMO? I'm tired of holding that thing down 85% of the time while I play.
