Red Dead Redemption Catch-all

It's news to me! Although, clicking through, it seems extremely vague as to when this might happen. At this point, I'm going to hazard a guess that it's next generation.

Not far off the mark, except for the age of the child.

I want RDR2 as much a anyone! Only good thing Rockstar has made since the GTA3 engine games.

I just finished this, finally. I stalled out in Mexico long ago, but decided to push through. It took only a couple nights of play to wrap it up, but I'm so glad I did it. This is on the short list for my favorite ending ever, as I'm sure it is for a lot of people. After finally giving ME3 a spin and being burned by the ending, this was an amazing ride. The folks at Rockstar absolutely nailed it!

Congrats! The game does bog down in Mexico.

Oh, absolutely. You didn't see anyone complaining about that ending.... yet, the ME3 critics had all these insufferable jerks insisting that people who didn't like it should be playing dating sims instead, calling them whiny little crybabies because the end wasn't sunshine and puppies.

Well, neither was RDR's, and it was awesome.

Yup. A game has absolutely succeeded when you actually care about the protagonist as the end credits roll.

Disagree. I remember some people (myself included) being annoyed by the fact that...

Spoiler:

...the "John Marston" ending shoot-out in the barn was far too scripted, especially since you spent the entire game learning how to fight a giant gang of enemies, and the narrative forced you to die. It wasn't as egregious as ME3, though, and it wasn't the culmination of three games (90 hours/$180), so most people who complained just grumbled and moved on.

What's a disk?

It's what you put drinks on.

What's a disk?

What a New Zealander puts his monitor and keyboard on.

Bravo, both of you. Honestly.

Just fired this up this morning for the first time. Just one more objective, then I'll stop...

Hey there GWJango, anyone still have this game? I just picked up the GOTY version with the intent of going back in and doing some MP - anyone interested?

Everyone said, "when you think it's over, it's not over". Can someone post a total spoiler for me? Somehow the very end didn't offer a lot of closure to me.

That was about a year or so ago. Now it's all so foggy that I can't even remember the ending.

I remember not liking the spoiler above a couple of posts.

Spoiler:

I remember thinking, I want to be John Marston. I have no attachment to his son. This is stupid. Maybe I was reading into it too much, but it felt like starting a new character all over again. All those skills I earned, all of experience I earned for those mission, all of my unfinished achievements, now I have to start a new character?

Whether or not that was the case, I have an RPG mindset when playing most games.

Spoiler:

Yeah, that was the general consensus. Everyone likes John, no one likes his whingy son. Even so, there's a short mission chain that lets Jack avenge his father's death, at the end of which you get a title splash. THAT is the real ending.

And if memory serves, the transition to Jack is more or less a skin change. I don't think you actually lose anything.

Spoiler:

Correct, you don't lose anything in the switch

In brief...

Spoiler:

Once you become Jack, you can go down to Mexico and you should have a mission marker along a river. You go there and find the sheriff that done killed your pa. You chat a bit and then have a gun duel followed by the credits rolling.

Yes. Emphatically, yes. Unfortunately the earliest date I have available is Feb 3rd.

@Ghostship: You pretty much got a handle on the ending. Plot wise I thought it was a brave choice, but it kinda sucks for the roleplay/immersion from that point forward. I think it was the right choice overall,

Spoiler:

you don't typically need much of a connection with your avatar in the post-game. I'm currently doing the Sleeping Dogs post game and though you play the same character any attempts at roleplaying pretty much fail at this point.

And it was indeed one of the most bad-ass game endings in a long time.

Spoiler:

Ok, I think I did that. The credits rolled if I recall. I remember sitting there thinking I was gald it was done.

I haven't turned on MP in forever, but my hunch is that by this point it's similar to GTA IV's: a cultural wasteland of racism and five-second lives.

Lol, probably true - I really more want to go do the hideouts and just dork around than play versus any non goodjer.

The multiplayer co-op missions are pretty well done, if one doesn't want to encounter the ransoms in free roam mode.

If the time is right, I could be interested.

I'm your huckleberry.

Yeah, I could be persuaded to re-do a few of those co-op missions.

I too could be persuaded to do some co-op. I barely touched the multiplayer.

I will be messing around all weekend. I haven't played in ages, but if you guys wanted to try some co-op mission around 9 on Friday night? I am on central time.

I am also down to do some of the undead nightmare horde mode achievements.
